I think the Marina's biggest problem was that the suspension and brakes dated back to the last rear-drive car BMC produced - the Morris Minor. Competent car in 1958, not so in 1972.
In Oz the Marina Six was voted "Car Most Likely To Take A Life".
clarkson has a marina, he keeps it in a barn in the cotswolds as it is identical to the one he used to go on holiday in as a kid, off camera he actually has a soft spot for marinas and often spends sunday afternoon just polishing and admiring it. I should know I`m his chauffeur
I loved mine and my allegro...they were the most comfortable cars i have ever owned to this day....so they were deemed as unreliable but no more than the fords and jap crap around at the time and they were easy to work on and repair.
i know, i dont like the allegro, but atleast it made an effort. The allegro looked good, the marina was designed delibrately to look unradical and conservative so as not to put buyers off.

Great car, BUT WHAT IS WITH THE SCOTLAND FLAG EVERYWHERE? , Scottish people must be so insecure they are so "Ridiculously Patriotic" What has Scotland ever achieved to be prod of ?
Good job done, I know the work thats involved in doing Restoration jobs. its a lot of work and time consuming..but the end result is Worth all the Greif.. Again Good work....!
You might notice that Morris Marinas have Range Rover door handles. That was the only decent part on the whole car! Pure 70's BL junk. Only the Landcrab was worse. er... no hang on Allegros were rubbish too... and the Wedge. All nails in BL's coffin.
The pull-the-flap door handle was actually designed for the Marina- it spread to the Range Rover in the 1980s when the 4-door version was introduced. They were also used on such classy cars as the Allegro, the TR7, the Discovery and the Reliant Scimitar.
They werent that bad for christs sake, alot of other cars were worse, cavaliers were rusters, fords were crap and german stuff were over priced and overrated!
@discocreator76 - still weren't a patch on the FD Victor. Much better handling car. The Marina's real problem was the ridiculously narrow rear track... the terminal understeer... the ridiculously offset driving position... the build quality... the ride... the NVH... other than that it was OK. I still sort of half like the looks. Then I look at an FD Victor or a Firenza or an Opel Manta and I realise I should keep my BL lust for XJs, SD1s, P6s, Dolly Sprints, Stags and so on.
Sure, just got a new camera, so won't be a problem. Since the comment, i picked up another 2 door, and located a few more! ( I know, i need help! HA!).

Would u hav any idea where i could get them for a mark one?
Great song also :)
