  • I love "It's for you"... so soul-y....

  • i wonder about the songs they didn't give after 1965, why?

  • bad to me, i'll be on my way, im in love. if the beatles wouldve released those it wouldve been great!

  • That means a lot - is much better by The Beatles

  • the birds and bees are sad because there is one dislike :(

  • one and one is two and that means a lot are actually great songs. when they're sung by paul, of course<3

  • Yo tengo ese LP, salió en CD?

I got the LP, is there a cd version?

  • One poor misguided soul voted thumbs down. Sad life he/she must have.

  • @jimidee33 Agree's with u!! Poor lost soul..HaHaa

  • One poor misguided soul vied this down. Maybe he/she likes rap, or some other bad forms of recordings?

  • I love Billy J Kramer! John and Paul gave them the best songs to record! Gerry and the Pacemakers did a great version of Hello Little Girl.

  • such a shame Lennon&McCartney did not record all those songs themselves with the band... anyway... nobody will ever write such a great "oeuvre"!

  • Love Love Love Love LoveLove Love Love Love LoveLove Love Love Love LoveLove Love Love Love LoveLove Love Love Love LoveLove Love Love Love LoveLove Love Love Love LoveLove Love Love Love LoveLove Love Love Love LoveLove Love Love Love LoveLove Love Love Love LoveLove Love Love Love LoveLove Love Love Love LoveLove Love Love Love LoveLove Love Love Love LoveLove Love Love Love LoveLove Love Love Love LoveLove Love Love Love LoveLove Love Love Love LoveLove Love Love Love LoveLove

  • How about "A WORLD WITHOUT LOVE", made famous by Peter and Gordon?

It is in Youtube look for watch?v=aVbLNPwi_r0&NR=1

  • @guijarrosoy 6th to last song on this list...

  • @beatlesholic13 --Sorry I´ve missed that one.!!! maybe I need new glasses. "A world without love" has always been one of my favorites, before knowing who the authors were.

  • They also wrote I Wanna Be Your Man which the Stones performed

  • From a Window, one of the greatest songs ever written IMO

  • The Beatles shoulda definitley kept "Woman", that`s the type of song you`d expect from Paul to write and it` woulda added to their legacy of great songs.

  • Tommy Quickly sounds a little like Dylan ;D

  • i love that means a lot!

  • what about "come and get it"??

  • Love of the loved!! uee!!

  • great - would love to john lennon sing these songs - but billy was great !!!

  • well i wouldn't say "That Means A Lot" is awful

  • Why cant music be like this now adays im only 20- and this stuff is the shitt

  • As long as people call things "the shit" as a compliment, the shit is what they're going to get. When people regain perspective, maybe things will improve. Until then, enjoy 21st century music, because most of it is indeed the shit.

  • i can see why they gave SOME of these away... if SOME of these songs were on their albums it would seriously damage the quality of the album. i LOVE Bad to Me. its a favorite. But with their reputation of having every song as a Masterpiece, they couldn't risk having SOME of these on their albums.

  • Great compilation!

  • Lennon's demos of ''Bad to Me'' and ''Im in Love'' blow these versions away!!

  • Great stuff! Paul wasn't sure if he was a good songwriter. He felt the reason Beatles songs were such big hits was because they had the Beatles name attached to the song. So Paul gave (among other reasons) Peter & Gordon the song "World Without Love" and wanted to see if it became a hit without people knowing it was a Beatle song (Paul wrote the song). True story. Paul also wrote Peter & Gordon's song "Woman." Both songs were huge hits and nobody at the time knew they were Beatle songs!

  • WHY?! WHY?!!! Dont get me wrong, the groups they gave them to did well with them, but why didn't they keep them?! Did they not realize the potential or did they need money or what?!

  • @creamtangerines I think some of these bands were on the same label as them and/or their friends and they gave them these songs because they (L&M) wrote a lot, and they were helping these other groups get some attention. You can find the beatles' demos for a lot of these

  • these are such good songs, why did they give them away ?

  • Totally tubular to the max!

    xoxo

    The Clarences

  • I did an electronic arrangement (no singing) of "That Means a Lot" based on the Beatles' version, so I didn't think that song was awful. (key words: Carl Moore Music

for music web site having that arrangement)

  • great songs..my fav is from a window...

Peter Asher 7:42 Looks like austin Powers..i think they are the same person! haha

  • you could still say even the songs that they gave away are still some good song and it's better if the beatles are the one who sang and released it as thier own

  • @2008IQ

The song: I'm in love, what is the band they give it to?

