Guess you are a registered voter that doesn't mind their tax dollars hard at work protecting illegal immigrants (no matter the point of origin) and the rights they have not worked for or paid to have.
Everyone that comes here documented goes through a process that helps them survive in this country. Illegals are soaking up the free benefits while everyone pays. They don't even pay back to what they use.
This shows the situation is getting worse...action is long overdue.
@alexkahlon No the only thing you have shown is that you ecan operate a video camera. These people are filling the void that most unemployed americans sitting on their ass are unwilling to do - WORK.
@Epiales, the day laborers you see loitering are a sign of "labor saturation" and high unemployment. Is it good for you if they will accept $30 cash a day, because they sleep in a canyon or 15 to a 3-bedroom house, when you need to bring home $80 a day to pay for your car, apartment, furniture, clothes, computer, camera, iPad, music, etc? What about your teenager, will he find a job after graduation, or live with you, while playing video games all day? How do you teach a work ethic to teens?
@borderraven Labor saturation? The amount of day laborers so minute compared to the amount of american workers and unemployed. I know a hell of a lot of unemployed that are there because they don't to work.
@borderraven A day labor site is proof of a motivated, creative (meaning thinking of different ways to find work) work force. U haven't answered the question of what's ur rationale for disagreeing w/ 78% of economists (across the political spectrum) that agree immigration, legal or illegal, is a NET PLUS for the American economy? These workers are benefitting society more than people sitting @ home applying for unemployment. If there was no work available the workers would not be waiting there
Amercians get off the couch ,call your Senators , #, s can be found on line. What part of illegal makes invadors not a criminal I am soooo confused, I thought illegal meant they had broken a law. But when it comes to these rodents , its Racist. If breaking the law does not make you a criminal, I know a lot of American citizens need their records erased. Ooopps, these special provisions are not for our citizens. Do not vote for politicians that do not enforce the will of the people.
if people dont want to have day laborers take jobs, they should go and work those day jobs themselves. they've obviously found a way to work, so why can't the anti-immigrant complaining unemployed americans?
@marcrocksout, US citizens apply for work through temporary employment agencies that deduct payroll taxes. The illegals work for cash and don't pay taxes.
@borderraven um, I'm an american citizen and work freelance jobs for cash not through an agency, I'm issued 1099's or declare my own income if i'm paid under the $600 cash minimum for a 1099 if my employer doesn't issue one. So, who's to say that A) these people are illegal just because they're looking for day labor jobs and B) what's stopping americans who are upset by these people working from lining up & taking the exact same jobs that these motivated, supposed-illegal-immigrants are getting?
@marcrocksout, get a video camera or use your SmartPhone, and record their faces as you ask if they are US citizens, and have the right to work here. I'll bet they turn their faces and walk away. If they do claim to be US citizens or have a right to work, then offer them a chance to prove it on a DHS I-9 Form. You can try to get a job at a day labor site, and you have every right to get a job there, but you'll be lucky to get hired or re-hired. I look forward to your video.
@borderraven So ur asking me to harass people I suspect of being criminals? Ur sounding very nazi-esque and fascist. I'm simply pointing out the error in ur ignorance about how freelace employment work. I'm American and contract myself out for day rates. If you came up to me w/a video camera asking if I was an American citizen I would call u crazy and turn my face and walk away. I highly encourage anyone that has a problem w/day laborers to go and take the jobs that these workers are getting.
@marcrocksout, I've worked general labor jobs as low as $6 an hour in 1998 and $9 an hour in 2004. But, I look for work through local businesses who have a business license and pay taxes into the local economy. I don't support black market labor where the workers are abused, laws a broken and taxes don't flow into the local economy. Cash 4 day labor means I have to pay the taxes the government demands. How can the Third World improve if you allow its labor, brains and muscle to escape?
@borderraven Well that sure is great that you worked low wage jobs, I'm real proud of you. And thats great that you looked for work through local businesses like that. Who's to say that the local licensed electrician isn't looking for a day laborer because none of his regular freelance workers were available? Again, I work freelance via word of mouth. I'm American. I pay taxes. I work for a day rate. U do not pay taxes because I work for a day rate. I pay self-employment taxes.
@marcrocksout, my brother is an electrical contractor who keeps files on Foreman, journeyman, apprentice electricians, and helpers, but if he needs more labor, then he calls his competitors to suggest any unemployed electricians be sent to him. You need to see a contractor or handyman referral service and network.
@borderraven U make alot of unsubstantiated, ill-informed generalizations and it's a shame that well meaning but misguided people like urself are targeting other people who are motivated enough to find labor jobs in a depressed economy. Day laborers provide cheap services (keeping your fruit and vegetable costs low) and spend the majority of what they make back into the economy subsequently stimulating local economic activity. This is capitalism at work. Why do u dislike American capitalism?
