  • Where does this song take me back too? England 1986 what a great time I had there, great people, great music and great food !

  • i want to experience the 80's so badly!

  • They were pretty damn cool growing up. I miss them myself from time to time.

  • I am 40- I experienced the later part of the 1970', ALL the 1980', the 1990' and so far, up to 2009. Usually what happens is when a style of music tires out, it always revives back somehow about 20 years later

  • THE FULL BLOWN OF MTV ERA!!!! 80s

  • I like how the video starts in black and white then explodes in to a kaleidoscope of intense colors.

  • God I love the 80's

  • Hey chekdis1, I know what you mean. These were some of the funnest years of my life. I was in college then, so you can let your imagine go from there. These were also my club hitting days, as every DJ at almost every club I went to was playing this group's music along with many others. Too bad it has to come to an end so soon!

    Ken Palmer

  • I was a kid in the 80s but I remember so well the music.ABC Hayzee Fantayzee Kajagoogoo etc.I agree how sad it all came to an abrubt end.I know my big sister used to go to Tabou and danced with Leigh Bowery(RIP) Marilyn Billy Boy etc. Miss you Sis...

but then again id be a lot older than i am now!

    LOL

  • once, my tv broke while this video was on, noooooooooo!

  • Ouch! That had to hurt! The TV breaking in the middle of an ABC song or video? Definite tragedy!

    Ken Palmer

  • I love ABC their music is good my high school days

  • What is doing there the cousin of Gwen Stefani?!?

  • P.S. But sadly the "hot chick in the black hat" was only there for this album if memory serves.

  • Yes, Fiona Russell - Powell was only with the group for their "how to be a zillionaire" album in 1985. She was a British journalist who wrote articles for the magazine ...."The Face" in the 80's. She was 22 yrs old in this video and a very hot looking babe indeed!.... "Jagar"

  • I love abc the sound of the 80s

  • What weird looking girls

  • Martin Fry still rocks... !!!

  • Another ABC classic!

  • Man that chick in the black hat is hot.

....BTW this tune is classic, something about those tinkling synth keys with the gutteral bassline, simply HEAVENLY!!

    5 stars

  • Absolutely pmsan...If I recall, I think those "tinkling" synth keys were one of the earliest uses of the amazing Fairlight synth. ("Fairlite?"). This was very cutting edge sound for this time period. Lovely song. They have also always performed it excellently live.

  • LSS! love this song!! :)

  • Well-crafted pop classic. Really nice to have on in the background while driving.

    Thanks for putting this up.

  • i really wish i waz born in the eighties all the fun styles and how cum we dont have any more legends anymore lyk MJ Journey A-Ha ABC and many more????

  • well, becuase you usually dont realize how cool a person or group is until a fad has passed.

  • There is nothing wrong with nastalgia..especially when it was a great time in one persons life..especially with all the B.S. that goes on in this world...

  • These fellas have been eating too many Fruity Pebbles.

  • THIS SONG JUST MOVES ME!

  • Thats the early 80's for ya... just the style back then, think of the bling and diamond teeth of todays music!

  • LOL! Funny! Proof, if proof were needed, that there was something intrinsically wrong with the 80s

  • You can't beat ABC for danceable pop with style. Absolutely 5 stars from me...

  • I think Eden was one of the most influencial drummers ever !

  • This is one of my most favorite songs by ABC. This is actually the very first ABC song I ever heard and could never get it out of my head. ABC rocks!!

  • great song really, a guilty pleasure but one i never forgot

  • all i ask is tha u be near me yet you won't. i'm lost.

  • Holy moly!!

  • I agree with hectordavila1972, 1980's not only was all she said. But birthed so many new forms of popular music today. Songs the are being re-done over today by rock groups and country artist. Because they were original and timeless classics.

  • hhahaha well said

  • One of my top 10 songs; all genre's. On a side note, that guitarist sure is a wittle guy ain't he :)

  • You know a tune is great if it gets stuck in your head and you wouldn't have it any other way. And this would be one of them my brothers and sisters.

  • LOVE ABC and Spandau Ballet. My fav ABC song is Poisen Arrow...but really like this song too!

  • I don't know why, but I really love this song:)

  • Martin Fry looks a little bit like Bryan Ferry from Roxy Music.

  • Be near me......I love you !!!!

  • I love this song. Brings back great memories.

  • a great song of the 80' this song make me to remember that times when the music was music not like today , I think that the performers of today can't sing

but we have a clasic like this forever ABC and the performer has a beautiful voice

  • I thought it was the Simple Minds that sang this. ABC rocks!

