  • We respect Finnish soldiers!

    from Azerbaijan.

  • @Azerifin Why? They supported and helped a country that wanted to wipe out 90% of your nations people.

  • @promdawg Wars are never as simple as politicians try to make them appear.

Finland was essentially caught between a rock and a hard place, as they say.

  • Ismo rulettaa :D

  • No trolling or flaming. And dont take troll baits, dear watchers.

  • Dec.06. - Itsenäisyyspäivä on tulossa pian. Katsotaanpa Katso video .. muistakaamme.

  • Believe me Finland is hard country to capture cuz you have 5. 5 million angry citizen to after you if you russians try it again!!

  • those guys who was at the war in finland they were fucking brave

  • Finland has always been a strong country, especially 1000 years ago, i am not from Finland, nor do i have Finnish blood. but Finland will always be one of my favorite countries. VOITONLAULUT SOI AINIAAN!

  • No russian flaming comments at all? It's certainly strange. I don't meen to provoce them tho.

  • finland has some spirit. we foght an enemy outnumbering us on an unimaginable scale, and lived to tell about it! EEPPISTÄ PERKELE!

  • @votovoto25 You didn't fight the soviets, though your grandpa probably did. The Finns were saved by Stalin's purges in the military. The soviets didn't have competent generals, instead they had upstarts. Maybe they didn't even have decent officers. We instead had fine leadership in the jaegers that were trained in Germany and understood logistics. I mean no disrespect to our veterans as both my grandparents were such. I just mean that we were lucky, because of a dictaror who killed millions.

  • @charmevr NOTE: with "we", i mean the finnish people. but you have a point.

  • this movie is almost perfect. only thing what didi annoy me were the russians force attacks and those fucking planes.

  • When a country fights for its independent great things happens,we who live our pretty good life to day shoud never forget what a few men can do for their country when its need it.

  • My great grandfather enlisted when he was 16 and fought againts the russians and survived god bless him and all the finnish soldiers who fought for their country

  • @black213lol Finland has Hollywood in Naantali.

  • this is beautiful..

even though i'm only half Finnish - i'm very proud of it

thank you so much for making this

  • many Swedish volunteers will always stand up for your contry and your people gettings from Svenska frivilgskåren (my grandfather Karl Erik Lindström corperal IR61 Swedish speaking division)

  • Finns are brave ! hail to all Finnish soldier !

  • TALVISOTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • finns are the thoughest soldiers ever. And I salute them

  • very god movie :)

  • tough soldiers staggering odds like 150 to 1 amazing what a few motivated can do against the many. Problem is the russians had more troops than the Fins had bullets. I have a M39 Sako rifle still works like a charm.

    Great video

  • neuvostojohto suunnitteli monta vuotta tätä, ne ilmeisesti ois halunnu Norjan rannikolle, mistä olis ollu hyvät mahdollisuudet "aloittaa varsinainen sota".. Mitä ne petsamolla ois tehny muute?

  • It's stupid cause look at all those "Soviet fanboys" out there, there's even people who draw Soviet strippers and buy Soviet clothes to wear in public cause they think it's "cool".

And yes the Russians were a big army, but their soldiers are ABSOLUTELY NOTHING compared to the Finnish soldier, RIP those who died to protect their homeland and their people against the Russian invaders.

They were some of the best n bravest the world has ever seen.

  • My granpa send soldiers to Russia

  • Fieldmarshal Mannerheim in his Päiväkäsky 34 at the end of winter war: "You didn't want war, you loved peace, work and industry but you were forced to battlefield, were you have done magnificent things, things that will shine in the pages history for centuries. And now 200 000 of your enemies rests at the snow or stares at our night-sky with broken glance, it is not your fault. You didn't hate them, you didn't want any bad to happen them, you just followed the law of war: kill or be killed"

  • My grandad helped Finland.

    He was Swedish.

  • @Killerkalle06 För Finlands frihet och Sveriges ära - For the Finnish freedom and the honour of Sweden. We Finns respect all Swedish volunteers who preferred the risk of dead instead of the safety of their homes!

