Hey @bigcitymusic Im a late bloomer and just found out about the Vermona... it is truly amazing.. is it possible to sync or record it with Ableton or any sort of ITB.. the only reason why im asking is just because I cant afford to go buy a hardware sequencer atm.. cheers!
I'm thinking of buying the Vermona and the Elektron at once, since the Vermona doesn't have a step sequencer, is it possible to use the machinedrum's sequencer (via midi out/in)
Certainly you could compare it to a 909 and in that respect I agree with you, although as the Vermona isn't trying to clone the 909 it's just a personal taste thing.
As for the Machinedrum, well that's oranges and apples. Very different but both tasty fruit.
Analog drumsynths in modern mainstream music...never..
lulz...808 stupid..
No one has just used one in reggeaton yet. But dancehall cats use analog boinks boings and beeps all the time. Have a listen to Shabba Ranks - Tinga-linga-ling
Really great sounding machine but not a very nice sequence there. My personal opinion of course. Maybe something with a funkier feel if you know what I mean :) ?

Dear dude, analogic tech dont have more room on the business market today, is something dead like it is the "Breakdance" only belong to museums and old people, otherwise I saw just a few, a little few people on youtube playing music on analogic keyb , mostly of the people make noise or just rotate controls and switches and dont use the keyboard or use the appregios.

It is a amazing machine but in what kind of music you can use it today? nada... people today dont appreciate analogic sounds, actually sounds clear, amazing and solid but the kind of music u can make with it is for a soo little circle of people, can not be used for commercial music. I say this with pain because I love it but people preffer shit like reggaeton is shit but in shit is the money today.
Analog drum synths are certainly not mainstream, which is exactly their appeal for some. If an artist wants to sound like everyone else, he/she will most likely not be using an analog drum synth. But if an artist wants to do things differently, he/she may decide this is precisely what is needed. There is no need for rules when it comes to creative expression.
No it is analogue oldskool to a t. No intergration into new technology like encoders and it is the sort of machine that makes no apology for it either.
It does does analogue drum sound excellently and that is a bout it aprt from velocity.

@theokoustas The DRM-1 has MIDI, so sure, you can use any MIDI source to trigger it. :-)

hello bigcitymusic, in your opinion, which is the most power-punchy machine between jomox, vermona and elektron ?
acosta599 1 year ago
I like this machine. A Lot.

One point to concider is that if you wanna replay tracks that you make, Drm1 does not have preset memory.

Yes it's very possible. That's what we're using to sequence the DRM in this video;)

I think vermona beats the ass off the Machine Drum, even off the Roland TR-909

it doesn't sound like a 909 at all... more like a CR-78 or even older TR-77 rhythm boxes

could i control this with the sequencer in fruity loops?
theodoubleg 2 years ago
Note ON at least, yes.. i guess that you would like to know if you can edit this parameters from FL. Answer is no and it's same for any sequencer.
Drm does not have CC / SYSEX support..

that was awesome!

Straight back to 1982! It has the genuine analog sound that I love...from Tangerine Dream and far beyond!
ryanfreer77 2 years ago
i just want to know if reason could control it... redrum would make an awesome trigger
rhoggard76 2 years ago
Any midi controller / sequencer can play this but saving parameters or knob movements is impossible.
dr3tri 2 years ago
Right, you'd have to create patch diagrams. No biggie.
ryanfreer77 2 years ago
i don't think reason can controll this.
but there are other programs with a step-sequencer (that's what redrum is)
one example is ableton live

Awesome job bigcitymusic. This is my favorite DRM1 video. Y'all got me dreamin' of a DRM1 / Rozzbox setup pretty hard...

Are all the triggers on one channel, or does each drum have a separate channel?
Biopharmer 3 years ago
Can all the parameters be controlled by midi or is it just trigger on/off only? thanks for any help, thinking of getting one.
Output9 3 years ago
There's no midi control via cc messages. You can only trigger the drums with note messages. Just the same, it's an incredible drum synth.

@tifius Yeah, perfect would be the Analogue Solutions Europa sequencer to trigger the Vermona DRM1 MKIII.
