China intervened when it became obvious that NATO was crushing the DPRK and to ensure that a capitalist country wasnt bordering its nation, China went into North Korea and the war basically came to a standstill and ended a few feet from where it began. It has nothing to do with nuclear weapons when it comes to the DPRK.
