You do know that this Blue Macaw is in extintion right? There are less than 70 in the world RIGHT NOW. By the way, I love him :D Hes smart! Congratulations on being one of the lucky people to own one of those.
I love hyacinths :) they are so beautiful and intelligent. they're pretty scary/intimidating though. they could bite you only trying to play and take your nose off. I used to have a molluccan cockatoo and he bit me on the nose once (not that hard). it was scary as shit. I know he would never try to hurt me though.
nice looking bird wish I could see one outside of a zoo but soo much money and rareity. by the way for the person that commented albert enstine was athiest that is not true he was jewish plain and simple, and mentioned there had to be something greater then us out there.
What a beautiful and smart hyacinth! I am so glad that you educate those who want to get a parrot. I promote all the time to RESEARCH, THEN RESCUE IF POSSIBLE! I believe that education is the key to stop the neglect and abuse of all the parrots in the world. Most people have no idea that having a parrot is similar to having a 2 or 3 year old child for 80 plus years.
Oh "complex shit"? Please tell me? I have a masters in physics & mathematics. So there's NO GOD? Proof? So everything came from nothing out of nowhere by random chance and accident for no reason or purpose? Please tell me more son of a monkey, fluke of the universe. So life happened by its self from inanimate matter, POOF, grew legs, crawled out the primordial ooze to become ALL LIFE? Prove it. You are a troll. Beat it kid. Answer me or shut up. "Offical REAPER"? Your an idiot.
@gmcjetpilot You're just another brainwashed kid who was pressured so much to believe in god. You where raised to believe in god possibly every week or two times a week. Sorta like santa but you only heard of santa around 1once a week and probally muttered about infront of you. You learned santa wasn't real when you get older cause it wasn't pressured on you as much. But a phony god was pressured so much that you just believed it. Coming from a x-christian sometimes I wish -
KID? I'm a 49 yr old married father of two Airline Captain, with two post grad degrees. You don't believe in God? FINE? I don't give a crap. Believe as you like thought Nazi. 2.3 billion agree with me. Another 4 billion have spiritual beliefs. Albert Einstein was an agnostic or "cosmic spiritualist". I look at a Hyacinth and say, no accident, designed.
.
Kid you want to be a Godless heathen? Fine get on w/ your Godless self centered life & shut the hell up. Have a nice day.
@geeflyboy Airline captain? You're not the fucking boss. You are a corporate FLUNKY....NOBODY respects that. Gee, whiz george, stop with the degrees already. You're to stupid to have those degrees.
@gmcjetpilot I wish I was stupid enough to believe in god. Shame I was a smart kid.
I can't explain all my thoughts but I did a little. Surely if I had the time and patience to explain that "So life happened by its self from inanimate matter, POOF, grew legs, crawled out the primordial ooze to become ALL LIFE?" Yes. As a matter of facts have you ever heard of EVOLUTION? Space made planets like this galaxy and many more. Asteroids collided with one till a big rock was made and I didnt get the
Kid you're trying to explain how plants are formed to me? I have a masters in physics, UW '91. The theory, nebular hypothesis, says a nebula collapses into a disk of gas, then protostar, gravitational attraction (warp of space time continuum), photo-evaporation, Poynting-Robertson drag & other effects, we think? Asteroids? No! Atheism does NOT lead to science. Science doesn't disprove God. Where did the Big Bang “Cosmic Seed” come from? How did life first form? Ans me dumb ass.
@geeflyboy Dude. I don't give a flying shit about what you mastered. And if you want I can just sit here all day trolling like you. Shut the FUCK up so I dont have to respond every ten minutes to a ignorant fool. Go play with your kids and brain wash them with jesus christ and god so they can grow up and think "Wow.. I didnt have a good childhood. Some asshole wanted to embrace his beliefs on me to believe in something and trolls the internet about god. and didn't wanna be a father." Fuck you.
Macaws all of them are so amazing. I can't help but think of God when I interact with one... they are designed so perfect for what they need to do, no accident. Their beak is strong and light like modern composite materials. They feathers are hollow shafts strong and light. Their feathers grow out and in an amazing way! I always say they don't need no stinking pilots licence, God gave them their wings. (of course clip their flight feathers for their safety)
@ greengrendel: There is a tame pair at Omar's in southern california... They had the SWEETEST baby for sale there, and I think the owners breed them. You can find them online from various breeders, or in the classifieds of avian magazines. I would soooo have one if I had the space. They have the most amazing personalities. The best of all the parrots, imho. :)
How hard is it to get a Hyacinth? I don't mean keep, I know about that, but what about the availability, and price? (do you think it would be possible to keep a breeding couple tame to humans?)
I guess it would depend on the pairs personality and how they feel about people in general. As for how hard, I don't know anymore. I have had Jake for almost 20 years. Bonded pairs are very expensive. Maybe 20 to 30 k I have heard.
@greyparrot266 I have seen breeding pairs go for as little as 15-20k but if you want a tame breeding pair the only way to go is to raise them from babies. Even then they will be aggressive during breeding season to anything or anyone that gets too close to their nest.
stunning! i myself have a african grey, yellow side conure and a cockateil...they are a hand full so i can only imagine how much time this beautiful bird demands :-)
beautiful bird.... i'm very glad u put the info about ownership... they are definitely not for everyone...i wish more people would research before taking on a bird like this....so unfair to the bird........ur such a great animal mama.
Thank so much Ojos.....It's important that people know the reality of caring for such a busy long-lived bird. Any bird really. Truly more care and responsibility than most people can handle.
My Bird is 93 years old. They have the same life span as a Human. they just die of narural causes. My parrot has been passed down twice. and i think i can get atleast anouther 5 years i hope i love her dearly
Hyacinth Macaws are so beautiful, this was very cute! thanks for posting the info/caption about the responsibility of parrot ownership. I have a cherryheaded conure, which is much smaller than Jake and she is a handful! =)
