Hi. Good job on the rail painting, ballasting and your descriptions. Please don't take this negatively, just a friendly suggestion. When you need to move your camera around, have someone help you if you don't have a tripod to zoom in and out. Have that person move the camera along gently to minimize motion as it's distracting. Take care and keep the vids coming :-)
Great Video we are just starting our layout and this video helped me alot because i now understand what I have to do to make the track lot more realistic!
ahh, u dont want any rocks on the top of the ties if u are doing a high speed main line, but if u are doing a branch or a short line it can be on top or where ever
well see it takes a while for it to soak down threw it, most people put it on their ballast and it will just give u a hard top surface, mine soaks all the way down threw it, and no it does not level a shiny look
Very helpful man sorry im so behind had to get settled in i have no internet im limited to the library and my aunts computer. Its good to be back in ohio im down in ironton if you wanna visit take care
Wow, I love that your video make give me learn more such more than I do!
I want ask you 2 question about glue and water so why you just put to water on ballast? And, do you take glue mixing with water or without it and regular glue at all?
well i wet the ballast down first with warm water and a little bit of soap in the mix, then i water down the glue a little, the water helps the glue soak threw the ballast. i just use Elmer glue most of the time
Have you ever tried spraying the ballast with 70% Isopropl Alcohol . This I found works very well for breaking the surface tension and allowing my 50/50 Water-white glue mixture to be adsorbed as fast as I can put it down I also mix the Glue 40/60 less on the glue more on the water so that I can spray it from a spray bottle this takes a little more clean up of the rails afterward but can make applying the glue quicker. I use GOO GONE to remove the glue residue(keep it away from turnouts).
looks like you have a good method there can u tell me how to do turnouts because i tried a few and it seems to ruin them by making them stick togetther then i can't switch tracks
dude that layout is awesome!!

so when you ballast a main line, to be realisitic, dont ballast the inside of the ties?

Out of all the ballast vids i watched, this is the first using that much glue. Won't it dry with a shiny look using that much?

Are you constantly cleaning your brush before dipping into different color paints to avoid contaminating them?