  • @viceisthename

Thye Fourmost. Check the info box

  • @2008IQ Okay, thanks.

  • @2008IQ

One and One is Two and That Means a lot are great songs.

  • @viceisthename yes!!!! i knew the rythum, the words it was great i expected lennon had something to do with it instantly! thanks for clearing it up mate!

  • I like "One and one is two"

  • Hunkasaurus does a great version of That Means a Lot.

Some of these are pretty good. Just think if all these (minus a couple of the weaker ones) were on a single album - it'd be one of the best albums ever.

  • exelent!!

  • When you say "One and one is two" is awful, you mean the cover version alone right? If not, you go listen to pauls demo right away!

  • ...to meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...

  • I don't like Billy kramer.

  • @bealtespip123 why not then ? Billy is good

  • @kenfig He's good, but I don't like him because he always depended on others for music. Lennon warned him about living in other people's shadows.

  • @bealtespip123 And ?? MILLIONS of artists do : Tom Jones, Cliff, Cilla ; thats just 3 but i could go on and on and on.Not everyone is a songwriter but they can still be good singers.Besides Billy had a lot of success and John was a fan, putting the J. in his name for it to sound more interesting

  • @kenfig He's a good performer,but I just can't take him for a serious artist. Maybe I'm being a little hard of him though..... = /

  • @bealtespip123 well i think you are because as i implied before, what is a 'serious' artist ? If ones criteria is 'doesnt write their own songs' or ' doesnt play an instrument' then it would rule out a LOT of great singers as well as Kramer

  • @kenfig You're right!

  • @bealtespip123 Im pleased that you agree ! Lol

  • @bealtespip123 Ive talked with Billy privately before, and he is so down to earth--he told me himself that he had the Beatles to thank for his fame and he kept calling himself an "entertainer," not exactly an "artist." Much like how an actor doesn't always write their own lines to say and act. Are you going to try and discredit them for that? Food for thought.

  • @Kliffi24601 An actor acts while a writer writes. Billy is a musician, not a composer. But he seems like a nice guy,so that's great. I'm glad Billy didn't proclaim himself as an artist. So I respect him.

  • Although I heard "It's for You" by Cilla Black at least once on the radio in the U.S. in 1964, I am more familiar with peppier versions done later by Three Dog Night and by Springwell. (Those two are very similar to each other.)

  • Hear 15 amazing versions of these songs (composed but never released by the Beatles) that far surpass what you are hearing on this page. "Off the Beatle Track" by Apple Jam released 09-09-09. Find them on the web at offthebeatletrack

  • oh god when One and One Is Two came on I laughed so hard

  • Al of these songs are so goos, it's hard to comprehend really :). A couple of these I really think that they should have kept for themselves, they're that good. But I guess they didn't really need them.

That Means A Lot: Paul should've really done it himself...:D

  • Beatles version of "That Means a Lot" is so much, too much better than this

  • That means a Lot is a great song, though I much prefer the recent version by Hunkasaurus and His Pet Dog guitar. It's a hit.

  • Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas. THe Dakota is where Lennon got wacked.

  • I knew these songs from childhood.... but I was not aware they were Lennon/McCartney hits.

Their talent was and is bottomless. They can rightfully say: "Roll over Beethoven" for the 20th

    century

  • 7:30 This was Austin Power's second hit following the success of "On the BBC".

  • i wish the Beatles recorded One and one is two with perfect quality... i don't know why but i love that song specially the way Paul sings it... the other guys that sing it don't do the song justice

  • oh i very much agree. not only that song, but the beatles seemed to have a way to make things work perfectly

  • Yeah! I think they gave the songs away because they couldn't add anymore to it? I mean, Bad To Me sounds so sweet when played by one person, but as a whole band it kinda loses it's charm. Know what I'm saying? Just like with One And One Is Two with Paul. = ]

  • I'm surprised 'That Means a Lot' was left off the Help LP,it's a good song, even the version on Anthology 2 is quite good.

  • That Means A Lot was beautiful, what are you talking about?

  • Yeah! >= T

  • Thank you very much. Great song.

  • that means alot is like a beautiful song! its not awful at all!!!!!

  • like, totally!!! omg!!!!

  • Yes, but it isn't complete, and they didn't want it on the HELP LP so it went to Proby.

  • @strawberrypicker123 The Beatles version is beautiful, PJ's is aweful

  • You do a very nice job!! woww i didn't now that they give away all this songs OMGGG!! I now only some of theme xD...

