  • Great video. I have Ace 250 - good price, good sensitivity, good stuf for begginers end profesionals Hunting :) I salute from Europe

  • SO...how much IS the Ace 250 ? ? ?

  • @bRadicalmagic1 Your best bet is to buy it thru Kellyco Metal Detectors and the prices range from $212 - $297 but you get Bonus gear with them. Such as you will see with Option 1 and 2 once you visit the site. Good Luck and Happy Hunting!

  • do u know what the best sensitivity to use for old parks, schools, homesites, churches etc is

  • I got used to a bounty hunter and started doing well with it, considering it's cheapness. Bought an ace 250 and by the second day I was about to throw it across the street. I know it is a learning curve so I am being patient. Can you comment about a few things I am encountering. 1. Signals changing from dime quarter to iron after I break through the ground. 2.Some signals completely vanishing. 3. Signals that you mentioned in the video about toning from only one direction. Do you dig them?

  • This was a great video! Thanks for making it. My new Ace 250 is on its way for Xmas. Can't wait. "Freakin' horsecrap." I love it!!!

  • great video, but awfully distracting with the music goin in the background! :-)

  • 'CrackBadger' Rocks.. I have been following your videos for the past couple od days young man and it's great to see someone who is passionate about their chosen machine - as you are with the Ace 250. No bullshit, clear - concise advice and that's what people need. as previously mentioned though try not to have music on in the bg as its off putting - I am about to subscribe to you so please keep these video's coming - top job. NikGrey.

  • muito bom

    see my video

  • What should the sensitivity level be on around dry hard dirt areas be on

  • @TonyGreens99 I would have it set to 6 at first and see what kind of interference you get. If none and your finding items quite deep you can boost it up a notch to 7. If your getting interference(basically beeping all over the place) change areas( maybe your just on a big item or trashy area) If the same result in another area go ahead and take it down to 5. 5 to 6 is what I use in a trashy area. Hard packed dirt will give deeper and more solid signals.

  • Nice video and appreciated. I'm having issues with having the sensitivity set correctly. Wish I could find more people around Rochester,NY that metal detect. I just need to hang a bit with someone that has more experiance. This part of Upstate has a lot of old history and parks. Also Lake Ontario is close by. Does the numbering of the sensitivity squares start from left or right?

    Thanks again bud,

    Bearhll

  • @bearhll

Sense goes from right to left, small to big. 3 to 4 in wet sand, 5-7 in a hard packed dirt area, depends on trash in the area.

    CB

  • This is a great video seriously it helped alot:) but ive heard that its sometimes just around like crazy to different ids when your detecting and im scared of that, but do you think i should just ignore that and buy this detector. I really need help on this cause its my first one

  • @TonyGreens99 This detector is great. Any detector you get will give you erratic signals if your in a trashy location. This detectors downside is also its upside. The detectro does have the crazy depth and power as the high dollar detectors but with that being said its a positive as well. I can tell you I have very high dollar detectors but if I am faced with a volley ball court, tot lot, park or something of that nature I always grab the 250. Its just an awesome machine. fast, light, simple.

  • i only found like 5x 12" copper pipes around my back yard, which was kinda wierd.

  • @eliden

Those could easily be water pipes, dont cut them and becareful digging.

    CB

  • @kindgrind360 it wasn't connected to anything but dirt inside of them...

  • @eliden

Prob buried for a future project for the house or yard and forgotten. not unusual.

    CB

  • From the land of the Bluenose.....being a Garrett only swinger of over 35 years enjoyed your vid me bouy. Now waiting to hear your tips on the AT Pro.............................................be alooking me son and continued gud luck a hunting!

  • @Bluenoser1954

At Pro is nice, great in the water, better in fresh water. I still grab a excal when in the surf. But overall good detector, love the ability to change tones and customize. Great detector.

    CB

  • would it be OK for starting of to use the f250 to go gold digging up int the mountains and streams?

  • @unteemaitaishow

Not really, the 250 doesnt have the high mhz like gold detectors. You want a detector with at least a 10 mhz signal. Something like a gold stinger or eureka gold are great choices. will it work? Yes will it find small gold? No. Will it find a nugget? Probably depending on size and depth.

