  • i love mama odie she's like the modern fairy godmother

  • Mama Odie rules.

  • This is my fave song from the film.

I think I'll try to force my parents to watch it, (they're not fond of Disney films cos of their "everything will be alright" messages) but this one's worth it.

  • @Ansuzie

i think that their their "everything will be alright" messages sounds better than everything ends happily.not all things do, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try to make the most of it, keep hope, and get all depressed.even when things don't end happily we have to start again.there can be multiple endings, not just one.

  • The difference between want and need are day and night. The pivotal moment in the story. Finding what you truly need will lead you to your happiness. It lies just below what you think you want, so....

  • Bloody Love this! I wish this kind of music (and many of those in the film) were more common!

  • Love the slight gospel feeling going through the whole song.

  • @raaacheyx3 This movie has the feel of the old disney!

  • Yeah....some new things are awesome, but screw changing everything because of

'the times'...this classic Disney style is the best

  • love it

  • Welcome back Disney.

  • Sounds like something you'd sing in a church

  • @siriuslyconfused1 Its sure does, that's why I like it so much :D

  • we're doing this for chorus!! :D

  • @HaniChanTwili we are too! :)

  • In the lyrics you put :

What they wanted- need to do

    When it is :

  • @Remorselesslymine

well for won it hardly had anything to do with that story..also how old are you??? this is a new generation of children and if we wanted the to turn out like you ( arrogant and disrespectful) then we would ask.. but as we dnt keep your sly little comments to youself.

  • @fitiie2 Thank you, I was almost thinking the same thing!

  • I love Mam Odie. She's amusing yet wise. I love the hidden message behind this song, that material things are nothing next to love! :) Disney is so inspirational. xx

  • LOL...MAn People should REALLY TRY!!!..TO ENJOY THE MOVIE!!..LOL...LOVE THIS MOVIE IT DESERVES 5 STARS

  • @jinxsayonara

True that, I'm still wondering why it only got 4 stars! :/

  • GO MAMA ODIE!!!!!

  • hahah im love mama odie^^

  • i am so glad they made the frog princess into such a great film! the original story was utter balls compared to this! the music is soo awesome and mama odie freaking rules! makes me wanna go to new orleans!! :)

  • I will repeat it again just for all who don't seem to understand! It's a cartoon for children, made for children! This cartoon was made for KIDS!

  • @prettyponyblue If we want to watch something that you think was made for kids we can!

  • I loved this song and this character. Although I do have to admit I was somewhat confused by her concept. If the movie has already established that voodoo is evil, then why do they turn to Mama Odie for help when she's already established as a voodoo doctor herself? And, when they see her, why is she clearly good and helpful?

I just assume she's "psychic" and not "voodoo," therefore being at least vaguely different enough for it to work.

  • @AMVpurgatory If you listen to the very first song from the movie 'Down in New Orleans, it describes exactly what you are talking about. The lyrics state that they 'have magic good and bad'. And you could 'get everything you want or lose what you have'. I think that describes the differences between Mama Odie and the Shadow man. She gives them what they want and Shadow Man takes everything they have. Sorry if that's kind of confusing.

  • @DPK1989

I watched the movie online so the sound quality wasn't perfect. Listening to that song again, it did explain things a bit more clearly. And, of course, it is one of those things in which you accept that it's a movie and you don't need to think too much about it. *laughs* I just sort of felt a little confused at that point was all.

  • @AMVpurgatory They may needed to just balance out to show that not every voodoo person is evil maybe?

  • I Love This Song ^-^

  • I like the bit when she miss frogy SAYS may i have a word yes mam

  • just dig a little deeper.

  • @Remorselesslymine take a chill pill and just appreciate the song for what it is

  • @TheOceangal22 yeah "theoceangal22'' is totally right just chill out theres no point on freaking out about it its just a movie if they really wanted to do that dont you think they would have done something right about now?

  • @legolas15sw You're not making any sense.

  • @TheOceangal22 Interesting advice, considering that it's not the song that bothers me but rather the entire cartoon.

