  • What do you mean, "Playing on single string?" I hear double stop and I see playing on at least 2 strings, and probably 3.

  • i love this guy,hes pretty high and professional :D

  • You can tell that by the age of 60 David Kaynor has only 30 years of fiddle playing experience, coz it sounds poor.

If he had taken it up much younger then perhaps it would sound nice and authentic and sensitive to traditional styles.

    ExpertVillage my arse.

  • @DJFozter WELL in fact my dear fellow, it is much more authentic to the old tradition of what you estimate "quality" as the average age of individuals was to forty somethin before they died. With the majority of fiddle players beginning in theyre twenties or thirties due to the expense of becoming a musician. Sounds like your a little jealous my insecurely critical friend.

  • Not jealous, no.

  • i dont get it.. hes not playing on one single string..

  • He means one string at a time, as opposed to two strings at once, which is common to the fiddle-playing style.

  • ok. I'm surprised expert village allowed him to post these videos. There is nothing about learning how to play. Just him playing.

  • Should rename these videos "How David Kaynor Plays the Fiddle: _______".

Doesn't show much on how to actually play it, just has him bragging and making me jealous. :(

  • Exactly! :D

  • LOL same here...I want to play a song so bad...I'm sick of learning notes I want to play a song already.

  • I'd really enjoy it if there was sheet music that accompanied this...

  • id really enjoy this if i knew how to play the fiddle

  • Perhaps he meant a single string at a time, not double stopping.

  • anyone want to chat

    just moved new area KS

  • single string my arse.

  • wait that wasnt all on one string...was it?

  • Ive watched this a few times and keep getting the more from expert village on the right toolbar thing,"how to jumpstart a car". and "car tire(spelt wrong its tyre) rotation tools"

How is playing a violin related to jump starting a car?

If I wanted tuition on how to make a car tired and rotate it as well as the tools needed I would have looked it up.

  • Ha ha in the US it's spelled tire. Yeah that's annoying. I've got "How to Cater a Meal: Peeling Lemons" and "Tattoo Machines and Guns: How to Run a Tattoo Parlor."

Now I know why tattoo guys are almost always fat. They cater their own food.

  • Let's hope they don't make a "How to Run a Nuclear Reactor" video.

  • I'm no expert, but I'm also pretty sure the D string was bowed a couple of times there! :)

  • Thats because it was ^^. I seen him play it like 17 times and I should know I play violin. Also he played the E string a lot

  • what's the name of the song!

    where can i get it?

  • he said "Over the Moor to Maggie"

  • If you dont have something nice to say, dont say it at all.

Go take your online guitar lessons

  • Ah, he meant no chords.

  • i get it - hes playing a peice with 2 parts and playing both parts, jumping from one to the other =D !! dunno if that helped any1 but thts how i see it =P

  • bolox 1 string

  • try all strings but G through most of it. occasional hit of the G

  • I play fiddle as well but he did not do all that from one string sometime the hand is quicker than the eye.lol

  • He looks very sick, isn't he?

  • i think he is

  • I think he meant one bow? lol

  • having played violin for six years i know that was definitely more than one string

  • He openly says "One string at a time" at :24. So Yes, Mongorich is right.

  • I think wat he means is that he is playing one string AT A TIME, as opposed to playing double-stops. I think he actually hits all 4 strings in that tune.

  • sorry to say that this isn't on one string only... the playing was pretty good but don't mislead people into thinking they're going to watch something when they're really just watching a regular fiddle tune

  • He said one string at a time, not one string for the whole song.

  • ok sorry didn't catch that thanx for pointing that out

  • If that is only one string why does the angle of the bow change? Does the angle on it strokes the string change the sound? I always thought you only changed the angle to contact other strings. I pick up my first fiddle tomorrow BTW so expect more dumb questions. Thanks in advance though :)

  • He said one string at a time.
