  • at 2:11 what r they doing to her?

  • it is funny that the goat is the 'accomplice' but i dont want the goat to die he probly dont know whats happenin

  • Quasimodo told them that he did it?!?! Wait, how did he know about the murder?

  • 3:44 - 5:30 A BIG LIPPED ALLIGATOR MOMENT!

  • Poor Quasimodo...

  • Your going to hang a goat??? You (AS Disney's Clopin would say it) 'Silly boy!'

  • So basically if you say you didn't do it then they crush your foot and if you say you did then they hang you? Nice.

Oh maybe that is a bit unfair, we'll just blindfold you and give you a 50:50 chance of being hanged because God wants it to be that way. Great!

  • I love how the townspeople will practically laugh at anything.

  • whyre the townspeople such dicks? i love frollo and quasi. great actors:)

  • i cant believe anyone could even partially hurt that little adorable goat!!!!

  • Is that boot still today? I have heard of this. This is to torture them to make them tell that they did it. i wonder too if it could also break her foot? how cruel . People really are stupid, even today.

  • Maureen O'Hara was pretty sexy back in the day. The first film I actually saw her in though was 1991's Only The Lonely which starred John Candy. Appearantly, they gave her a tiny trailer, so Candy offered her his and slept on a cot until they relented. They remained friends until his death. I hope she's doing well these days.

  • 2:15 - Did you guys hear the Fay Wray- screams? X)

  • That was indeed Fay Wray! God rest her soul!!! Farewell Miss Wray.

  • @Annausagi2 Is that all she was ever good for- screaming?

  • @StellianAriolus Her feet were being crushed.

  • ltm

  • is this the part where the gypsy is executed

  • I HATE FROLLO >:O

alkgjalfgj;afkgja;lgj;kja stuuupid son of a bitch.

  • @kijiji93 I agree.

  • i love quasimodo!! he tried to save esmeralda's life but everyone just laughs at him :'(

    i hate the townspeople

  • Augh! This mispronounced latin is killing me XD... Just joking, fabulous film, thanks for uploading this :)

  • i have t say Kudos to margret! a very moving and powerful performance, it must have been hard to have that range of emotion and to be treated like that even if ur acting. well done to her!

  • HAZAR! muderous wench!! it is true look an evil goat!!! i know why not test itby chosing a knife blind folded! yes perfectly ratinal ways of behaving all of them!

  • I like that Frollo has a cat.

  • @olav7 he's a crazy cat man. (you'll arely see those)

  • There she is to be hanged with her accomplice the goat...hahahahahahahaha!!!

  • @GMarie4 Can anyone else besides Hardwicke get away with such a ridiculous line?! Are they actually going to hang the goat?!

  • @StellianAriolus exactly!

  • wait what were they toureing her with because in the book it says that whatever it was frollo would have love to had been there and witness it

  • In every other film version I've seen, they used the "boot" on her, which is a kind of vise for crushing a person's foot and lower leg. That would be the big metal thing with the cranks on it that they took out of the box in the courtroom.

  • I like this version alot for some reason. Although Esmeralda doesn't look very gypsy like

  • @TwilightGeisha ,"although Esmeralda doesn,t look very Gypsy-like" and if it was in colour you would see that Maureen who played Esmeralda had flaming red hair, maybe that made her even less gypsy like?

  • Frollo has his own lil window to watch ppl tortured? creepy..

  • @LetsGo6009 He's been creepy since the beginning! Why anyone likes him or finds him "hot" is beyond me. Quasimodo with his deformities is much more attractive- at least he's not creepy.

  • @StellianAriolus I totally agree

  • @StellianAriolus I agree, completely! Hear, hear!

  • well, i watched the movie again and kind'a changed my mind about frollo. Sir Cedric really plays well. i like him. did you know he was one of G.B,Shaw's favourite actors, and he was made knight by king George V, just ~3 years before this movie?

  • i'm sorry this version over simplyfied frollo's personality. although he looks pretty well, very nice expressive face, very suited for the role, this frollo is just a disgustingly cold villian. just that. where's the torment, the cry, the desire, the dispair?

he is suposed to be a tragical figure, not a complete jerk!

  • Actually I dont agree with you. I think here is not that cold villian. Maybe the actor himself (I AM NOT SAYING SIR CEDRIC IS A BAD ACTOR, HE IS A VERY GOOD ACTOR) but maybe is the way he is. But watch his eyes. Of all the Frollo´s he, (and Maybe Daniel Lavoie) is the who have the same eyes as the Book Frollo. Or look the way he looks, when she torture. Remember what Frollo done in the book?

  • my dear dear Dani, when i wrote this message i was the ONE who oversimplified things. i had watched only parts of the movie then. but after i watched the whole movie in peace and quiet, i loooved Sir Cedric's performance, and, as i wrote on our forum (smiles) Sir C. is another fave of mine right after HIS HONOUR! but thanks for defending him, he deserves. i also repented after i posted the message above.

  • Loool ok---you´re forgiven for say these things of His Honour!

  • around those days, the trials weren't organized like the ones we have today, especially with the torture chambers. if i were esmeralda in this scene, i would've given myself up to frollo no matter what!

  • That trial by ordeal thing was weird and didn't make any sense. Was that sort of thing commonly done in medieval courts?