  • @Remorselesslymine well basicly they really werent doing white european culture they were taking a book and turning it into a fun loving movie so that everyone could enjoy it thats all they did but if you dont really enjoy it i suggest you watch something else that appeals to you if this doesnt.

  • @legolas15sw Well, answer this for me: if they had taken the ancient Japanese novel "The Tale of Genji," and made it with an all-White cast, how do you think the Japanese would react? Hmm?

Because I highly suspect they would take it as an affront to their culture.

  • @Remorselesslymine they probably wouldnt at all but its just a movie if the author really didnt want the movie he/she would have done something about it dont you think?

  • @Remorselesslymine Who cares! This is a Disney Movie, enjoy it for what it is. If you don"t like it watch the Original White European Version then, and don't put this one down.....jeez smh

  • @Remorselesslymine dude, shut up and appreciate it for wat it is! SMH. if uu dnt like it, thats on uu, bt dnt be rankin on nothin.

  • @ghett0mamii you are completely right! Just enjoy the song no one really cares what @Remorselesslymine is arguing about any, its a great song and movie!!

  • @Remorselesslymine haha stfu, the world now thinks of a black girl when you mention "the princess and the frog " so get over your tired white supremacy mindset haha

  • @wereonutube99 Answer this for me: if they had taken the ancient Japanese novel "The Tale of Genji," and made it with an all-White cast, how do you think the Japanese would react? Hmm? Because I highly suspect they would take it as an affront to their culture.

By the way, define "white supremacy" for me. I really want to know how you define it.

  • @wereonutube99

well...not defending anyone but when i think the princess and the frog i just think fairy tale and with that many renditions of it.i think it's important to keep a broad view.

  • @Remorselesslymine

Seriously? You're this pissed off at a PARODY of a fairy tale? Don't get me wrong, there are many great works of literature which shouldn't be heavily altered and they're worth getting worked up about. But this is the Frog Prince we're talking about here. It's not exactly Shakespeare. For that matter, who cares what race the characters are? They could be frigging space aliens for all I care!

  • @AMVpurgatory Well, answer this for me: if they had taken the ancient Japanese novel "The Tale of Genji," and made it with an all-White cast, how do you think the Japanese would react? Hmm?

  • @Remorselesslymine

I'm not the sort of person who plays the racist card very often. In fact, I'm often labeled as "racist" by others because of the fact that I judge people (rather bluntly) for who they are rather than for their heritage. But I can't help but pull the card out in this case. Clearly, you're offended solely by the presence of darker-skinned characters taking the predominant roles in this story and that's really just plain sad.

  • @AMVpurgatory You didn't answer the question I posed to you in my previous post. Now why is that, hmm?

  • @Remorselesslymine who says stuff like that you know what the sad and racist many dinffent skin toned ppl read what you say and are very ofended its hurt some ppl so if you dont have anything presntable to type just dont type

  • @mscaligyrl22 First of all, please learn how to communicate properly in English. Your post barely makes any sense.

As for offending people, some people would be offended to learn that lions eat gazelles. Reality is reality, and it isn't going to change because some over-sensitive people can't learn to look at life critically and without the rose-tinted glasses.

  • @Remorselesslymine

i don't think that it's disrespectful to white and european culture.we could go and say disney's racist if they had not put a black princess.other things have been substituted, and neither neglecting cultures or overriding cultures is a good thing, but usually this is give and take process, and it IS important to be culturally aware.they're not slamming white&european culture.if anything a lot of people are seeing this as you giving that a bad name by dissing another.

  • this song is so wise, so much spirit in it too

  • Kissing the snake is my fav part

  • I love it when Tiana sings "Blue skies and Sunshine!" Unbelievable voice. Favorite Disney movie since the Lion King!

  • My favorite song in the movie, without a doubt.

  • i love when Tiana is dancing in this song and Naveen is looking at her its sooo cute and she looks pretty there lol and its cute when she says "Miss froggy?" "Yes ma'am?" her voice 8D

  • I love how much spirit is in this song and the message behind it, but how many situations can you apply to this song with lyrics like "Miss Froggy? Might I have a word?" or "Prince Froggy's a rich little boy, ya wanna be rich again!"

