  • empress superdelay or pigtronix echolution? thoughts? opinions??!

  • Superdelay or Vintage Modified Superdelay?

  • Gret sound, great features.

    - but true bypass? No thanks, not on a delay.

Does this off the option to use a good buffer, so the echos can trail when bypassed? If not, it's a deal-breaker for me.

If you switch from a long, feedbacky delay to a slap delay, does the long delay cut off, or trail out?

Can you toggle back & forth between slap & long? In other words, set around a 300ms echo with your foot, then tap to cut it in half?

  • Is the vintage modified version also capable of all the crazy stuff towards the end of this vid?

  • does this have dual delay?

  • guys, why havent you demo the Boss Space Echo, is such a great delay and i think theres really not any good demo of it on youtube. Could you do one please?

  • At 3:40 you can almost hear the filter starting to oscillate.

  • This is every worship leaders wet dream.

  • I was playing at a bar in Guelph, ON and a fella asked me if I was sponsored by empress since I had the SD, Trem, and ParaEQ on my board. I had to tell the truth, that I did indeed pay full price for them. I'll take a sponsorship though!!!!!! Wool!!!!

  • @forfunk49 Me with EHX :S

  • Good Demo! NIce an LLOONNGG but yet I don't think I heard you talk about the preset button?

  • Ive heard Alan Palomo from Neon Indian sings through one of these. it sounds amazing. what do you think about that pro guitar shop?

  • im trying to decide between this and an eventide timefactor... any ideas or thoughts?

  • do these have a jack for external tap tempo on the back?

  • 6:23. wow!

  • his is a great pedal .. but for those on a tight budget look at the TC Electronics Nova Repeater reviewed by PGS .. very similar .. half the price .. no presets ..

  • Can this thing self-osc?

  • @Desmaad whats self "osc" mean?

  • @Cheeseheadedbeanboy self oscillate...

  • @Cheeseheadedbeanboy oscillator i would assume

  • a PGS tribute i made .youtube.com/watch?v=P1Uq0Bw-RPA with this pedal!! =D not SPAM seriously...

  • Would you rather this or the echolution?

  • at 4:47 was that Hey You?

  • Is this cleaner than the EHX DMM?

  • pretty impressive but if your gonna spend that much i personally think the pigtronix phi echolution has this pedal beat for versatility in your delay. I love you guys at pro guitar shop. I can always count on you for a demo of my favorite boutique pedals

  • This has got to be the most versatile delay pedal I've ever seen. Even though it's over $400, it looks like it's worth every single penny.

  • This or the Line 6 DL4?

  • love it! full-featured, yet not so as confusing as the timefactor love it love it!

  • me talking to the Edge:

"oh yea that's cool and all but...*BOOM* REVERSE!!!"

  • Wow. I'm sitting here drooling on those cool sounds, thanks for another great review!

  • i'm going to buy this just for that awesome reverse/synth sound

  • that sounds great! i love these videos :D

  • I would buy one if they weren't so expensive. You could buy a whole processor board for what these cost. Of course, a processor would sound digital and ugly.

  • Just ordered mine

  • Alex Lifeson would of had a lot more fun with 2112 if he had this then! I like it!!! its a barnun pedal huh? makes my DL4 go oh no! don't even think about even though I am!

  • this or the boss dd-7?

  • @irvingzapata this bro... but its more expensive

  • I love the mellov fade in sound from 0.09 to 0.16. How do you make that ?

  • my Cornish T.E.S. $1500.00 plus had to send Pete my Boss DD-2, But..... WELL WELL WELL WORTH EVERY PENNY, trust me, nothing can touch Cornish!!!!

  • @rgj51876

    Echoplex EP-4.

  • sounds fantastic, but I've never seen a more expensive delay pedal. $450

  • Diamond Memory Lane 2. $599

    The echoczar

    $725.00 - standard black box

    $825.00 - polished box

  • Played one of these (and a Moogerfooger delay) last week.

