Okay, I've finished Clannad, both the VN and the anime and I almost cried, almost. Out of all of the routes I wanted Tomoya to be with Tomoyo because it seemed like those 2 clicked the most, besides Kyou. I mean all those 2 ever needed were each other, and even though the ending was tragic, they still ended up with memories that would last a lifetime and for the both of them that was enough. This ending single-handedly brought me on the verge of tears. One word for Key, Bravo.

PC's original version with porno killed him in the end as you say, then all other versions such as PS2, PSP, CS Edition, XBOX were made based on original version. so, ending cannot be changed.
as a hidden story, Mr.Maeda also got criticizm from tomoyo fans for tomoya's death on tomoyo after and he could not come to work place for about 1 or 2 months. You can check it and you'll know I am right. that is also proof that tomoya has dead.

Try reading the Tomoyo After manga, it follows the same storyline as this one, except they leave out a few minor details.