  • I think most people in western europe or overseas still dont understand what happened in eastern europe during WWII. The allies left the Finns to fight for themselves against a million man Red Army. Great Britain declared war on Finland because they were fighting the Red Army invaders. I know the soviets recieved huge amounts of money and arms during WWII from US to fight off the germans, but I'm thinking some of that might have been used against Finns in the second part of the war. Allied shame

  • @ordio1

Another shame was that brits and russians sanked those german ships at the Baltics. Mostly refugees in them.

Damn it! We had Marinesko on our sights many times. If the russians try to say that the Tallinn situation was the same it was not.

When USSR evacuated Tallinn in 1941 most of the people definetly were not wounded soldiers or refugees.

  • @ordio1 "Great Britain declared war on Finland because they were fighting the Red Army invaders." Actually GB declared war after Finnish army crossed the pre-Winter war border. :)

  • @GeneralCalculus

Sure pal. If you say so.

  • @ss90ss444 Ai olet sieki suomalaine? Tarkistin vasta äsken, vaikka yleensä tarkistan kansalaisuuden ennen vastaamista tai sen yhteydessä. :)

  • @GeneralCalculus GB made an ultimatum, if the finnish army doesn´t stop in given time the GB will declare war. In fact the finnish army took defencive position during that time, but GB declared still a war.

  • Id like to remind why i uploaded this video in the first place.

I uploaded it for people to watch and remember the war veterans (and fallen) who fought for Finlands independence.

i DID NOT upload this video to start a discussion forum.

  • @Suomipanzerdiv13 If people are in discussion, they honor them in memory. And if not, there is always us who respect greatly veterans, no matter what. So you do not need to worry about it.

  • @ss90ss444 What country are you from?

  • @ss90ss444 You're right. They didn't mass shoot civilians. They burned them with their houses.

  • @JohnBerenton

    Not even at Finnmark-

  • noi ulkomaan pellet ei tajuu et mitä suomalaiset yritti tavottaa menemäl saksalaiste puolelle....

  • @Suomipanzerdiv13 yes but the swedes still stapped the Norwegians in the back!.

  • Proud to be finnish!

  • My grandfather was a soldier in the Winter War and my grandmother was a nurse in it. Both were from Karjala and thankfully both still alive. Maximum respect to all Finns in the war.

  • Freedom

  • The finns old swedish union ofcourse they were brave!

  • @Suomipanzerdiv13 also good to know is that sweden sent 84 000 rifle, 450 mg 84 anti tank canon, 112 arty canons. 104 anti air canon, 45 miljon ammo, 300 000 shells, 32 aircraft, 300 seamines, and 500 sinkbombs, but finland did not only needed supplies also men to fight. so sweden was on finlands side even do they never went to war.

  • GREAT RESPECT FROM SWEDEN!!!

    U are TRUE HEROES

  • @Amdell8

Thats true! I think Norwegian resistance troops were the best in WW2

  • You know.... My grandfather was in Winter War. He shooted down many russian men. He died in Tali Ihantala.

    He is my hero.

    He is my hope.

Glory to the all finnish men!!!

    FOR THE FATHERLAND!!!

  • @TheAxuru i stand with you brother, my grand uncle also died during the winter war. He threw himself on a grenade to save his comrades for the fatherland

  • FOR THE FATHERLAND!!!

  • My biggest respect goes to Finland. Doom those Russian pigs who wanted to suck whole Europe. Thanks to USA Germany is free from these sick Russians.

  • rip all fallen soldiers who fought for independence

  • suomi on kova maa ;)

  • hmmm... Jotenki tuttu video. Käytitkö jotain hyper camia tai vastaavaa? No mutta ei anneta sen häiriä! kunniaa suomen veteraaneille ja niille jotka antoivat henkensä sen puolesta kiitos isöisä! R.I.P 1917-2007. Niin kyllä tässä tippa linssiin tulee... Kaunis musiikki myös ;)

  • @juippi44 siis kuoli vuon 2001

  • @homopaamies Olen aivan samaa mieltä! Meinaa kyllä tulla tippa linssiin ku kattoo näitä videoita. ;)

  • Respect allso for all volunteer soldiers from other countries that joined our troops back then. One thing im wondering, why did United Kingdom declear a war against US, democracy against democray war and do some bombing flights?