  • great song reminds me of being in San Diego on vacation when I was twelve chillin at Sea World not a care in the world

  • god I miss 80's music

  • Awesome song!! I was in HS in the '80's, and we used to sing ABC at our lockers...not loud, but I heard some guys singing with me. I went to all-boys-school, so we dreamed alot. It's sad that there isn't a positive attitude now, to inspire young moods these days. Yea, the '80s were great, now that I look back. I hope kids will have hopes again.

  • I agree that nowadays isnt as positive as the 80's was

  • one of my favorite 80's videos! Love the camera work - circling around the band members and the the funky costumes. They just don't make as many cool & wacky videos like this one these days. :(

  • The Magic of the 80's nothing like it ever........

  • You can say that again!

  • THE BEST EVER,,,I LOVE IT...

  • I was born in 1986 and I love this song

  • I still get a woody when i see the "babe" in this video, my god she was stunning. Great song, damn good group, and what a babe!! She alone could solve the middle east issue! God Bless her!

  • whos twrites his SLAK?

  • great song! abc had a unique sound. lead singer looks like john tesh.

  • Why do some people think this song is gay?

  • when smokey sings is another one of their awesome classics

  • Takes me back to when times were the best of times!!!

  • one of my greatest , resolution pt, /2:07/ and the remarkable solo-image'

  • Song takes me back to better days.

  • To be oneself is scary to many, as some concern themselves so much about what others think, and it has brought many beautiful people to the brink.

All need to distictly separate privatre live from public life. If you are secure you know already your days are not long in the world; if you are in the world. Ultimately YOU choose what you lose, and loose.

Take ownership of your speak and if it needs reins. . . then

  • I was working at burger king back in 2005 and heard this song all of time on the satelite radio. I have been looking for this song for 4 years and I finally have found it. I love this song. This song takes my mind into a fantasy world. I love this song. Go ABC!!!!!

  • 1987, ABC still kicked ass. I'm straight as an arrow, and dug this song in college.

  • アレンジもPVもScritti Polittiなワケですね

    でも25年後の今聴くと、コレはコレで。

  • they must cringe when they see this video. good song though. anyone know if they were gay?

  • very melodic... the 90's till then music industry were collapse

when i turn on the radio... geezz only groove and groove !!!

  • Good song.

  • I want the keyboard player's style - lol. What is this video, 24 years old? Looks cool to me.

  • The little guy playing the weird guitar looks that old guy from the six flags commercial hahah!

  • Or Elmer Fudd...

  • I remember hearing this song for the first time in the mid 80s at the now defunct Mervyns department store. My grandparents took me out to buy a Members only Jacket. I remember my grandfather proudly rocking his black jacket while my grandma was wearing a beige one LOL. They purchased me a maroon jacket and I rolled the sleeves up thinking I was cool. underneath the jacket I wore a pink shirt with a rat drinking beer that said "Party AnimalL LOl trying to copy Miami Vice! I love this song !!!!!

  • its years its years love this

  • chistler, let me guess your son likes rap.and what is rap?classy.thats the cheesiest shit ive seen.with that same bass loop.rap sucks.long live the 80s!!

  • chsitler: Tell your son you can look as cheesy and daggy as you like if you can create music like this. Cheers!

  • the 80's in the 21st Century are ALIVE AND KICKING

  • Oh man...does this bring back memories.

My son calls this 80's cheese...but i say if it's cheese, it's like a well aged brie.

Something about the contrast of the upper register keyboards against the bass and drums.

  • ..."but i say if it's cheese, it's like a well aged brie"

    LOL

  • this song always makes me think of the two Corey's from the 80's.....weird

  • lol

  • One thing I enjoy about videos like this was that the artists were not worried about looking cool. There was a sense of fun that isn't as common in today's music and videos. That said, the hair close-ups were just as creepy then as they were. Cheers!

  • they thought they looked cool at the time. 80's had alot of flair and flash and creativity. As for the hair, i dont think its that creepy, they kept it clean thats what counts in my opinion.

  • Definitely! British New Wave music was truly awesome; so creative and upbeat; music's version of Impressionism in art. God, why did it ever have to end... I'm just glad that I am just old enough to have memories of the '80s. Kids today don't realize what they're missing-out on

  • the 80's was the shyt back then alot of good music from the UK i loved it allllll.....:)))

  • Ahhhh, the 80s

The best 10 yrs of my life

  • best 6 months for me man...

  • love the camera work

  • Could Martin Fry & Mark White be any sexier?!!! I think not.... 8^)))

  • who is the chick anyone know?

