This is amazing stuff to finally just discover from one of my favorite singers--who knew she could even speak spanish? Beautiful language. And with these Poncho guys, wow!  What would you call this, a Mexican Folk balad? Wonderful.

@Chrmngblly it's call a "Bolero"; It's not really Mexican, boleros are Cuban folk balads but Mexican musicians in the early 20's change the style and the tempo and make it sound more romantic.

These songs are the favorite one to the "Serenate".

@Chrmngblly It's not a Mexican balad but a bolero. The composer, Pedrito Junco, was Cuban and died of TB when he was 24 years old in the 1940's. This song made him famous and according to some it was dedicated to the love of his life when he was already sick and knew that his end was coming.

Although I grew up in So. Cal and am of Mexican decent, I do not speak Spanish, but I gotta tell you, I grew up with this music and it stirs my soul every time I listen to it. So many of the songs from my childhood, they remind me of wonderful times. I have this particular album and have memorized all the songs, I have heard them so often! ENJOY!!