  • Love this song my niece breaks out anching whenever she hears this song and she is only 8 months

  • love it!!! xD

  • Disney is finally returning to what sets it apart from others. Most of their work after 2000 was either real life or c CGI. This movie brought the magic that hadn't been seen since the Lion King.

  • AWESOME MOVIE!!! I loved it. Just like their good old classics.

  • So Mama Odie is Disney's Fairy Godmother of Soul?

  • @Bluthdon

And it's about damn time, too! Hmm... Now if only we could work Ray's zydeco into the Disney pantheon as well...

  • is it wierd....

i haven't seen this movie yet ( also no one i knows wants to see it...isn't that crazy), but i'm obsessed with it.

  • I LOVE MAMA ODIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @darking2374 ME TO!!!!!!!!!

  • @Msthoroughbredlover shes like the funniest character there evr was in disney XD shes a classic

  • @darking2374 Totally!!!!

  • @Msthoroughbredlover chu r cool i will add u xD

  • @darking2374 Thanks!

  • if it werent for mama odie i wouldnt have known the true difference between wanting something and needing something.

  • i love love love this movie. has so much soul in it!

  • HEY!! I LOVE THIS MOVIE SO MUCH!!

One question: Where did you get that pic of Mama Odie because I've been searching everywhere in Google!!

  • good song ever hope this comes out in 3d

  • One of the Best Disney songs in a long time

  • ''Money aint got no soul! Money aint got no heart!''

SURE GOT THAT RIGHT MAMA ODIE!

  • @xEllenMellenx i dont know im rich wite trash and im pretty hppy

  • @powetcrusher

Have it your way but, money can comsume people pretty bad if there not careful....!

  • @xEllenMellenx

It's not that money in of itself is evil, but that money can't fill the hole in your heart. It won't make you happy. Powetcrusher is rich and happy, but he probably has various reasons for being happy other than just having money. Everything can be a crutch if you let it become so.

  • Never really understood the point of Mama Odie. What was she trying to communicate? That Tiana & Naveen didn't need to become human, they only needed each other's love? At the end, they turn human again by marrying - if this was her plan, she had a strange way of communicating it.

  • @LordBifford I think the point was pretty much what you said, but I think her message was that they wanted to be human for the wrong reasons. Naveen wanted to be human to have fun and be rich again, and Tiana wanted to be human again to continue her father's dream. Once they found out what they really needed (each other), they got married, kissed, and became human. So that ending part makes logical sense, but also symbolicish sense from Mama Odie. Does that make sense lol?

  • @LordBifford

She's a crazy old Cajun lady living in a tree in the swamp and you're questioning her logic?

  • @AMVpurgatory Well, it's just that this song, good as it is, feels purposeless. Was she suggesting they didn't NEED to become human again?

  • @LordBifford

Yeah, I see what you're saying. i didn't see it that way, but I don't deny that it could be taken that way either.

  • Miss Froggy, might I have a word?

Heh heh heh, yous a hard one, thats what I heard.

    Your daddy was a lovin man;

    Family through and through.

    You your daddy's daughter!

What he had in him, you got in you! love it

  • I love the part where she sing "Money ain't got no soul, Money ain't got no heart. Money can't buy you Love and True Happiness.

  • SUCH a good movie. One of my top 10 favorite movies by far X3

  • Oh crap. I've been Frog Roll'd.

  • mama odie is the cutiest old woman i know even though shes a animated character

  • i absolutely love this movie. the only thing that annoys me is that tiana's lesson is that being in love with a handsome prince is what she "needs". fair enough everyone needs love, but it would be a better lesson if she was neglecting her family for her dreams but she learned that without their support she wasnt really happy. but the movie says the love she needs comes from a man! still, it was a very slight annoyance and the rest of the movie is fantastic :)

  • @smellydee I don't think that was Tiana's lesson, remember Mama Odie said, "what he had in him you got in you" she was referring to love and family before everything else - not necessarily falling for a man. XD

  • @suntea17 i hope so it just seemed that was the message. it wasnt as if she neglected her family before. i suppose it doesnt really matter because children dont really read too much into these things x¬D

  • @smellydee I don't think that was the lesson, I took it as what she needed was to first off slow down and enjoy her life and secondly remember that love comes before everything else.