    CB

    CB

  • Great video, good info but what sensitivity do you set it at in parks.

On a side note, the music in the background was a little distracting.

  • @JohnBfree29

Sorry about the music, i will adjust fire. Depending on the trash in the parks I will run the detector at about 6 or 7 sensitivity.

    CB

  • hi , nice video thanks do you think I should get a Ace 250 or the newer 350/euro version ?

  • cool ,

  • I am so thankful for your videos. i just got the Ace 250 for Christmas and I am so excited. I have learned more today watching your videos than from the book and the company video. Keep up the good work and please keep making tip videos. Ya'll have got me PUMPED!

  • never works in wet sand

  • Dude, I can't tell you how much I appreciated this video. I have been looking for a non-sponsored, no BS approach review to this detector and you have provided that. I especially liked the information about taping the detector and the slight issues with the hardware. I will definitely be ordering this machine now. Thank you so much! Consider me subscribed, brother!

  • i was wondering if this metal detector would be able to detect like silver coins like mercury dimes, quarters, silver dollars. and if this wouldnt be that type of machine for that, what would? im looking for a great cointshooting metal detector for a reasonablr price, one that will get those pretty deep signals

  • really loved this video and like others said no bullshit like a lots of video about detector. I bought an ace 250 and i am very satisfy with it. Hope to see more video from you, continue your good job :)

  • Good video! Do you use headphones? Are they standard size plug-ins for head phones?

  • Thanks for the video! I bought an Ace 250 and I LOVE IT! Do you ever hunt in Ct?

  • ty cbadger I am a newbie to hunting want on the mail for my garrett ace 250 I traded a friend an xbox for exbox waste of time not a gamer ace can help find wealth also good exercise.nuff on me I appreciate you taking time to share with use in honesty your experience with detectors great job man hope you plan on another on soon.

  • great vid as usual :-)

  • Great video , I have been really happy with my ace 250.

I regularly pop lead weights at the beach at 1-2 feet down, it can get to some of the deeper targets especially when the ground is damp .

Dig every target! If it comes up as foil its foil 99.999999% of the time!

  • Before I get the ACE 250 I would like to know if it can detect gold nuggets. Someone please answer me.

  • hi man

just thinking of getting an ace 250, im inland and in the uk. so prob gonna get roman coins, do you think this detector is good inland?? cheers

    mike

  • Hey, great instructions, thanks and I agree. I also have a Garret 250. Only suggestion I could offer is use a darker backdrop and some lighting directed at you and your subject. It was hard to see you and the 250 controls. Keep up the good work and HH.

  • what does it show when u go over a civil war bullet

  • Hey King,

When ya gonna post some new videos? Ur the man!! Thanks for all ur vids and straight up info. Good Luck sir

  • I just got my Ace and first metal detector, I'm off to beach hunt in the Mediterranean, your tips where very useful... i will post a video with the goods!!!

    thanks!

  • Very informative video CrackBadger.

  • Nice job. Please skip the soundtrack next time. It's hard for some people to focus on what you're saying.

  • Nice tips. Appreciate it. Please leave out the soundtrack next time as it makes it much more difficult to pick out your words.

  • I just got 1 of these for my b/day, i cant wait to try it

  • I just did too! bday was jan 28th

  • so you would recomend to use this machine on an all metal setting if you are prepared to dig every hole???

  • Would like to add, pinpointing with the sniper coil on the ACE 250 is much quicker and accurate than the 6x9. When you max out the signal it will be DIRECTLY under the X on the coil. Happy hunting everyone. Recommend folks view the pinpointing video under this one (same page) Congratulations Marshall, you will enjoy your new ACE 250.

  • This video helped me decide to buy the ACE 250 from Steve at Kellyco. Received the ACE 4 weeks ago. On two Saturdays found 80 clad and 60 clad with a sterling silver ring. The ring was found at 5" with the sniper coil which I would encourage as an option. I use the 4.5 sniper exclusively in high trash areas like school grounds. The sniper has detected coins at 6". Previous detector was a 1979 Garrett VLF Groudhog. The new ACE technology is amazing. Thanks crackbadger.

