Does anyone know the piece that is played over the opening credits. I'm almost positive that it is Mozart but I would like to know the name of the piece.
THANK YOU FOR POSTING!!!! This was SUCH a highly anticipated aspect of my childhood. I was 3 when this aired. I'm sure I watched it. And the young people's concerts of the Boston Symphony as well. I learned to listen closely to music.
Old videos like this, that have substance, and that can inspire, should be played all over the mainstream entertainment media. But nooooo! Why is that?
@christopher19894 Because it doesn't excite as much as watching Lady Gaga wear meat, Nicki Minaj slip a nip, Katy Perry wearing giant cupcakes in lieu of a bikini top, or seeing Lil Wayne or Wiz Khalifa constantly pulling their baggy pants up.
Some people are worried about climate change; I'm more worried about the erosion of music. I'm not even a musician, but I know more about chord progression than producers adept at chopping and reassembling music from past decades for talentless hacks.
You could flip that around. Many more Americans would prefer to watch Garth Brooks and Toby Keith singing song about the glory of pick-up trucks and war. Is Garth Brooks any less manufactured than the abominable Katy Perry?
I think it's down to the poor quality of your public education system. America will always be the home of blues and jazz, but musicians are happier than ever to let the corporations run their career than to do something of substance and intelligence.
@garix51: You are very welcome. I am glad that the videos bring back some fond memories. All the best!

The piece in the opening credits is the first movement of the mozart's piano sonata no. 16 in C Major.