@marcrocksout, LOL, They are depressing to US labor market and our economy, by working for cash, accepting low pay, and then sending $ BILLIONS out of the US economy annually. Consider each dollar you earn and spend in your city will generate taxes at each transaction. Those taxes fund your local, county, state and federal government which is what makes the USA such a great place to live. It's obvious those $B leaving our economy are building up the impoverished Third World ending foreign aid.
@borderraven Ur just a bored retired guy looking for something to do. U should think about traveling, see the world, meet new people. Go for a drive or something, it's a beautiful country & a fascinating world, u should go check it out, quit bothering people that are just trying to work whether it's in a fashion (i.e. unemployment agencies or getting on ur awesome brother's lists) that u approve or not. U can't prove any of these people are illegal. Why are u so mad? U want that farm work?
@marcrocksout. They prove they are illegals by their loitering in public. Get your camera and ask them yourself. They were not born or naturalized here and the do not have a right to work here. Anybody who hires illegals should go to prison.
@borderraven "They prove they are illegals by their loitering in public." Homeless people loiter, teenagers are known to loiter, people outside enjoying the weather are technically loitering. Seriously, u need a bit more proof besides the fact that they'er loitering, they're brown skinned and they don't properly respond w/their ss# to a crazy guy stalking hem w/a video camera. If u had any case u would prove it w/facts. Seriously, there has to be something more constructive u can do w/ur time.
@marcrocksout, I illegals loitering at Home Depot, U-Haul. Not that they are brown-skin, but they are short (5 foot) tall of the indigenous tribes who are oppressed by the taller white-European Hispanics.
@borderraven So ur prejudiced against short people?? Dude, seriously, do u have any VALID excuse for harassing the people in the Home Depot parking lot? U can't PROVE their illegal, U can't PROVE that they're harming the economy, U can't Prove any of ur assertions. U needlessly target one group of people for ur moronic hatred.
@marcrocksout, You are obviously an idiot. I said the day laborers are short, indicating they are the indigenous mesoamerican tribes who were here before Columbus and are being oppressed by the Hispanic Mexicans. They are here illegally! Send them home. Go build an empire in Guatemala.
@borderraven See when people start losing an argument they start name calling. Tsk tsk tsk. So just bcause their ancestors came from somewhere else can u PROVE these particular people are illegal? I look Irish & my family is from Ireland, would u mistrust me? If some random old guy came up w/a video camera & harassed me I wouldn't respond either. I'd call him crazy & I'd walk away as well. So, what can u PROVE? Do u have their ID? An arrest record for any of them? What PROOF do u have?
@borderraven Did u see that illegal immigration actually provides a NET BENEFIT to the US economy? Immigrants, illegal or legal, have always been the back bone to America's greatness. They have been our strongest labor force, working hard jobs for low wages and keeping goods affordable. Just because u feel threatened by short indigenous mesoamericans doesn't mean they're illegal. Why do u want to ruin the economy & why don't u want the US to become stronger economically? Why do u hate America?
@marcrocksout, The USA is already Great. Now, go make Mexico Great. Why do you hate Mexico? Don't you want Mexico to be clean, safe, free, welcoming, place for people to visit and travel through? Why do you keep Mexico from being Great? I want to go visit Mexico, but it is too dangerous. Why won't you fix Mexico?
@borderraven The main reason the US is great is because of our immigrant heritage, but ur afraid of and want to kick out our greatest asset. As an American I've no reason to worry about Mexico's greatness (I told u I was Irish, a smarter retort would've been to ask about making Ireland great. U gotta step up ur game a little bit) I have no opinion on Mexico and no responsibility to it, but I did vacation there twice last year. Now I answered ur questions, answer mine about why u hate America.
@borderraven I'm trying to have a rational and serious discussion w/u here....so one more time: what do u think about the many cross-ideological (meaning conservative, libertarian and liberal) reports that show that immigration, either legal or ILLEGAL is a NET PLUS to the American economy and what do u think about that?
@borderraven What is ur rationale for disagreeing w/ 78% of economists (across the political spectrum) that agree immigration, legal or illegal, provide a NET PLUS for the American economy? Or are u disagreeing that ur and mine immigrant ancestors are the basis for what makes this country great? Do u honestly believe that throughout our history all of the immigrants who worked labor jobs, built our original skyscrapers, built our tunnels and bridges were all legal, card carrying immigrants???