First digital delay that I ever really fell in love with. A bit too much offered for my style of playing, but definitely top 3 material. If I had the money, I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

  • this pedal can do every delay efect you can imagine... awesome.

  • 8:08!!!! the reverse/ocatve up effect! is there any pedal that does JUST this? its incredible and just what i've been looking for.

  • eventide timefactor

  • @countrydoctor The digitech timebender can also so reverse + octave up, but this pedal has overall better tone.

  • that "C" mode sounds really nice

  • eventide timefactor vs. empress superdelay in side by side comparison: the eventide had a synthetic, almost sterile quality; the empress had a much warmer analogish quality to my ear.

  • @ggman946 imho, they're the champions of their classes, the superdelay is the most advanced analogue delay while the timefactor is the best digital delay.

i think it really depends on what kind of sound you like. I, for example can't cope with digital delay, it just sounds so sterile and dead to me, while others think analogue sounds muffled and too vintage. really, i think you cant vs them.

  • Digital delay that sound like analog GREEEEEAT!!!!!!!

  • Can this pedal do "Trails" like the Carl Martin?

  • see 1:38

  • Made in Canada! I don't want it! :))

  • Whatever! Go buy some POS if you don't want to buy a pedal made with skill and love! Canada is right there in Afghanistan with you dude, and takin' the losses... so don't hate eh?

  • i think a canadian took his lunch money. my unwashed american friends you gotta love them

  • whats the maximum time lengths of the loop?

  • 8 seconds

  • its 13.8 secs...

  • can you tap in dotted 8th notes?

  • eventide timefactor or empress super delay? thnks

  • Got to have 8 of those !

  • is there delay overspill? like when the pedal is turned off it still delays?

  • I'll find out for you 0 Mine is coming soon

  • does it have delay overspill? when u turn the delay off does it still delay?

  • In the reverse mode, can you mix out you original guitar signal, so you only hear the reverse?

  • Yup. Just turn the mix knob all the way clockwise. They demo this on the Empress site.

  • Yes - 100% Mix

  • I have searched and searched for a video with someone using this with the empression pedal, but cant find one!

Andy, could you do one please??

  • try typing expression not empression?

  • ok this pedal owns all delay pedals iv seen and heard

  • In my opinion, this is the epiphany of delay pedals if you are looking for diverse, versatile, very custom delay

  • Can this do dotted 8th delay?

  • Yes!

  • andy in your opinion, this or the line 6 dl4?

  • this is almost twice as expensive, what you do think is better?

  • Does it work well with U2 songs.

  • andys really mellow in this one!! lol

  • wow, I think I'll run this with my moog

  • This or Diamond Memory Lane for Pink Floyd - like tunes? Please help!

  • This is digital, as in, it will give you many different delays, including reverse and looping. The memory lane is analog, which means it's warmer, and won't have the crispness on a digital delay. I prefer analog dealy IMO, and I think for Floyd the Memory lane is your best choice.

  • you are probably right, the memory lane is awsome but it cost 600 bux, thats way too much for me, if I had the money I would buy it in a heart beat

  • I think the deluxe memory man gives most value for your bux, wich have 4 great sounding pedals in 1,

    1.Echo

    2.Chorus

    3.Vibrato

    4.Overdrive

there is no other pedal on the market with all these features, and it is an awsome sounding echo, all analog:)

  • If you like the sound that's fine, but as for versatility, the superdelay has a hell of a lot more of it

  • lol, no.

Overdrive? the boost with the level knob sounds like ass, it clips soooo much. The vibrato and chorus is seperate, much less if you don't want delay. No tap or anything like that either, there's like no features in comparsion to something like that.

  • Yeah, but analog has hardly any delay time. It's very frustrating. In my opinion, digital is much more usable. But it would be nice to have a nice digital and nice analog to choose from.

