Altho both Ariel Lin and Hu Ge are unfairly lumped under idol stars, they are different from the usual idols as they can actually act very well. Both can carry a drama without relying on being cute or their good looks.

the ending of how yang kang died really disappointed me... not because it didn't follow the storyline of the book, but because he didn't even put up a fight...overall though great series... i did like some of the changes in this version... =)

haha yeah i know. he dies so last minute too, you know? for a second i thought this version wasnt gonna make him die at all. also, having YK die this way totally defeats the purpose of yang guo trying to avenge his father is return of the condor heroes. so if these people ever wanted to make the 2nd in the trilogy theyre basically screwed.

however in the 08 LOCH hua zhen looked a little less beautiful than huang rong, huang rong had the "cute" factor as well as some kinda charisma... hua zhen looked like... a rich spoilt brat... which actually she is so no surprises there...

Huang Rong is the spoiled brat in this drama...she becomes motherly in RoCH, but she's still rather selfish until the very end...Hua Zheng is spoiled, but she is also more innocent and selfless in love.

Loving someone doesn't make you less spoiled. But yes, in this version, Huang Rong is the paragon of perfection. Which makes Guo Jing far from good enough for her. imo, Yang Kang in this version was so much more interesting than Guo Jing, which is a flaw of the scriptwriter more than anyone else.

the 2003 stick very closely to the novel but the 2008 has alot of changes but some of the changes made certain villians have a side of kindness in them making it a little more touching than the original plot from the novel.

good show... hu ge and ariel both did a great job on this show... and you cant really compare this to the 2003 version because the director made the choice to make changes to the story.. so if i had to say which version was better.. i would say neither because they are both very good in their own ways... what one lacks .. the other has.... which makes it very interesting... i recommend people to what this version with out prejudice... only way to enjoy it

ariel i think she is only good at the kind of film for teenage. If you have read the novel you can see there are many diffences between that film and the novel. The way of making up the actress is not good. I think ariel is lovely but she can't perform the temperamnet of Huang Rong. Hu Ge is too handsome to act Guo Jing.

I didn't like the 2003 one at all, TVB used the complete wrong cast for it in my opinion. They didn't suit the charaters at all. And what on earth was with the extra part at the end that they added on by themselves :|

If you didn't like the extra stuff of 1994, you won't like this version. It turned the whole plotline around, everyone's in love with someone else, all the bad guys became "troubled but good at heart," and the ending was crazy. However, if you look it as a drama that has nothing to do with LoCH, then don't worry about.

thx agree mine,but i think the main problem is LOCH storyplot already very full for 50 epp but the scriptwriter still want to add new stuff for viewer to make this version more unique,then problem start,they should add extra epp(may b another 10 epp to 60epp),cos really bit rush & seems no time for HuangRong GuoJing show up their love r/ship sense (they r too busy on flight sense even its good)

I was mainly annoyed at the fact that they cut out key parts of character development for HR and GJ and replaced them with all the extra stuff. For example, the scenes at Yideng's, HR's shixiong's manor, and the three fights with Ouyang Feng were reduced down to bare minimums, whereas before, they really showed HR's not just cute, but also extremely intelligent and can be calm under great stress. GJ's determination in Mongolia was also cut.

sorry,but 2003 version like a history recording more than a drama,and this song is not the opening song,its ending song and a good drama not only on face,acting is more important,there only best acting reward for actor and actress,its not a beauty show at all.

Why you not give them a chance? may be you also will feel same or stronger in this version. I do & love it after watched. Just my opinion

...I agree with you, but Zhou Xun is a better actress (if you ignore her voice) than Ariel (however, it's important to note that the 03 script had Huang Rong as smart and intelligent, whereas the 08 script had HR as cute and sweet...which makes Ariel's version more likable to many). This version confused me...I couldn't tell who the main character was, and as a huge fan of Ariel-Hu Ge and Huang Rong-Guo Jing, I simply did not feel the chemistry between them (again, I blame it on a poor script).

Lol, I hope they don't use this version for the LOCH theme. I like the first version (non-poppy sounding) from the trailer best. This one is cool just for listening to, but sounds way too modern for LOCH. I'm guessing they'll be using the more ancient-sounding version (without all of the rap, bass, backbeat, chorus stuff added in).
