@LTF85199 There are both possibilities. In this video the GPS is used for distance, heading, direction calculations, and a pitot-static system is used for airspeed and altitude. If you don't want the pitot system the values can be taken from the GPS, but the altitude is less precise and the speed becomes a ground speed.
You can also choose to display both the air and gronud speeds if you have both GPS and pitot, it's really very flexible and every item can be configured how you want.
@kilrahvp wow this FPV thing is becoming more and more like the real thing, thanks for that response I think I will be buying this eagle tree package too. it would have been really cool if all this video, data and control signals were transmitted through cell phone technology then there will be no need for a ground station. wait a minute, why can't you do FPV with 2 live streaming cell phones?, you will get far better reception and less expensive too.. what do you think?
@LTF85199 The problem is that with a cellphone you have an unpredictable link delay. The image can arrive to the ground 100 milliseconds later, but also several seconds later depending on network coverage and usage, etc. So unless the aircraft has an autopilot and can fly by itself without user input this won't work. To fly FPV and maintain control you need to have less than about 50 ms round-trip delay from image capture to the time an action on your part moves the controls of the aircraft.
Thanks for your feedback. Just one more thing, what video TX/RX are you using ? Do you have any experience with BEV or hobby wireless equipments? what would you recommend ?
@diasyuri The video transmitter is integrated with the camera on the TX61 set, and the RX is supplied. Have a look on the website for more info. No experience with BEV.
My dear friend, as many of the audience here I´m just one more heli enthusiastic. I´ve been flying for about 10 months and really interested in a FPV experience, but as far as I know the pan/tilt camera mount usually needs 2 channels (even with a ppm mixer, the receiver must have 2 slots, right ?) and the GPS system another 2.
So my guess is that I need at least a 8 channel radio, am I right ?
@diasyuri Yes, you'll need 8 channels if you want everything. Note however that pan/tilt and expecially OSD are not needed for FPV. They're fun additions, but not necessary.
And you mention a heli, I would defintiely not recommend going FPV with a heli before having good experience on airplanes first.
I am a beginner at this. I want to be able to fly my plane from the ground like this but with a much cheaper set up. Would a little spy cam that has long range wireless capability work? I know that I would need a receiver too.
I know the quality wouldn't be as good with a lower budget system but do you think i could get a set up for around $100 U.S.?
@BACosta89 With $100 you might be able to get a decent camera-transmitter-receiver, but forget about the rest (video goggles, data display, etc). And it will be a lottery whether the set you get will be of decent quality, so you risk wasting your $100 in something that's unuseable. Many people went that route before you, you should really wait until your budget is more decent and get something good from the start.
Dude, nice video and the quality is astonishing. What type of transmitter and receiver you use? I am thinking to get a 1000mW, 1.2Ghz one. Any suggestions? 5 stars an favorite.
Yes it is, up to 25mW. But with that power and the currently available gear the range and link reliability is just not sufficient to fly safely. We've tested gear for one year now, and so far the range with legal 5.8GHz equipment doesn't exceed 200-300m.

How accurate are those data displayed on the screen do you know? are they based on GPS calculation or some other method like a pitot tube?

@kilrahvp Is the air speed in miles per hour or knots?
twistedyogert 1 month ago
@twistedyogert Kilometers per hour in this case :) The OSD can be set at least to MPH, not sure if it has a kt option too.

-What is the frequency transmitted by the FPV system ? , i current using 2.4G Hz controller ,
-Got conflict when using FPV to your control system ?
-Are you use LCD or video goggle ?
Nice video .5*
dragoncom98 2 years ago
I'm using video goggles of course, and a standard band (35MHz) R/C as 2.4GHz is the only legal and working option in Europe for video.
kilrahvp 2 years ago
im pretty sure similarly powered 5.8Ghz is just as legal if you wanna use a 2.4ghz radio.