  • Suomi<3

  • Eläköön vapaa isänmaa!

  • Miksi tälläistä jenkki sontaa. Olisit laittanut Suomalaisen musiikin.

  • why they wear german helmets?

  • @weenus5 Germans helped Finland during civil war in 1918 by sending troops and material, or they can be finnish made helmets based on the german design.

  • L1sk et ois voinut paremmin sanoa :)

    kunnia kaikille veteraaneille:)

My own grandfather was in war and was captain he told me always "ryssä on ryssä eikä mikskää muutu," he was brave finnish soldier and he never gived up! so finns are bravest people of whole world! thanks for all war veterans!

  • just a quick comment - Stalin wanted Finland, the ordinary Russian wanted to be home but they had no choice. However this does not detract from the remarkable efforts of the Finns to keep their homeland free and I think this is a brill video to commemorate those brave Finns

  • Estonians (soomepoisid) are with you, back then and allways!!!

  • yeah, sometimes I wish that we in Finland and you in Estonia would form one single and sovereign country :D we are similar enough.

  • @riccokoppel And I salute you. We tried to help you all we could, when you had troubles with soviets and you did same to us although we both were in tight spot at the time . We are both small countries with people with big hearts and brotherly bond which will always make us dangerous to our enemies and gold for our allies.

  • @riccokoppel i feel really reliefed to hear that :)

  • @riccokoppel maybe you should get your own things right before you start helping others....

  • I posted here before but now i have to post again... I totally agree with you obubbubo. This is a tribute to FINNISH soldiers who served in the winter war, not you Russians. You started the war just because you thought that small Finland would be an easy target. Well, it didn't happen *spits* now if you'd be kind enough to leave us alone, and let us enjoy this wonderful video...

  • Eläköön suomalaiset ja "soomepoisid".

  • Marauder115 has a very valid point. Indeed, wasn't it enough that yous invaded unprovoked and without a warning INDEPENDENT and NEUTRAL nation.

Place is a tribute to fallen HEROES of that uninvited and even struggle.

So, what business do you, a product of those who participated in that ILLEGAL invasion; what business do you have to come come here (invade a memorial service) and blurt out your obscenities. None.

So kindly leave, and let people sorrow for their dead.

  • "Actually, new studies shows that the Soviet Union lost 300 000 or less"

LOL. Wonder who's conducted those "latest and more accurate" studies? Neo-stalinists, undoubtedly. Re-written and fabricated history a la these hoods is not worth the paper it's written on.

One of your post-stalin leaders, when sober, mentioned a figure far higher than that.

One to ten ratio tells who are the heroes. That is, for every one defender, ten ugly Russian invaders lost their lives. Yeah.

  • No the true heroes we're Finnish soldiers.

They stood against maybe the greatest military might of that time. Finland is such a small country.

Think, about 200 thousand Finns against 1,5 million russians. You just cant come here to praise russians. Its the same as I would say the Germans we're the heroes of ww2 becouse they ''we're victims of failed ideology named facism. We dont need any russian here to praise hes ancestors, donkeys/dogs of the communism ideology.

  • Narrator89 How the hell can you come in here and claim that the common russian soldier were the heroes. My god man, they were stupid enough to follow Stalin, to follow communism. Death is the only punishment fit enough for it. They attacked Finland! They paid the price, the only heroes were and always will be the brave finnish soldiers who with rifles and knives stood up against russian tanks, planes and artllery. Take your communistic ideals to another site!!

  • @savouryduck , of course the west did not supply the Finnish, being on the best way to the alliance with the Soviet Union.

  • well done to the finnish ppl :) from malta

  • Iam an old x Marine and would be proud to be in the Finish army any day.

