I am 40- I experienced the later part of the 1970', ALL the 1980', the 1990' and so far, up to 2009. Usually what happens is when a style of music tires out, it always revives back somehow about 20 years later
Hey chekdis1, I know what you mean. These were some of the funnest years of my life. I was in college then, so you can let your imagine go from there. These were also my club hitting days, as every DJ at almost every club I went to was playing this group's music along with many others. Too bad it has to come to an end so soon!
I was a kid in the 80s but I remember so well the music.ABC Hayzee Fantayzee Kajagoogoo etc.I agree how sad it all came to an abrubt end.I know my big sister used to go to Tabou and danced with Leigh Bowery(RIP) Marilyn Billy Boy etc. Miss you Sis...
Yes, Fiona Russell - Powell was only with the group for their "how to be a zillionaire" album in 1985. She was a British journalist who wrote articles for the magazine ...."The Face" in the 80's. She was 22 yrs old in this video and a very hot looking babe indeed!.... "Jagar"
Absolutely pmsan...If I recall, I think those "tinkling" synth keys were one of the earliest uses of the amazing Fairlight synth. ("Fairlite?"). This was very cutting edge sound for this time period. Lovely song. They have also always performed it excellently live.
WOW I remember the girls with the Aqua net hair spray and me and my friends cruising Hollywood Blvd in the mid 80's ..great memories..great times..damm somebody find me A time machine I want to go back...
i really wish i waz born in the eighties all the fun styles and how cum we dont have any more legends anymore lyk MJ Journey A-Ha ABC and many more????
There is nothing wrong with nastalgia..especially when it was a great time in one persons life..especially with all the B.S. that goes on in this world...
This is one of my most favorite songs by ABC. This is actually the very first ABC song I ever heard and could never get it out of my head. ABC rocks!!
I agree with hectordavila1972, 1980's not only was all she said. But birthed so many new forms of popular music today. Songs the are being re-done over today by rock groups and country artist. Because they were original and timeless classics.
a great song of the 80' this song make me to remember that times when the music was music not like today , I think that the performers of today can't sing
but we have a clasic like this forever ABC and the performer has a beautiful voice
Awesome song!! I was in HS in the '80's, and we used to sing ABC at our lockers...not loud, but I heard some guys singing with me. I went to all-boys-school, so we dreamed alot. It's sad that there isn't a positive attitude now, to inspire young moods these days. Yea, the '80s were great, now that I look back. I hope kids will have hopes again.
one of my favorite 80's videos! Love the camera work - circling around the band members and the the funky costumes. They just don't make as many cool & wacky videos like this one these days. :(
I still get a woody when i see the "babe" in this video, my god she was stunning. Great song, damn good group, and what a babe!! She alone could solve the middle east issue! God Bless her!
To be oneself is scary to many, as some concern themselves so much about what others think, and it has brought many beautiful people to the brink.
All need to distictly separate privatre live from public life. If you are secure you know already your days are not long in the world; if you are in the world. Ultimately YOU choose what you lose, and loose.
Take ownership of your speak and if it needs reins. . . then
I was working at burger king back in 2005 and heard this song all of time on the satelite radio. I have been looking for this song for 4 years and I finally have found it. I love this song. This song takes my mind into a fantasy world. I love this song. Go ABC!!!!!
I remember hearing this song for the first time in the mid 80s at the now defunct Mervyns department store. My grandparents took me out to buy a Members only Jacket. I remember my grandfather proudly rocking his black jacket while my grandma was wearing a beige one LOL. They purchased me a maroon jacket and I rolled the sleeves up thinking I was cool. underneath the jacket I wore a pink shirt with a rat drinking beer that said "Party AnimalL LOl trying to copy Miami Vice! I love this song !!!!!
chistler, let me guess your son likes rap.and what is rap?classy.thats the cheesiest shit ive seen.with that same bass loop.rap sucks.long live the 80s!!
One thing I enjoy about videos like this was that the artists were not worried about looking cool. There was a sense of fun that isn't as common in today's music and videos. That said, the hair close-ups were just as creepy then as they were. Cheers!
they thought they looked cool at the time. 80's had alot of flair and flash and creativity. As for the hair, i dont think its that creepy, they kept it clean thats what counts in my opinion.
Definitely! British New Wave music was truly awesome; so creative and upbeat; music's version of Impressionism in art. God, why did it ever have to end... I'm just glad that I am just old enough to have memories of the '80s. Kids today don't realize what they're missing-out on
Ok 1980 to about 1986 were cool. It was the real "80s" if a chunk of years could be an entity, 80-86 was the cool person you wanted to hang with. After that the 80's started becoming an embarrassing mockery of itself. All the way up until about 1991 when grunge hit, by that time it was just plain awful, including movies music hairstyles etc. Long live the early 80's.
Aren't the videos from the early to mid 80's amazingly creative and imaginitive! Back then, a video didn't have to make sense to be cool. Artist pretty much did what they felt like doing. One things for sure, they were very fun to watch!....."Jagar"
Actually back then videos seemed to tell a good story, mixed in with hip images of the performers. Now it's a jumbled mix of insanity where the camera barely holds still long enough to figure out what the fuck is going on. The problem? Media and everything is being controlled by not only a younger audience but a younger conglomerate of "talent" and I used that term loosely. The people responsible for these creations are basically still kids themselves and it shows in a most Attention Deficit way
Couldn't fit all this in in one paragraph but I really think institutions of higher learning should have a graduating age minimum. Say you can't graduate and enter the professional world until you're at least 30. That goes for having children marriage and all that. No one should be allowed to do anything until age 30 but shut the fuck up and sit there quietly.
Ha Ha Ha!..... I totally agree dude! You hit the nail on the head. Younger conglomorate, yes......"Talent" NO!... And A.D.D. to boot, makes for crappy vids. And that 30 year old parole time is a pretty good idea too....."Jagar"
Hey , I like this song it's part of my youth. I did'nt mean gay in a bad way. Alot of 80s music was gay culture club, wham, madonna, why do you think they call it the gayties.
Sure fashion wasn't all that great, but the movies, and music were always finding ways to kill in comparison to todays lackluster attempt at making a steady beat, or memorable chorus line.
I don't understand why VH1 Classic can't air videos from the 60's, 70's, 80's 24/7 Who cares about these documentaries they've shown a million times over.
"How To Be A Zillionaire" was a cool concept album by ABC- they even had cartoon images of themselves on the album inner sleeve & one video. Not sure what happened to the two suport/backup musicians(little bald guy & sexy girl), but they should have kept them!
Hey, great nostalgic stuff! This was my college music! This song was played in many a night clubs in those days. Kudos to you for sharing it here with us. Good job and many thanks! I loved this band!