@marcrocksout, Their behavior is a nuisance. We don'y stand around looking for work in the USA. If these men had papers, then they would not be standing around.
@borderraven HAHAHA! How's it a nuisance? How does it bother u? They're looking for work & finding it in a down economy. That bothers u? Ur all upset 'cause u don't like how they find work?? REALLY? U think that gives u the right to harass people when u can't even prove if they're legal or not? Come on man, ur old, grow up and act like an adult. Don't go around harassing people because u don't like how they find work. Ur brother keeps a list of people, he doesn't use an employment agency...
@borderraven "In contrast, 'legalization of low-skilled immigrant workers would yield significant income gains for American workers & households,'... would eliminate the costs of smuggling illegal immigrants...allow immigrants to be more productive & openly participate in the economy, & it would “create more openings for Americans in higher skilled occupations.'..overall positive impact for U.S. households of legalizing these workers over 10 years would be “1.27 percent of GDP or $180 billion.”
@marcrocksout, I think you are delusional. "Immigrants" are those who lawfully migrate, and who assimilate at rates we can absorb. While illegal aliens flood in and saturate at rates that present the visual symptoms of loitering men competing for a place in the food chain. Illegals displace the native population of an area in both jobs and housing effectively colonizing by occupation.
@borderraven Read - "legalizing these workers over 10 years would be “1.27 percent of GDP or $180 billion.” implies that they are not presently LEGAL! If you want to have an intellectual debate u need really to step up ur game. Illegal immigrants are doing the jobs no one else wants. Remember the 'Take Our Jobs' protest? How many people signed up? 10,000. How many SHOWED up? 10. How many came back the NEXT DAY? 0. It's funny, when people start to lose arguments, they start name calling.
@borderraven We live in a capitalistic society, competition is good. I say that these people are self-motivated and that's what's great about our country. They're finding work in a depressed economy w/no safety nets, they're not on un-employment, they're not complaining about gov't not providing them a job. Thats how the American capitalistic system works. U work hard, u make ur way. Instead of harassing immigrants (legal or otherwise) u'd be better serving our country getting a job, borderraven
@marcrocksout, How many day labor sites have you been to? They are not finding work or you would not see them there. Loitering, unemployed men, is an indicator of labor saturation and low employment. Now, if they were not illegals, then they would be signed up at every licensed temporary employment agency and they would be waiting by a phone looking online. Harboring illegal aliens does not help US citizen teens and young adults to find jobs and it harms the Third World. I'm retired.
@borderraven Can you guarantee that they aren't signed up @ every employment agency & are waiting at the day labor site looking for work in case their cell fone doesn't ring from the agency? Can you offer any more proof they're illegal other than that they didn't respond to some old kook w/a camera harassing them? Even the libertarian Cato Institute points out that 75% of economists agree illegal immigration provides a net positive for the US economy (google: Cato institute illegal immigration)
@marcrocksout, Dude, they are illegals, standing all day at day labor sites, maybe working 1 day a week (unemployment rate of 30%), but for cash. Employment agencies deduct payroll taxes. My strategy was to look for work myself, but also be listed with every agency and every branch in my commute range of 25 miles.
Take your video camera to a day labor site and video them while asking. Look in YouTube, we made vids in 2005, 2006, 2008, and 2008. Look at vids linked on this page.
@borderraven So u encourage harassing people & decaring anyone who doesn't answer u to be "illegal". If u google "cato institute illegal alien" u will see that libertarian Cato Institute say's that "78% of economists agree that illegal immigration is a NET profit to the AMERICAN ECONOMY"! Immigration refers to ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION BEING A NET PROFIT to the US ECONOMY!! I have plenty of day labor work for myself. I'm glad for ur brother, he should hang out @ the day labor sites to get a job #LOSER
@borderraven Can you back up ANY of ur wild assumptions w/reliable stats? The libertarian Cato Institute is no left leaning hippie think tank. Capitalist free markets work in a way that the immigrants u hate so much keep coming to the US & to day labor sites because there is work available. So, I'm super proud of ur brother making lists & everything, he must be pretty smart, does he sneak up & videotape every worker to verify if they're legal or not? Why do u hate capitalism?

@borderraven Can you back up ANY of ur wild assumptions w/reliable stats? The libertarian Cato Institute is no left leaning hippie think tank. Capitalist free markets work in a way that the immigrants u hate so much keep coming to the US & to day labor sites because there is work available. So, I'm super proud of ur brother making lists & everything, he must be pretty smart, does he sneak up & videotape every worker to verify if they're legal or not? Why do u hate capitalism?

Maybe people standing around loitering should be charged with solicitation (Prostitution) regardless of the trade they offer.