Well some of this version are very nice!!!

    thankyou for posting!

  • Lennon-McCartney were definitely a genius combination and one of the geniuses is still alive. Amazing.

  • It's For You is an impressive tune in terms of it's changes. Some of the dated production does a disservice but underneath there's the brilliance.

  • The Beatles version (from the anthology album) of That Means A Lot isn't too bad.

  • it's awesome!!

  • I've found that their rarer songs and album tracks are their best stuff.

  • i second that

  • Shortly after 4:00 we go to the "One and One is Two" except and on the screen I see "I **** ON THE FIRST DATE" (stars provided by me). Please leave this as a family attraction.

  • One ane One is Two is so bad its brilliant !

  • Man, they were genuis! Some terrific tunes.

  • Yupm I always figured they had to just harmonize tight and anything would work, and all those that were goodies of others were also theirs! and figures too that some weren't handled with a little more time put to them maybe,,so we all get a break in song perfection, thank you for the review, reprieve , and relishments!!

  • Cilla Black sounds eerily like Shirley Bassey.

  • "That Means A Lot" isn't so awful if you hear it performed by the Beatles.

  • Reckon! I love their version

  • Thanks, 2008IQ, for a great collection which demonstrates the wide range of creativity from Lennon & McCartney. "From A Window" was always one of my "unknown" favorites.

  • "One and One is Two" is brilliant !

  • It's good to have all these in one place! Great work! Billy J Kramer was so good. He was a fine singer and their music was fun. Peter and Gordon, of course, can't be beat. You can see why the rest never went far. Cilla Black had a nice sound. PJ Proby was horrible! I remember when he'd come on TV and my sister and I would wonder who on earth was funding his career!

  • P. J. Proby sounds like a poor man's Gene Pitney. A really poor man!

  • get a fucking grip pj proby had a brilliant voice he does sound a bit like gene pitney here I'd say "woman " and "its for you" were the best songs here, they show a sophistication of songwriting ( burt come to mind) that was missing in some of the stuff they recorded around the same time

  • Expertly made montage.

    5 *****

  • The Billy J.songs were excellent mainly cause he had a great back up band!

  • "Goodbye" that give to Mary Hopkins is wonderful songs

  • Thanks for posting. As big a Beatle fan as I've been, there are a few songs there that I hardly ever hear. But I disagree that "That Means a Lot" is awful. The Beatles' version could have used some polishing and ditch the shrill sound, but Proby is, indeed, awful.

  • @pin28son I agree... the lyrics of "That Means A Lot" are OK, but I think the music is very creative and stand out.

  • I've always thought "Hello Little Girl" was a lovely, dumb little song...

  • thanks for posting

  • Great idea, thanks for doing this.

  • you forgot to include "I wanna be Your Man" given to the Rolling Stones...

  • No I didnt. The Fabs recorded it officially themselves for their second album, sung by Ringo. Thousands have recorded Fab-songs, I just made these collections of the songs they gave away for others, and never recorded/released themselves officially.

  • but the beatles recorded "ill be on my way" on the live at the bbc album

  • Its not an official album by them. Its a bootleg. An "official bootleg" sort of. They performed and recorded a lot of songs (mostly covers) for the bbc radio, early into their career as the beatles.

  • Yeah but, no but, yeah..!

  • I once had a bootleg with Paul M. singing ' love of the Loved' with George Martin speaking in the back ground. Happy days!

  • For the most part, it's clear why they gave these songs away.

"A World Without Love" and "Woman" are pretty good though.

  • That Means a Lot is a lot better when it's sung by The Beatles.

  • I agree. But its still an awful song. PJ Proby just made it sound even worse. Paul´s original demo sounds like a hit compared to Proby´s cover!

  • Someone who's heard early Beatles songs will immediately recognise that certain style that's in these songs.

  • You missed How Do You Do It, nice work otherwise, very nice!

  • It´s not a Lennon/McCartney original. Nor Harrison´s song. The song was given to Gerry & the Pacemakers by Epstein in the early days of the Fabs recording. I think the lads just wanted to release their own stuff, rejecting "How Do You Do It" as a single. They did record it, but never officially released it.

  • Ah that's right. Thanks for the response!

  • They didn't write How do you do it.

  • thanks for uploading the beatles videos.

  • No problem. It´s the least I can do, having gotten so much from the Fab Four and their music. It´s my pleasure to spread the word around just a little bit more. There are a few others, as you know, that really dig those four lads from Liverpool. Their body of work and its quality staggers me every day.