  • Digitech Timebender is all you need.

  • Big Sur Moon 6:23

  • this seems to be the ultimate delay pedal.

  • Pales in compariosion to the byoc Analog Delay(You have to build it). But you can get 2 seconds out of it.

  • @hodowncorexxx with the ultimate price tag too!

  • Pigtronix Echolution or Empress Superdelay?

Which one is the better deal for your everyday, run-of-the-mill, delay-loving gutiarist?

  • I know someone that got a Superdelay a few months back and basically said if you love delay and have the money to spend, get it. Absolutely incredible!

  • If I'm gonna spend in the neighborhood of $500 I'm gonna spend another $100 or so and get a Moog

  • something else this--i was gonna get the memory lane 2 just changed my mind,,,,,,,,,wonderfull tone,,,,,those crazy canadians

  • this or the timefactor........

  • This...I've had both...

  • why this?? :D

  • this is so much easier to use

  • i just want to sleep in the blanket of tone this thing weaves!

  • damn can't decide whether to get this or the wah probe???? i want both which on should i get first???

  • jonny greenwood would love this.!!!!! ... ;0)

  • 449 brand new free shipping

  • holy moly, i just fell in love again

  • 2:21-2:40

    4:02-4:30

    6:23-6:40

    these settings are amazing.

    this unit is spectacular.

you can get some great effects from this.

    too bad its like $500

but there are so many options.

are there any other delay pedals (maybe even a loop station) that can get effects like in those times i listed?

  • pretty much any delay with a dotted Eighth not setting, tap tempo, and modulation can do that. Boss DD 7, Boss DD 20. Nova Delay. Echo Park. They can all do it. Except the Superdelay can do it better.

  • this vs. Eventide Timefactor...

I've read the threads on Hcfx and can't decide which one is better.

  • i got it. it is sick

  • omg this is amazing

  • hmm?well of course this is very seductive.. and for fun and recording ..its great..? but somehow i think it sucks as a stage tool.. all flash and no depth of character..unlike some crappy old analoge or tape that just grabs you by the balls

  • one of the best delays i've heard but it's so expensive i don't know if it's really worth it

  • Damn, cool demo I will never play a delay and enjoy it ever again,,,,,Thanks

  • lol@ wish you luck with that

  • For just $50 more, you can get a Pigtronix Echolution that is also a mod and tremolo pedal. Rocks this one off the pedalboard.

  • @bardicsinger The Echolution doesn't store settings

  • Shit. I want that.

  • RADIOHEAD.

  • just!! :D

  • just bought one from PGS!!!!! Can't wait to get into this pedal.

  • Does anyone know how this pedal would sound using a Wurlitzer 200A?

  • It would sound just the same..but its best to just use your foot as the Wurlitzer is a bit big and heavy :-)

  • I would love to have this pedal but I just cant float the price :(

well I mean i probably could it just has to come from pot that is used for other gear.... :(

  • hrm $600+ Aud. An eventide timefactor or a TC Nova delay is cheaper.

  • This pedal gets me all excited down there. Nice and warm for a digi pedal.

  • ....hey you...

  • superdelay GAS rising,rising, RISING!!!!

  • The modulation is nice and subtle just like an Echoplex. I never understand why pedal makers add all that extra warble!! Awesome demo and not as pricey as I thought. Rock!..ock..ck..k...

  • The daddy of them all, hey Andy you're playing a Tele! That a boy. I'm sure once you spend a good few days with this pedal it would work out nicely. I played one recently and was blown away.

  • Exactly the delay I need. I might get 2 depending on the price

  • 450 bucks.

  • You could probably get the fulltone TTE for that + $100 if you look around. I'd rather have that...

  • well, good luck findng a fulltone TTE for $550. Really, I wish you luck with that.

  • lawl. no chance at all finding one for 550.

    Unless everything is broken

  • second ^^,

  • first ^^,

  • Free pedal for this guy
