Besides, Jive is far from being replaced. Dancesport is quite popular, at least where I'm from. It's just not common at clubs because ballroom is more geared towards competitions and performances.

Also they may have pressed dislike for her costume. Or they just didn't like the performance. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE it. Good show, he WAS quick and powerful. They had fun doing it, which in turn made me have fun watching it.

@Hutzjohn I know. right? Sadly, we are only few. But I AM glad that ballroom is semi becoming more popular again! Yeah, I'd say probably 95-99 percent of the people who come here and watch these videos are probably just spectators, and they know nothing about ALL of the HARD work we as dancers put into these routines. Most of them put these dancers in the same category as modern dance, Ballet, and all of those other performing arts. When in reality it should be categorized as it's own sport! =)

No, it's not at ALL like football. Here's the definition of sport. –noun an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature.

Dancesport is a clever term to work on the subconscious to change peoples view which is ingenious. As yet the Olympic committee refuses to acknowledge it as a sport. Where do we draw the line between art and sport? Do we allow Ballet in Olympics too or call it a sport? Regardless of the athleticism required I will always consider dance an art form.

Swing as understood now a days is a group of dances that originated in the "Swing/Jazz era" (late 20's) in the US from the African-American community. It included many dances over the years from the Lindy Hop, Shag, Jitterbug to name a few. Some of these dances were pretty acrobatic if not wild. Eventually, with WWII it spread to the rest of the world. The ballroom community formalized some of it in Jive (international style), East & West Coast Swing. Jive is one type of Swing
