I am a regular on the bombay and howrah rajdhanis. I miss the sheer joy of the three-and-a-half-day haul on the Ajmer- Kachiguda (Hyderabad) Passenger train (metre gauge) drawn unhurriedly by a puffing steam loco. Especially the day-long stretch through the beautiful thickly forested Vindhya hills between Khandwa and Ratlam. With a three hour (unofficial) stoppage near a lovely lake and waterfall, when the passengers got down and frolicked in the waters.THAT is the best of the Indian Railways.

Awesome video! Loved it, showcases WR's suburban section which very few people have videographed nicely. This is a phenomenal overtake as you won't get to see this everyday.. :-)

Btw, on which line/platform you were put up at Virar for 2909 to overtake you?

Thanks for your appreciation..I was expecting the 2951 overtake somewhere near Vapi, but thanks to our late departure from BDTS, got to see the parallel run in Mumbai itself..We were put up on Pf no 5 at Virar for the Garib Rath to overtake us.

The pride of the W.R.! She enters Bombay in such style as an estranged maiden about to be reunited with her lover. And they pamper her, and how! Center track, all clear, always. All others stand aside, please. And observe her when she leaves Bombay... She will groan and cry.... Till she crosses Nalasopara, she refuses to touch her respectable 90 kmph. Very good video. Difficult to take from your perspective.

Thanks for your appreciation & beautiful description of the prestigious Rajdhani..Thanks to additional 3rd & 4th line between Borivali & Virar, now it maintains a decent 100-105 kmph run on certain sections between Dahisar & Virar.

Actually this is the case always with 2979, it arrives late and then departs late, but even it departs late from BDTS, it covers the lost time and manages to reach JP on time. What was your fate that day dude? was the train late throughout or reached on time?

I had traveled upto Sawai Madhopur..It departed at 15 40 hrs, i.e 55 mins behind schedule from BDTS & reached SWM at 09 30 am..i.e more or less it was running late throughout :)

@rishmeet1 Ya so there might have been overtakes in between as usual, its a good train but only from Surat to SWM. Are you from SWM?

Yes after the king, 2909 Garib Rath overtook us at Virar, whereas AK Raj was given a go ahead at Ankleshwar..Overall it is a good train with some fantastic run between BRC & SWM..For this part of the journey, it is usually hauled by a BRC WAP-4, I am from Mumbai.

Yes, it arrived late from Jaipur & same rake departed BDTS 1 hr behind schedule

It is hauled by a WCAM2 class loco from Valsad shed which generally stay close to their home sheds even though they could be dispatched further without any problem of traction change, etc, considering if it breaks down too far from its territory, repair crew have to be sent out from the home shed to take care of it.

Thanks..Rajdhani was doing close to 90 kmph, whereas local was running at approx 80 kmph

@Amtrak1194 Japnese made loco even though more advanced probably wont last on Indian conditions. Indian made stuff is best for abusive handling. Would be wonderful see the marriage of both worlds. Some of it seen in Indian cars.

Hi Sanjay, sincere apologies for a late reply..Glad you liked the video..My train was running on the 5th line between BDTS & BVI, whereas Rajdhani was running on the main fast corridor towards BRC.

Beautiful... I love these new coaches of Rajdhani with big windows... This is probably the only video shot from a moving train in which not only is the video quality so clear but sound isn't popping the eardrums either...
