Marcelo has beaten many people heavier than him and heavier than Jacare so Jacare's weight can't be used as an excuse in his loss, Jacare is better and he showed it in this match!
Marcelo has lost more than once, Fernando "Terere" has beaten him twice by points and by triangle choke,Cafe Dantes tapped Garcia with an Armbar and Jacare tapped him in the 2005 ADCC with a kimura, so yes Marceo does lose but when he wins he is dominant and one of the best there is, he's just not the best, yet

Jacare has almost an American wrestler mentality combined with Brazilian jiu-jitsu technique. He has the uncanny ability to apply muscular force at the right moments.
i'm convinced in a high level like that which both are, almost same even if not the same level, the weight and power , even bieg a small discrepancy makes a difference.any gap is a place to hold and win.

These guys are two of the best in the world no-gi. Jacare is also a monster with the gi. I think Marcelo also won the Mundials a few years back.
