In answer to your query, most of the time yes you can pick who you want to battle with, ie. if you and two buddies all want to be on the same team, or on different teams. And yes, normal fingerless gloves are ok, so long as it covers at least the first knuckles, they can be quite paintful to get shot in. Nothing that will take you out of the game, maybe just enough to make you think twice about not wearing gloves!

I had rental equipment, ie gloves, mask, gun, neck, and the gloves didn't help as my hand got shot and it was bad. I wore like 3 layers, 2 long sleeved shirts and a heavy hoodie.... Seemed to hot and more than I needed. The suits that the serious looking players had on looked very light comfy and not hot. Should I get those suits? or some thing like them and where? Please thouroughly xplain:)

@AlexanderMazarakis Depends on the range and where you get hit, paintballs are larger heavier projectiles then airsoft. It's more intimidating. Airsoft fires at higher velocities but holds less inertia, at close range TECHNICALLY speaking airsoft hits harder. Paintball's are traveling slower but maintain their speed for longer distances.

I went to a paintball group once and they were chronoing to see what our FPS was and my marker chronoed at 299 fps and I would only have my marker at 300 MAX, nothing over that. One guy was like "My marker is shooting 450!" he was probably 25 or 28ish and I'm like wow that could kill someone.

When I shot him from 10 ft away (the limit for distance) with one shot he flipped out and said it was cheating. I was wearing my bright blue jersy for this woods ball match...people these days.

Just another reason to play at an organized field that enforces a speed rule, or if you are playing with a bunch of buddies on your property it makes sence to split on the cost of a chronograph to keep the game safe. They had woods and a field (speedball sucked there) but they had a chrono there and they're like "You guys need to chrono your guns before we start" and my Spyder TL was chronoed at 299 fps this guy braged that his shot 450. I was surprised that they didn't tell him to lower it. I was like "What's the point of chronoing then?" it was weird.

@mrgunboy14 Well an airsoft bb flying at about 400 fps broke the thermal seal on my JT mask, That was the last time I used a working paintball thermal mask for airsoft.

But yeah it is different. A Paintball flying at that fast can do quite a bit of damage, but an airsoft bb does hurt more and does damage. I have never gotten a scare from paintball but have from an airsoft bb.

At that speed it is likely that your Adam's apple will move, which will kill you. Also, at that speed, a paintball can break the lens of your mask and you are going to have peaces of glass in your eyes, which is also very dangerous.

However in a recreational setting or for a first time player we enforce these rules. If you came to a recreational session and expected to blow through 200$ in paint we don't want you too, it would be unfair for the new players and a bad first paintball experience. Does this make any sense to you?