Still it cant be perfect its a fairytale there's supposed to be fairytale romance, which is always idealistically pure and rushed

  • @direnblue16 yup, besides it wasnt as if tiana was a weak little damsel in distress. i love how driven and ambitious she is. if anything, she is a positive role model for little girls :D

  • @direnblue16

More than anything, Mama Odie is telling Tiana that working hard is good, but it means nothing if you don't let yourself stop and relax now and then, too. Her father was a hard worker, but when the day was over, he would enjoy being with his family and friends and just have a good time. It's not that Tiana necessary needs "love" in the form of marrying the prince, but she needs the love of life.

  • @AMVpurgatory When I said love, I didn't mean loving the prince I meant love in general, but I guess people just take things differently.

  • ppl are analizing a cartoon! i could imagine your life. Exciting!

its a story, not real, its make belive. analizing some thing thats not real is very productive, wow!

let it be for the kids already!

  • @prettyponyblue

Just because something is animated doesn't mean it's of a lower form of storytelling. Every work of art is put out there to be observed and analyzed for what it is. Some animated films are great, some are terrible. And there's reasons why in both cases. Even with children's entertainment, there's no excuse for just being lazy and putting out an inferior product. But then, you're probably going to give me a "lol wutever u needs to get layd" response, so why am I trying?

  • I love Mama Odie!!!!!!! She rocks!!! = ]

  • Love Mama Odie! The song is so catchy and true!

  • @LordBifford Yes Tiana had a loving mother and they were close,--she had love in that sense. But Tiana's greatest goal was getting her restaurant, and although the dream was a positive one and was inspired by her dad, it was ultimately focused on material gain.Similar to Prince Naveen's desire for material wealth. The message of the whole show is that material wealth shouldn't be our focus---family and love should be.

  • @megarnerful Wow, so she found some tail to tap. That's so much bigger an accomplishment than establishing your own successful business, which is only THE AMERICAN DREAM.

But this is Disney, so I'm sure their relationship won't turn sour within five years.

  • @LordBifford Love isn't a "tail to tap". You're disgusting.

  • @megarnerful Let's just hope then that Naveen doesn't divorce her in ten years and take half the restaraunt with him.

  • @LordBifford Lol good job on ruining all of these kid's idealistic image of relationships. With that said, Naveen's problem would most likely be with fidelity.

  • @LordBifford You missed the message completely. That might be the "American Dream," but it doesn't mean it will make you happy.

  • @megarnerful Same as any other Disney movie :) Yay Disney.

  • After seeing this movie, my boyfriend sings this in the shower everyday. He's getting better though .!

  • I am so happy disney made another classic cartoon!!! i was really starting to miss them :D

  • @Joybells626 theres still hope for disney if they keep making classic 2D animated movies like these :) there are some good computer made ones, but nothing can beat the classic animations

  • "Ms. Frogggiiieee! Might I have a word, you the hard one, that's what I heard." Stop at 1:40.

  • mama odie sings cool...this makes my day brighten

  • AHAHAH . ♥

  • i like the bit when she says miss frogy may i have a word yes mam

  • omg this song it soo true

  • The voice of Tiana is wonderful!! *^_^*

  • Anyone wanna tab this out?

  • i love it

  • THIS IS SO EPIC ♥

  • @theEmpress13

    I totally agree *_*

  • God its about time we get a great disney classic feel back^^

  • Classic Disney animation + Jazz and Gospel Music and Voodoo = EPIC WIN!!

  • wow, i'm really digging this song, especially the "first blue skies and sunshine guaranteed"

wish i could still give this 5 stars. alas, c'est la vie

  • luv the movie

  • for some reason, since the first time i heard this song, my fave part was 'money aint got no soul, money aint got no heart'