  • This was the best infromational video I've seen in a while.Honest and straight to the point.I beleve this would be a great starter unit for me. I will pick up one this week, eventhough there is snow on the ground. Thanks

  • I appreciate your honest feedback, and head-on comments about the G250. Only someone who has spent the time you have would know its quirks. Thanks! & HH!

  • Refreshing! Thanks mate ;O)

  • Nice! I just bought the Ace 250. If I'm searching in a park, what mode and sensitivity would you recommend? Thanks!

  • silica pack inside... great suggestion! I put them in my laptop case. I am prefer White's brand detectors but have the same attitude as yourself. My neighbor had bragged about his Excaliber detector and suggested the Prizm was s&%t, just took it in stride having had a pulse detector in the past. The neighbor said "Prizm will not pick up necklaces". Hmm? I find tiny earings at eight inches, why wouldn't it pick up a necklace? Just had let the comment ride.

  • Real world commenting! Thanks.

  • Extremely excellent. Where are you at?? I'd love to hunt with you sometime.

  • I like the no BS aspect of this video. Thank you.

  • oh yea and that was just part time when there were no waves, cos my daughter and i just surfed the week away,,,class :)

  • just got back from a week at the beach. . . found 22 spent 303 cartridges, from 2nd world war, prob home guard practice site in the dunes. about £10 in coins ,, a weird either detinater from a grenade,or somat weird poss a sword handle not sure, other bits n pieces,,,but my missus lost a gold ring :( how ironic is that,,,

  • great video show evry thing i need to no about the ace 250...shame u dont have the history we have in the uk..u guys would love it alot..we can find things 1500 years old and its not a crazy find unless its made of gold...a silver coin 500 years old in most places isnt a massive find its just commen here

  • how do mate, ive just purchased ace 250,used it for a week,it has found somat good each time, several george 3rd coins, brass poker, musket ball, couple pound coins,,its a lovely machine, will this see me throughout my detectin hobby or will i need somat deeper?,great vid by the way :)

  • evry one who get deep into this upgrades

  • Ur welcome, thats what I was aiming for!

  • hay cb! i love it, just have not had much time to go out. Found nothing but trash and even that is fun to pull up. VA sucks im afraid to dig in parks here. I have to wait till i go to the beach. Thanks for asking. jon

  • i am just getting into metal detecting. I orderd the 150 ace in the mail. I live in VA are cops real bad about busting ppl in parks without permits? If so where can i get one and where is the best place to look. thanks in advance.

  • Hey brother,

    Hows things going for ya?

  • Я всё понял. Надо учить английский

  • I dont know what you said but so Ill just say thanks! and happy hunting!

  • excelent review - thanks for the common sense information - a real guide to owning a 250. I will look at your other vids.

  • What type of pinpointer do you use? :)

  • Hey brother,

When beach hunting a pinpointer isnt really necessary, if your using one, save ur self time and dont. Get a beach brute or a nice scoop and move on. If your hunting land I use anything I can get my hands on is helpful, lots of people loose signals in the hole after the initial attempt recovery the item and think its nothing becuase the machine wont respond to the target anymore. I prefer using the a sunray probe though. HH

    CB

  • Me too!

  • just bought the new ace 250 wot a fantastic machine for £179.99

  • put a limlock on it mate

  • I just ordered an Ace 250, a cover and a sand scoop. Thank you for your video. I'm excited to go out and "Dig every signal!"

  • Hows your hunting going?

  • Hi I am very interested in buying an Ace 250, I am visiting sites on the forum detectors, and spoke to the ace is just a toy to the mud of the Explorer minelab, what do you think?

    Thank you

    Ari

    Brazil.

  • The minelab is a top detector, but it can range up to 1400 dollars! I checked an Ace 250 out today, and it is very user-friendly, and did a good job. I would start with an ACE and work up to the minelab, unless you're rich and price is no object. (Also, these things are fragile and expensive to repair.... something to keep in mind...)

  • Thanks for the advice.

  • Can you detect on the beach with the ace 250 metal detector?

  • I have one of these and use it all the time on the beach and it's very good for it's price.. The coil is totally waterproof so you can submerge the coil only, not the control unit. I have a sand/rain cover fitted and I'd highly recommend getting one of these if using it on the beach.. Detection depths are quite shallow with this detector compared to the more expensive detectors but all said and done it's a great detector for the money.

