  • The Lenovo w700 is nice, but a bit large. I would prefer the w510, which is smaller and it only sacrifices hard drive space (same CPU/Ram capabilities). I have an extremely detailed unboxing, review and comparison of the W510 for the more serious buyers. It is on my channel, here:

Not trying to spam, just letting you guys know there is finally a super-detailed review of the Lenovo workstation series laptops.

  • @infiniteDefinitives Spammer.

  • Amazing, how does it cost?

  • @WindowsVideoArchive

    3000USD,nice

  • More interesting, you know if it works with Linux? built-in graphics tablet is very useful to draw mind maps

  • Nice PC

  • Too bad about the backlight bleed through. Needs an update with an RGB LED display, and preferably not a TN panel.

  • does it have blue ray

  • @UFOsportsJeroen

    DVD-RW default, BD-RW optional.

  • expensive

  • this shit coust 10 grand where i live

  • Such a Great laptop

If Only Lenov had Better Graphic card in it :(

Wish there were Gaming Laptops with Dual Screen :)

Any hope if - Alienware / Eurocom / Sager come up with a Dual Screen Laptop .........

  • heh

Funny how they just happened to have a 20yrold macbook sitting beside it. I wonder how it compares to the latest 17" macbook pro in terms of performance?

Also, does it come with a built-in toaster?

p.s. raid0 (striping) offers no data redundancy. i think the guy meant to say raid1 when making mention of this (not both).

  • no toaster but the high end version eats up any mac book pro for breakfast.

  • with some jam or marmalade :)

  • err, drool. what a nice piece of gear!

  • So, is the LED Backlight can compete or even better than IPS LCD ?

  • Yeah, uh, except this one is portable and can sit on your lap... hence 'laptop'. Sorry.

  • Wes Williams clearly states the product as being a "mobile workstation" and mainly oriented for the professional crowd. This is more an issue of having one package that's portable on site rather than a price issue.

  • But this is meant to be a mobile workstation. Meaning you need the power of a desktop to go with you. I don't think photographers would like to carry a desktop, and all their peripherals to every single photo shoot they go to. And even there, it's just 17 inches, that's still portable equipment, now the HP HDX and Dell XPS M2010 cross the line.

  • What is The % of Adobe RGB that it can show? Sony is claiming higher fidelity with their new AW series. And they are using an LED backlight.

  • sry for the delay: the W700 shows 72% of the adobe RGB color space. It also has a brightness of 400nits. This is twice as bright as a typical notebook computer. The Sony is a higher gamut at about 100% of the adobe RGB color space but only 300nits (from my understanding). This means the W700 is around 33% brighter. As you probably know, brightness is a big deal when you are working in "non-perfect" conditions like on a photo shoot, a wedding, outside, etc. Hope this info helps...

  • Very useful, actually -Cheers!
