Scot Weiland was fired from STP in his prime. He wrote and provided powerful voice to a lot of my favorite songs. When he was fired he was asked by slash to do a partial revival of guns n roses called Velvet Revolver. That was also badass. As much as I love his vocals, I think drug use has knocked it down a notch. Totally my favorite singer of all time though.

"Deep" lyrics are overrated, there is almost no point in trying to sound "deep". Because usually it's just empty metaphors. But there is substance to STP, except their new album, what the fuck is that shit?

Also a lot of people care about Pearl Jam even though, in my opinion, they haven't been good since Vitalogy. Backspacer is one of the worst albums I've ever heard

It's more of a crunch than a straight overdrive or fuzz pedal. On my little Fender Champion DSP 30 I can get this sound with the volume on 10 and then INCH UP the pre-gain until the sound level comes up to where you want it. On my stage Renown 400 I put the pre just a little higher than the master and then move up the saturation until I get what I want.
