  • lol hearing this type of music reminds me of fallout 3

  • Great - many thanks for sharing this one!

  • thank you so much!

  • love it.

  • Thank you.

  • God Bless YouTube and those who know how to use it properly. Thank you for sharing this treasure with the world.

  • I can't stop smiling, when I hear this song. It's wonderfull .

  • love the amount of "silver surfers" who have listened to this n youtube :D

  • Okay, did someone dislike this just to that he would be the first to dislike? People what's wrong with you?

    P.S. Addore this song.

  • Very nice early thirties popular "sweet" band recording. According to Brian Rust's American Dance Band discography, Ozzie's band for this session had two famous jazz musicians, Charlie Spivak on trumpet and Jack Teagarden on trombone

  • Ozzie sure made a name for himself from early on. He was only 25 years old when this record came out

  • Takes me right to '30s heaven.

  • FALLOUT, FALLOUT, FALLOUT put this in a FALLOUT GAME!!!

  • @laofuzi400 Fallout takes place in the future yes, but the music that gets played is from around when the first atomic bomb fell which was 1945, so the songs that are played tend to be best sellers from the 1940s not the 30s, even though its only like a 10 year difference, most music would have been lost, if it wasnt in use or being taken to vaults and such...

  • @WoWgirrl The first Fallout game set in 2161, the world was destroyed at 2077. They kept the style of late 40s and early 50s period to the war, but they were not actully in the 40s or early 50s when the war happend .so it is very reasonable to include this song in the game.

  • @laofuzi400 I am awear of that, im saying since the world was at war the styles and such of the 1940-50 where still around bc everyone was focused on developing new weapons not colour tv or different music.. and i am awear that this is a 1930's song, since the world was nuked alot of the music would have been destroyed... thats why there are only a couple songs in each game bc its hard to find working records of music.

  • I`m indeed lucky to own a ment copie of this AWESOME Brunswick record!!! Both sides ("Do I Really Deserve It From You") are to DIE for!!!

  • @roybo1930 you are so lucky,,,,I've been looking for a copy of this for a long time. Would give $50 for one (nearly 3 times what one is worth)

  • A sweet song. Thanks for posting it.

  • Sizzling bacon in the background there? Haha

  • @HalfLife4Life Uuum, that's the record.they make that sound? i don't believe they had HD albums back then. xD

  • Yeah, you know somethings wrong when you`re fourteen and love this song. ^^

  • So cool and on the old Brunswick label too! great post!

  • Damn straight there are no dislikes :)

  • @EnmaAlicea

This song can't have any dislikes. No one that doesn't like it would know about it.

  • @doritosyiiiha True.

  • @EnmaAlicea

    ^^

  • I'm sure someone has mentioned, Ozzie Nelson was father to teen idol Ricky Nelson and grandfather to The Nelsons.

  • Could anyone tell me the appropriate music genre this song is in? House music maybe?

  • niesamowite!! przeniosłam się troszkę w inny świat :) coś wspaniałego

  • Is that Gerrard 601 turntable? I have a 606 I think......what a great song and a cool turntable to boot!

  • WHAT AN AWESOME VERSION

I DIDNT REALISE THERE WAS THIS VERSION IS THERE A WAY OF ME GETTING HOLD OF A CD WITH THIS SONG ON IT IN ENGLAND IN THE UK

  • @plodd34 There is a CD called "Legendary Bands of the '30s" that was issued in the late 1980s or early 90s that has this same recording. You can sometimes find used copies of the CD on Ebay.

  • I'm totally shocked he recorded this (much less he was the first)!!! Very cool

  • Thanks for the post.

  • I bet that recording from the 30's is worth a few guineas... Thank you for sharing it on YouTube, fantastic to hear it in it's original form xxx

  • Wikipedia knew...wiki knows all

  • Back then, when my grandmother was still in elemtary school...

  • Ozzie Nelson sounds a little like Rudy Vallee

  • @rudiherold84

Lots of people sounded a little like crooner Rudy Vallee in 1931, though that was near the end of the 'crooner' era. In another 10 years, Ozzie's band could swing with the best of them. Of course, he had Harriet to inspire him by that time. Check out his version of 'Jersey Jive' from 1941.

  • i LOVE it(:

  • You are too fabulous for posting this gem! a million thanks!

  • I didn't know this song is from 1931. Thank you for this nice version!

  • loved this one :- )

  • all the covers are great but i just LOVE the original, even though Ozzie isnt as good a singer as some of the covers.

  • He ain't got nothin on Mamma Cass. lol A good rendition of the song though.

  • @homestar1996 Not just a good rendition...Its the original.

  • @The4Wuz Ha ha so it is, my bad. Well it's a beautiful song no matter who's singing it. :)

  • does brunswick make everything lol

  • I like this. Nice gentle song. Ozzie had a passable singing voice, although I'd rate Harriet higher as a singer. Good effect showing the 78 playing, too.

  • wow awesome and ZI thought it was off the Mills Bros :D

  • I knew

  • this one seems a little more uptempo than mama cass' version... I like it!

  • Very impressive! great sound. Bravo!!

  • And there was also a later version that was a hit for Frankie Laine, maybe in the '40s? Anyway, John Phillips said he got the idea for Cass to do the song from memories of the Frankie Laine recording of this song.

  • listen to those tenor saxes after he sings in the middle - - love it, LOVE IT!!!! Tommy

  • Thanks again, for this nice posting !!

When I record my video, I searched at internet that Ozzie Nelson did the first record for this song !

So nice to know it, here ! \o/

If you agree, I prefer to put my response video here, OK ?

Thanks for this nice posting !

  • THIS is where Mama Cass got her song from. Great!

  • Absolutely amazing how artists recycle great music like this....only those greats like Mama can do originals proud.

  • Ozzie formed his "sweet" band in the late '20s, and began recording for Brunswick in 1930 [he continued to record until the AFM recording ban took effect at the end of July 1942]. This was recorded on February 16, 1931.

  • I was a radio DJ in the 1960s. I played this on the air one night after Mama Cass (of Mamas & Papas fame) had a big #1 Hit with this song. My young listeners were amazed it was an old song recorded years ago.

  • @KKD1247 Sounds like children were always ingorant, I thought its just this generation.

  • @KKD1247 Isn't it great when we can make those connections for younger folks?

  • @KKD1247 in the 60s? how old are you?

  • The Max Rabbe orchestra has almost exactly the same arrangement. They can be found on Youtube. Great song.

  • Darling, You are so right, I love this version too. Thank you so much for sharing.

  • great song! thank you!

  • Wonderful! Thanks for posting!

By the way, do you also have that famous version with Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald? It will be great to listen that version in the original 78rpm format.