  • The Finnish people have set a standard in the defense of their homeland during the Winter War which in all probabililty will never be exceeded by any other nation. The Finns lost 25,000 soldiers killed compaired to the Russians who lost 500,000. Brave Finland abondoned by the west and left on its own to defend itself against Communist Russia during Talvisota. Read "The Winter War" by Eloise Engle and Lauri Paananen. ISBN 0-8117-2433-6

  • Beautiful vid and Band of Brothers music is really nice.

  • This movie is called "Talvisota"? I want to see it! I'll google it. I found this video accidently and can't stop watching all the others branching off of it about when brave little Finland stood against the soviet giant. Too cool! I've always wanted to find out more about this. I have read many history books about WW2, but the Winter War is usually swallowed by what happened in the world just after. This movie looks interesting, I hope it is a little true-to-life? (unlike many hollywood)

  • Talvisota is something that cannot be written or told by couple of words. It is more documentary than movie, but still being a movie. It is not made like hollywood movies because this is much more like real life, real pain, real sacrifice. You'll have to watch it to understand .. or just to be Finn :)

  • I saw that movie, it was great! I also saw one called "The Ambush" and have been looking at videos here on youtube about the Winter War. Very interesting!

  • it is indeed

  • @skenos6 Finnish war movies are litle true-to-life, the movies many times happend in those real former battlefields and results are true-to-life. Something they do may sound unreal like stopping a tank with a bottle of gasoline or with a stock of wood, but those were about the only antitank weapons they had in winter war. Ofcourse there must be something unreal as its a movie, but its usually truelife-related. Myself I wonder why they havent use the war hero Simo Häyhä more in movies.

  • @skenos6 search "Talvisota 265" and click the first video

  • The finnish has always been aigainst manslaughter. The corporals or what they were who was meant to shoot all runaways did'nt do it in Finland.

  • fitting music, good movie, not good, but excellent tribute! five stars

  • SUOMI!

  • Honours to my grandfather, who fought in the Kollaa battle and got wounded fatally. Never saw him, but we remember and honour him allways.

  • my grandfather fought in this war and lost his right hand.. after recovering he came back to war and catched russians with dog or something like that.. He died 10 years ago and I still respect him very much.. Of course I also respect other soldiers who fought for free finland.. Thank you!

  • my great grandpa fought for Suomi near the Mannerheim line. he was there when a couple stalin tanks broke through the lline near Suuma and were destroyed by their own explosives. molotovs hehehehehe. he survived, but he got shot in the shoulder and in the leg. he told my grandpa about the war when he was older. about how the russians came in large numbers and were shot down by hundreds., and how he saw his friends die beside him. WAR IS HELL

  • Kauan eläköön Suomi ! Kauan eläköön urheat soturit jotka kaatuivat itsenäisyyden puolesta ! Hail Finland !

  • what movie is this?

  • finnish movie "Talvisota" (= Winterwar)

  • finland! finland! finland!

  • Finland! Finland! Finland! :)

  • Stalin just sent his men to death what a great leader (not)

  • My both grandparents fought in that war (like many other's granparents also). They also lost their house, land, and basically income to Soviets as they were forced to move away from Karelia. Fortunately Finns were able to hold back Red Army and my family was able to begin new life in freedom once again.

me and all of us who lives in this country do owe so much for people who made it possible to live free and prosper in our own land.

  • My fathers father was fighting the war in the winter war to and he got killed so i couldn't meet him ever. and sam whit my mothers father he fought in the war in china against japanese and he got also killed ... :'''( damn i hate it

  • My family and other cousins have lost our land to russians, we lived in karjala, they came and forced us to leave, generations of living and farming, we lost our lands, ill never forgot or forgive it, i hate russians with every cell in my body, and lands of my ancestors will belong to my family someday, even if ill have to go there and build it all back my self

  • @L1sk1 My family too is originally from karjala. But I do not hate all Russians. You cannot blame all Russians for what one man and one goverment wanted. The new generation of Russia has nothing to do with the war and what happened, I cannot understand some of my family members being agasint russians, I myself love Russia as a country, I hated what stalin did and honor the people that fought for Finland in the war. But Russia, is a good country despite that.

