@grubeci Of course it had to be different than all of them, cuz those were the early days of Heavy-Metal music although Gene has never refused being influenced by the Beatles (he's said he loved their music since the 60's and we have to remember they did a proto-metal song called "Helter-Skelter" in 1968); another stuff which surely sounded different in those days was the Punk-Rock made by bands like the Ramones and the Sex Pistols even they weren't as popular as KISS and Disco music were then.
@n2112bytor2112p not sure about the other questions, but at 0:13 that was Paul Stanley's bandit makeup he only used for a month or two in 1974 after Kiss was signed to Casablanca, Paul hated it so he switched back to the Starchild. My best guess for 0:46 would be maybe it's him recording in the studio.
@n2112bytor2112p mmkay, 0:13, as answered already, Paul used the bandit makeup for a short time only before switch back to the Starchild. 0:18 the double neck was used during I BELIEVE Rock Bottom during the Reunion Tour, I'm not too sure on that. and 0:46, that is either a recording session or a soundcheck from the 70's
I have a video called KISS the lost footage and KISS are playing Detroit rock City wearing the KISS Alive uniforms. I didn't think that KISS wrote Detroit before Destroyer? It looks like KISS at Cobo Hall during the Alive Concert. Does anyone know about this?
destroyer was released on march 15 1976.....they went on their first european tour with the kiss alive costumes. april may 76. Then when they got back to the states and wore the new costumes. Look for detroit rock city in germany on here. youll see what I mean
You must not have seen them in Minneapolis in November 2009? Eric and Thommy left Ace and Peter in the dust. No offence to Ace and Peter but they are so far away from KISS and their style has changed tomuch. Eric and Thommy are single handely keeping KISS alive. Gene said in an interview that if Ace and Peter has to be replaced he couldn't think of anyone else but Eric and Thommy.. I love Ace and Peter like family but KISS rocks now more than ever.
I liked the double bass sound better. Not to mention the vocals were more to speed of the studio version. I also liked Alive 4 as well with Detroit Rock City being played with the Melbourne Symphony. That one wasn't too bad either. However I have always hated Double Platinum for cutting down the song as well as tampering with the original vocals.
I disagree. Alive 3 had the best version of the song. Alive 2 they played too fast and made the song sound poor. Best studio version I've heard is the original one.
This is taken from the grande finale scene of the movie Detroit Rock City from 1999!!! The kids made it to the show in the end etc. Check it out and compare...
wow this video is so shit during aces solo u give one ace pic and all gene no single peters and a rock and roll over pic that has vinni and eric on it what a shitty video dont make any more and remeber ace and peter were in the band to eh
actually Leevo is right the live albums were recorded at different concerts for ALIVE! and ALIVE II. except on ALIVE II Hard Luck Woman and Tomorrow And Tonight were recorded in studio and mixed in. In ALIVE III, I Still Love You and I Was Made For Loving You were recorded in studio. Everything else were recorded from the actual ALIVE III concert.
im saying that most of the live material was actually recorded. only about 2 songs were re-recorded in the studio. everything else was recorded at actual concerts. except on ALIVE III everything except I Was Made For Loving You and I Still Love You were recorded at Detroit on the same night in 1992
Any band that re records songs in the studio & adds crowd noise, then packages it as a live album is cheating. Otherwise it should be a greatest hits album.
ive been a fan since i was 4 fucking years old dont tell me i dont get something cuz i know KISS more than you do! you dont get it. even if it is fake who gives the shit it still kicks ass. truth is, its KISS and KISS is NOT fake.
This is the version used in the movie Detroit Rock City.

This was recorded in the studio, then crowd noise added later. Just like the rest of their so called live albums.

That's not true. The damn albums were live, only parts were re-done.
