Hey .. that was a wonderfull performance. I thought i am the only UAE national who learned Piano professionally , hehehe :)
You were doing a great job mate. I have graduated ages ago from Ayr College (Scotland) with Master in Music, but honestly you can beat me so simply as my finger joints are gettin arthritis :(
Dear lolosmall, I am equally happy to discover another UAE national who plays the piano, and I must say that I am much flattered by your complement, I am far, far from being a professional pianist, as the plethora of professional performers on Youtube can attest.
The piano is not forbidden in Arabia. More generally, music is not forbidden either. It has been a part of the Arabian culture since before Islam; and it has thrived throughout the Islamic civilizations up to now (as evident by Arabian folk tunes and legions of modern Arab musicians). Islam does not prohibit music; extremists do. I find such views to be both an embarrassment to Islam and an offense to God's wonderful creation of our world. What sense lies in banning that which is good?
"Dawn in Hafeet" is a piece composed by my piano teacher Mrs. Cynthia Lawing who actually plays a duet with me in part 5 of the recital. I have a pdf file of the sheet music for "Dawn in Hafeet" if you would like me to send it to you.
Beautiful. I've stumbled upon this video by accident somehow and have been listening to it non-stop for a few hours now it seems...
I admire you and your wonderful talent, masha'Allah.