  • The best part is, we didn't even want the war. The russians framed the mainila shelling, and then they lost the war. Epic fail for them.

  • well we didn´t win the war as we surrenderd but it was even as the russians lost 1000000 soldiers and didn´t achive total victory.

  • poistas luvustasi nolla perästä niin oot lähempänä totuutta

  • Peace Treaty is a Peace Treaty. It is not "surrendering". Learn the difference.

  • Hail for brave people of Finland!!!

Hail for holding what is yours!!!

Hail for kicking some Russian asses!!!

    Long live Free Finland!!!

    Greetings from Serbia...

  • Comment removed

  • Great respect to Finland's people from Czech republic! What a courage, what a invention, what a unity... You showed the world, how a small, peacefull nation can fight for its freedom against tyrany.

  • Comment removed

  • Im shocked, out all all the nations at war, the only ones successful in halting other nations aggression was Finland, they stood in defiance of tyranny and used a guerilla force to do so. They sent the russians running home.

  • Always together against communism. Greetings from Serbia :)

  • Hell ya, better dead than red!

  • This is new version of this song for me atleast. So can u plz tell me what is it?

  • Greatest warriors of all time!

  • thats hardcore hahah

  • What do you mean? That was unnecessary.

  • ei ollut :)

  • I dont really see your point?

  • u said the first blood in this issue ;)

  • Still dont get what your complaining about.

  • Are you trying to lexure me about this matter? I know what Sweden had to do and not, and if you could just peep down my other comments, you'd see that I know what Germany did for Finland.

And at that time, before, during and after WW2 sweden would rather choose nazism instead of communism.

  • Everyone would. We should remember the situation before the war. The worst years in Stalins purges were 1937-1938. For example 42000 east-karelian men were shot in those years. Nazies did most of their crimes in years 1942-1945. First real deathcamps were opened in december 1941, so no-one really could know all about them before the war, but people knew something about Stalins crimes.

  • And, to anyone that thinks that I am critizing the finnish people, go back to bed. I am a finnish / swedish citizen and proud of my legacy. On both sides.

  • "all finns are pretty racist"

No! Its just normal "foreigner hostility" (if thats how its called).

I have never heard of a single case where a finn would have beaten up a colored foreigner.

On the other hand, the gypsies are treated worse, most cause of prejudice.

And i want to remind all who comment that any comment i find offensive will be removed.

  • Good that you are making some sense to these russians here mainilanlaukaisija. They still believe in their decades old propaganda. We have to make things right.

  • Well, Finnish are pretty racist and I dont understand if they are saying we are racist why all foreign people comes here.

  • I don´t think that most of the people have that thought about swedes, but I know that you have Henrik Arnstad who has been writing books about finnish WW2 and he is in Stalins side and points that "Finlands sak var inte vår".

  • Well thats one commie bastard. I think that atleast 90% of the Swedes that know who Finland sided with in WWll knows that they did what they did because noone else would ally with them against the russkies. Finland would not have suruvived without the aid of Germany and Sweden.

I say Sweden because in the war Sweden was neutral, but declared itself Non Belligrent in the finnish conflict and sent over troops and machinery.

Just like USA did with Britain before they joined the war directly.

  • There was not significant troops from Sweden, but in some special troops and some machinery was partly swedish. For example finnish intelligence was finnish/swedish/estonian. And the codebrakers got some fame.

  • No, I'm not saying that Sweden made a very large miliraty interaction. About 4000 troops, but aint that something?

Also, more significant aid was through food and financial aid. But Sweden couldent send a major combatforce into Finland, because of the oath of never being belligrent in a war again.

  • In fact in Finland there was 8000 men. Yes that is something. What I meant significicant was something crucial. Finnish mobilisation was about 500 000 men.

