Practice, and quite a few failed attempts. :-) The coordination is tricky, and the shamisen with its abrupt attack makes it immediately obvious when I get out of sync.

Oh, I used an Alchemy DVR card to record the video output from the Wii, if that's what you were asking. I may have misunderstood your question.