  • The chick is none other than Fiona Russell - Powell....AKA "Eden"........"Jagar"

  • Ok 1980 to about 1986 were cool. It was the real "80s" if a chunk of years could be an entity, 80-86 was the cool person you wanted to hang with. After that the 80's started becoming an embarrassing mockery of itself. All the way up until about 1991 when grunge hit, by that time it was just plain awful, including movies music hairstyles etc. Long live the early 80's.

  • late 80's and early 90's had some good music also.

  • Aren't the videos from the early to mid 80's amazingly creative and imaginitive! Back then, a video didn't have to make sense to be cool. Artist pretty much did what they felt like doing. One things for sure, they were very fun to watch!....."Jagar"

  • Actually back then videos seemed to tell a good story, mixed in with hip images of the performers. Now it's a jumbled mix of insanity where the camera barely holds still long enough to figure out what the fuck is going on. The problem? Media and everything is being controlled by not only a younger audience but a younger conglomerate of "talent" and I used that term loosely. The people responsible for these creations are basically still kids themselves and it shows in a most Attention Deficit way

  • Couldn't fit all this in in one paragraph but I really think institutions of higher learning should have a graduating age minimum. Say you can't graduate and enter the professional world until you're at least 30. That goes for having children marriage and all that. No one should be allowed to do anything until age 30 but shut the fuck up and sit there quietly.

  • Now that's a rant... Nice work

  • Ha Ha Ha!..... I totally agree dude! You hit the nail on the head. Younger conglomorate, yes......"Talent" NO!... And A.D.D. to boot, makes for crappy vids. And that 30 year old parole time is a pretty good idea too....."Jagar"

  • I totally agree. Very well put, I couldn't have said it better myself.

  • I can't wait for Toronto Pride!

  • Great band, great video, great song. I liked it in 1986 at jr high dances and i like it still. I never considered it gay, straight or otherwise.

Go make fun of some other generations music but leave my 80's alone. Get a grip.

  • Brings backs memories of my childhood

  • Hey , I like this song it's part of my youth. I did'nt mean gay in a bad way. Alot of 80s music was gay culture club, wham, madonna, why do you think they call it the gayties.

  • Martin Fry looks like Bowie or Robert Plant

  • well, Bowie and Robert Plant are both British Like Martin Frye

  • if you weren't alive during the 1980s, you've never been nor never will be alive

    best. decade. ever.

  • I couldn't agree any less.

84' baby, and loved every minute.

Sure fashion wasn't all that great, but the movies, and music were always finding ways to kill in comparison to todays lackluster attempt at making a steady beat, or memorable chorus line.

    Rock Out 80's Always

  • Hell fuck yeaah!

    No decade can compare.

  • So this is where Moby got started.

  • And he went on to work as spokesman for Magic Mountain.

  • That's not Moby; His name is David Yarritu. If you're talking about the bald guy.

  • is it me or does martin frye look sort of like chris crocker with long hair? lol

  • Leave Martin alone!!!!

Less f bombs and crying like a weenie as well.

  • great song, idiotic video

  • Wait a minute, that girl isn't really playing those drums!! And hey, those aren't even real instruments!!@$%! What the hell is going here?? ; )

  • Martin Fry was genius.

  • i love this song but my hubby says it reminds him of a quir song. but i love it

  • Gay or not the song is very good.

  • It's just slightly to the rear of heterosexual.

    Hey, I love the group/song

  • hey dude that was the style of some of THE FRICKEN GNARLLY songs back then

    look up new order

    they have it

    in some songs

  • There is nothing f$#@#&G GAY ABOUT THIS BEAUTIFUL SONG

  • What a concept!

  • Timeless song right here!

  • ABC defined smooth pop music back in the 80's.

Todays so called "pop" music sucks very bad, and can not even hold a candle to ABC's worse songs.

  • I don't understand why VH1 Classic can't air videos from the 60's, 70's, 80's 24/7 Who cares about these documentaries they've shown a million times over.

  • Man, this song takes me back to 85, 86 . Looking at it now , I did'nt realize how gay it was.

  • Well I for one love it.Seriously.LOL

  • What's gay about it?

  • So many memories, you know how you hear a certain song & the memories just come back to you

  • No.

    Just kidding. Yes.

  • "How To Be A Zillionaire" was a cool concept album by ABC- they even had cartoon images of themselves on the album inner sleeve & one video. Not sure what happened to the two suport/backup musicians(little bald guy & sexy girl), but they should have kept them!

  • pop brilliance

  • at 0:56 the guy looks like a combination of matthew broderick and sacha baron cohen's character "bruno"

  • When M-TV was music .. now it's a bunch of all of that

  • Are you serious about this fatograph? I hope you didn't get arrested for that!

    Ken Palmer

  • Jr. year of high school...thanks for that stroll down memory lane. :)