Specially in the winter war, the economical aid was very important. It could have a different result without it. One thing is that the russians tried to cut Finland from the middle and isolate her from Sweden, but their divisions were destroyed in Raatteentie.

  • True, but my point is; Both Germany and Sweden made significant difference in the war in favor of the finns. I never liked the Russ, I actually resent them. But dont try to compare finnish mobilisation with the swedes voulenteers, as mobalising a much larger force would sureley drag Sweden into the war.

As a swedish-finn, I also hope like Finnish Patriot, that the russ and others that dosent know history, can read these posts and see what really happend. Not the romantization of russian books.

  • We don´t know that. I have red about the russian plans and they had counted that the swedes could send about two divisions. (the winter war) I would think that they wouldn´t dare declare a war against Sweden in that case, because the russians wanted to go further without unnecessary risks. And the war against Sweden could influence to other big powers, who were interested in swedish iron. And everyone thought in 1939 that the british were superior compared to russians (maybe Stalin also).

  • Comment removed

  • HEIL Suomi.OOT maasta rakkain.

  • ss90ss444, you'r completely right. They could have given us militaristic help but they didn't.

I totally respect swedish volunteers though.

  • im finnish and my grand grand father wuz fighting in this war and died capturing 3 riussians alone :,( i say that 5 stars to this

  • Pelkurimainen ja epäoikeutettu teko rehellistä demokratiaa kohtaan.

  • "mainilian laukaukset" oli pelkurimainen teko venäläisiltä.

  • Salutations to every finnish soldier who fought in this desperate and unfair war... Im really proud of of my finnish ancestry, and every finn should be! And to everyone here who thinks that we are nazis just because we allied with Germany, keep it to yourself. We did that only because NO ONE ELSE WAS INTERESTED IN PRESERVING OUR FREEDOM!

  • i think no one still thinks finns are nazis

  • "i think no one still thinks finns are nazis"

Russians and swedes do but I don"t care. I know that as long as Germany and germans are our friends then thinks will be ok.

  • im not very familiar with finland but sweden and finland are like super brother countries??? such as argentina and uruguay???

  • Take super away so we are more near of truth. We have mostly same culture and we have been same country more than 600 years. In WW2 sweden gave a lot voluntairy help to Finland, for example 100000 children were transfered to safe from Finland to Sweden. Offical Sweden still watched out that they were not directly involved to the war.

  • Take a breath. Very good, you know google. You are not so stupid kid that I thought.

Nazies helped you ruskies in the Winter war. Thats how it is and you still couldn´t conquer 50 times smaller country. That is what I call humiliation.

And you couldn´t occupy 1944 either.

  • And the well continues sprouting...

  • i hope there will be peace between U.S and finland there is the so called NORBOTTEN or in finish POHJANMAAT ho keep together like glue sweden norway finland island thnks to that they were ones in the time same country

  • I was last year in the north hiking with my friend and there was once two samis in same hut with us. I didn´t understand a word, becase they were speaking sami. And that was in Finland.

  • Someone should ban this silly lunatic 'outskool100' from making ignorant and unnecessary comments here. To do so would be a stroke of literative, military, scientific, & humaitarian etc. genius.

  • finish soldiers are noot brave finland is a friend of nazi germany they not brave they facism long live russia!

  • The USSR wanted to join the axis still in 1941, but it was rejected. And this is from the Winter war 1939-40, which is one conclusion of Molotov-Ribbentrop -pact. In the winter war the nazies embargoed Finland and fueled soviet submarines attacking finnih ships.

  • The Nazi's helped out Finland during the Winter War. They didn't help Russia in anyway. Where did you get your facts from?

  • JoDaddyy, you should read more history! If you are finnish, here is on book to check facts about german aid to the USSR in the Winter war. Pentti Virrankoski, Suomen historia, osa 2, 2001, sivu 881. The german-soviet co-operation was quite deep in that period for example some of the german troops which occupated Norway came from secret maritine base from Kola penisula. The german diplomatic documents are easy to find in the net about soviet willingness to join the axis.
