  • Nice, well done! I enjoyed watching this one you got some experience I can see. :)

  • @Dennizjoon - thank you very much my friend.

  • Enjoyed

  • @MrFlatroofer - Thank you for enjoying my version along with the many you have looked at, sir. I met an American on a tour of Italy and he asked me to play it on my harmonica -which I smuggled into the luggage when my wife was not looking. He left the hotel early on the final day and when I woke up there was a message on my door, 'Please play Red River Valley for me' He can't have been Johnny Cash then. lol

  • ja ist doch eine Tolle nummer

  • @oldtrio1 - veilen danke mein freund.

  • beautiful!!

  • @AMOGLES99 - Thank you for your kind comment. Happy New Year

  • Bravo!!!

  • @VIOLA703 - Thank you very much Viola! I love your harmonica channel.

  • You made a remake?

  • @musicfamily - Yes this was just the instrumental before I bothered to 'almost' learn the words.

  • That was my Grandfathers Favorite song and you did a great performance

of it with a guitar and a harmonica--outstanding--Thumbs up!!!

  • @JAMMINJIMMYBENNETT - Thanks Jimmy! It lends itself to the harmonica.

  • beautiful ....

  • i was sifting thru ur vids when i saw this title..and my hopes got up for this to be beautiful(ok sometimes u click on something praying it willsound what u want to hear, and sometimes disapointed, u never know if it willbe the way you remember the song!) but Geoff you played this so soft and gentle and so beautifully as i remember it! a fav song of mine ! thank u! enjoyed this peaceful piece by you!

  • @justcallmethelma - I'm glad you weren't disappointed, Kathy. It is one of those songs that lends itself to the harmonica. Thankyou for including it amongst your favourites.

  • hidden treasure... thank you for passing this on. :) This is much better, with harmonica than just adding bubbles like I did for my just singing it. *smile

I play harmonica too but for some reason what I want to come out and what comes out is never what I want (?) lol. But I always like the melody and go on in that fashion, *a relaxing Tibetan bowl effect of great sounds?*... which unfortunately I can never repeat again, even if I wished... needless to say: "not fit for youtube" ...lol...

  • @OldAndNewSongsI've always wanted to play and master the 'Tibetian Bowl.' hee-hee! Hey! I wonder if I dip my harmonica in soap suds before playing and then get the bubbles while I play. On second thoughts, I'd forgotten what will happen when I play the inhaled notes! UUUUrgh! Splutter. Reminds me of when my mum used to threaten to 'clean your mouth out with soap' whenever we used bad words!

  • you are right, the inhaled notes would cause trouble. Since I actually cannot actually play the harmonica... I am putting out a request to you for my next listening pleasure (if you have time)... a bluesy sound? New Orleans type? Something along that line.

Have a nice day and be a good boy, or soap's coming!

  • Ha-ha! funnily My wife used the expression today. not to me mind you!

  • You have done a great job on this one Geoff.

  • Thanks, Bob. Its one of the only songs the band let me solo and apart from 'Duellin Banjos' is the only one I'm allowed to play on guitar.

  • Nice job, it would sound great on a mountain top!

  • We could duet across the valley.

  • That would be cool, or across the ocean!

  • You're welcome!

  • Very nice!

  • Danke. I want to play a ukelele!

  • Beautiful harmonica song. Well played and very nostalgic.

  • Thankyou for your comment.

I hope to do a vocal version soon.

  • Yes, it is also a beautiful vocal song, perharps the both together (an intro and an intermezzo with the harmonica) and the rest sung, would be good!

  • awesome job my friend. sounds fantastic beautiful, i like this stuff.

  • This is always a nice one to play it seems to have been written for the harmonica. I was wondering if you'd ever thought of adding a drum and doing a one man band Video? It's always frustrating if your like me and play several musical instruments but don't have the recording equipment to put them all together. Sounding good 5 stars.

  • I did this with 'Wabash Cannonball'and 'Stille

    Nacht.

An earlier version of Wabash had guitar/vocal, bazouki/harmonica and bass/harmony. I spoiled what would have been a good job by putting reverb on every track as I laid them down and ended up like I was singing to a backing track of Willy Nelson at the Hollywood Bowl! Nobody believed it was just me in the spare bedroom. If I find it. I'll send you a copy.

  • Beautiful tune, great performance!

  • Thanks, Karl-Heinz