  • Hey man, nice, thank you.

what is your recommendations in price ranges?

    $250= ace 250

    $350=?

    $500=?

    $750=?

    $1000=?

    $1250+ =$

  • Do you have he sniper coil?

  • thanks m8 helped me so much just got me self Garrett Ace Metal detector not been out yet but i cant wait to try it cheers for the tips

  • CRACKBADGER,

Came across this yesterday at my local dealer. Its a weather cover for the control box of the ACE 150&250. Thought I just add a tip.

" ACE Environmental Cover-Up G1619900 " Copy and paste into search engine. $12-$14 US

  • Quick Tip Video nothing. This video is invaluable. Thank You very much. I just purchased the Garrett 250 today and went back and bought the cover for the search coil after watching this video. I'll be using the tape tips and moister packs inside the unit now too. What about coil angle locks? Do you use them or have a trick? Also should I spend money on digging tools or just use garden trowel? Once again THX for the vid.

  • Hey, good video. I have an Ace 250 and you helped me out in the ghost signals in damp wood chips in playgrounds. A note on your video, a little front lighting, diffused, and move a little slower so we can see clearly. Keep up the good work

  • Thanks for posting this. My parents got me the Ace 250 for my birthday and I was kinda lost when it came to what sensitivities were good and when!

  • Very helpful I just got one and I feel better knowing it really is as good as they say it is for the money, thanks again!

  • i think you have the lyrics to sweet child of mine messed up, oh this a mding vid.jk lol good vid

  • Awesome, Thanks a lot.

  • cool video very helpful THANKS!

  • I'm thinking about getting one of these, BUT... I'm 6'3". Do you think it will work for me or will I likely be stooping down while hunting for treasure? Awesome video by the way... I give you 5 stars!

  • your so lucky you're that tall. I hate being 5'8" and I'm already 16!

  • wait, r u saying your tall, or short? lol, cause im 16 and 5'6" and im short.

  • Well my short friend it's hell being vertically challenged,I'm 5'20 in.tall and it's a concern for me as well. I 've heard that Garrette has an extesion for it's md's. good luck a

  • why does this machine beep, then when i dig the beep dissapears?and i can pinpoint where i figure it to be, then when i make a plug the beep is 12" the other side of where i pinpointed? its a crazy machine

  • you the crazy one, lol. what are you trying to ask, i might be able to help u. PM me if you still have this problem.

  • great vid

can i get one of these in the UK ?

    cheers

  • Hi Crackbadger,

This info has helped me in making the descison to get one can't wait til Summer I will be on the beaches in the UK.

    Thanks once again.

  • i know i can buy it online but what store can i buy it at?

  • Hey brother, simply type in buy Garrett ACE 250 in any search engine.

    Crackbadger

  • very informative.the best part in relation to wet sand and sensitivity i do alot of beach detecting and always get gost signels now i know how to lessen it.thanks mate happy hunting

  • Great video, ganna get me an ace250.

  • Hi, thanks for the great info, I live down under and have just purchased the detector from USA as it was cheaper, can you believe that? Anyway I've done a bit of beach stuff looking for coins, rings etc. with moderate success, I was wondering where you have the most success, would it be at the shoreline at low tide, or perhaps the middle where everyone throws their gear while they go for a swim, then you get the sunbathers that seem to like the top of the beach?

  • Honestly brother, you can find the gold anywhere. I mean Ive found lost ring anywhere you can think of. BUT... I do look at the odds and where youll find the most! AND THE ANSWER IS!!! Where people are splashing around in about 2-3 foot of water. Most people dont know you lose 2 ring sizes in the water! AND THEN they splash around and swim so off goes our treasure! GOOD LUCK! BUT REMEMBER IT CAN BE ANYWHERE! BUT THATS WHERE I HAVE THE MOST SUCCESS!

    CRACKBADGER

  • hi great video! I'm from holland and i have a ace 150. Is the ace 150 the same machine as the 250 with less options or goes the ace 250 deeper?? ty for the vid!

  • Great help, I am looking at buying the Ace 250, this helped me alot.

  • Thanks for posting!

  • Awsome vid, I just got a garrett ace 250 and Im itchin to get out and look, but I have to wait till winter is over :(

    I cant wait!!!!

  • Hey King; Thanks for the vid.Lots of good info.I bought my ace 250 last March and have found lots of cool stuff with mine,Although nothing of any real value yet.I have been passing up alot of my nickle hits cause they always seem to be junk. But now that I seen your comments looks like I need to start digging em up anyway lol.I live on a 1850 Farmstead and if you like check out my vids of what I've found so far.Peace

  • tape is the ace 250's best friend! LOL

  • thank you mr crackbadger, you really are the ace 250 king...

    all the best, chairboygazza.

  • question about the plastic coil cover, does it effect the perfomance of this machine when the cover is on as i seem to be scratching my coil on the beach and dont want to damage it any further. and is there any diffrence when it comes to detecting english coins as im finding the metal they contain seems to make my machine register non coin displays.

  • Hey Chairboygazza, No, the plastic coil cove does not affect performance. Yes the beach breaks down the coil pretty good over time, scrathing because of shells and rocks. The coil will crack allowing salt to further eat at the coil. Yes different coins around the world register differently.Just do a few of ur own test, figure out what they read.Gold is always 5cent, pulltab and pure gold will be 10cent so dont pass those up! Good luck and be safe!

    Crackbadger

  • You're wright

  • Hi Crackbadger can you make a video about pinpointing useing the Ace 250 which envolves detuneing the machine

  • hi could you please explain what position on the 250 represents the id above them ie iron is 1,bottle caps 2 foil 3 ?? whats after that because im a little confused lol

thanx and great vids keep them up

  • Sure try to get a new vid out in the next 2 days brother! HH

    Crackbadger!

  • thanx will be getting one soon is it better than the bounty hunter quickdraw 2

  • Hea Crackbadger why don't you make a detailed video about the ace 250 which goes into the details of the proper way too set it up the right way and where to get the water proof tape and such like a 30 to 1 hr video

  • Yeah man, thanks for the informative videos... I am yet to have my first metal detecting experience, but I have decided on the ACE 250 for my first machine. Now all I have to do is find a place in Hong Kong that sells them!

  • I can hardly wait to get this machine! Have been following alot of your post and you do seem to know what you are talking about. I do have a few questions though.

    1. Where do you get coil covers?

    2. I think you mentioned placing a moisture package in the housing? Dont mean to be foolish but what are those.

What is your opinion of those pinpointers? Would also like to see you do some videos on coin cleaning....thanks for making up my mind.

  • HEY! Coil covers can be purchased at any detector store really, online auctions like ebay also have them. A moisture packet is a little packet that absorbs the moisture in a restricted area. You can see them in electronic devices and food sometimes. Pinpointers are good but I only use them when hunting relics and old coins, at the beach you need to move quickly. Thanks for the love, comments, questions and support! Take it easy and HH brother!!

    Crackbadger

  • i'd just like to add, would it be possible for you to make a vid showing the different signals/beeps and what it shows on the display for different types of rings/coins or other items you have, I think this would help me alot and others as to what produces what signal etc.If you have time of course. Thanks.

  • Excellent vid.

I have had a couple of people tell me that they know EXACTLY what something is, which i just thought was a load of crap, it's impossible with any detector to know exactly what something is. I am getting more used to mine now, i have a pretty good idea what certain coins are going to be and am pretty much right every time. Some of the pre 1950's coins espcially the silver ones come up as pull tabs or just beeping all over the place so gotta be careful there.

  • I would like to say a big thank you, very helpful, probably saved me days of time.Love all your videos and hope to see more.I'm just about to get started and will post some of my finds in the future. AGAIN THANK YOU!

  • Hey, Thanks for the comp brother! I hope to see ur finds! I know ull have some good ones just stay focused when hunting and hunt hard and ull find ur treasure!

    CB

  • Thank you, Im glad I could help!

    CB

  • Kindgrind, excellent video, very usefull information that I will put to good use when mine arrives this week. If I am just half as successfull as you and your mate I will be very happy.. Thanks for the video.. Will let you know how I get on with the Spanish beaches..

  • Thank you, Please let me know and if you find any gold, and if so, where? LOL. Have fun brother!
