  • Derek is amazing man. That video where he spoke to Arnold and then Proposed to his girlfriend was amazing.. I truly felt like clapping and cheering at my seat lol

  • Finally a video of someone lifting real weights!

  • He was just on the worlds strongest man competetion

  • Wow, he can bench more than me, I can only do 475.

  • @ElRancholo2 JAJAJA pussy I can bench 1000 lb and I'm 5 years old.

  • no smile after :)

  • What is a strong motherfucker

  • suicide grip... awesome. it "isolated the pecs" is what i hear from youtube experts

  • well that spotter looks stable.

  • as a lifelong strongman fan,in my oppinion-derek poundstone is without dout, one of the strongest men to have ever walked this planet/ever lived!

  • Derek Poundstone is such a perfect name for a huge weight lifter like him, haha.

  • beast

  • You guys are fuckin stupid.. Specially the guy who says it's 450.. It's 495 which is pretty much 500hundred..

  • @TRDUMBO there are 2.5's on there too. but they are a weird gray color that makes them difficult to see. and i agree with you 100%, doesn't even look like 450. just count the plates, its clearly AT LEAST 495

  • Derek can handle the weight, all the "old guy" has to is take 50 pounds at the very most of pressure from the lift in order to allow derek to return the bar to its resting postion if he was to struggle. Spotters dont need to be the incredible hulk in order to spot someone that is doing a heavy weight. As long as the lifter is comfortable at the weight then its fine.

  • watch out for that suicide grip tho ahaha, nicely donee

  • @harvpila 45(lbs/plate) * 10(number of plates on bar) + weight of bar = ?

    welcome to math class

  • I wish I was that strong; honestly I wonder how it must be to be inside of a strong man's body, everything must be so light and easy to lift.

  • it's only 450 not 500 lbs.. but still this guy is a monster...

  • @harvpila Count the bar dummy...

  • MONSTER!!! Awesome lift dude.

  • Hey, if your like 6'3 and can bench 500, thats more impressive than a 5 foot guy benching 700..

  • @ThorCogburn wtf no its not.. are you retarted ?

  • good god!!!im 6ft tall and weigh 12 stone.im not into training although id like to be if i had the time....i squeezed out 2 reps at 100 kg...this guy makes me look about as weak as a 3 year old!!!! think if i trained every day for ten years id never be able to bench half that!amazing!!!

  • @theboxingboy1 so you wouldnt be able to increase ur bench by 12kg in 10 year? ps you didnt bench 100kg

  • Nice pink bookbag

  • it's spelled four

  • holy shit i would be scared to death that the rack wouldnt snap from that much weight

  • lol now thats a beast

  • Respect to him no bench pressing shirt

  • soft

  • ronnie coleman can do 500 lbs for reps, what make strongman so weak to to a bench press?

  • @johnyongck

    benching isnt important in strongman.

deadlift and squat are more important, but there is so much versatility required in strongman that you cannot name just those.

  • @johnyongck he just recovered from a pectoral tear. this was not his best as ronnie colemans was

  • wow very impressive

  • im pretty sure that old guy wont b enough to spot derek

  • @Sherwin930 That "old guy" could beat your ass. HA!

  • @Sherwin930 jay cutler gets spotted by his 45kg wife....there is just a little help needed for getting the barbell up.

  • @Sherwin930

I'm sick of seeing comments like these... You are obviously amateur weightlifters who aren't well educated in terms of weight training.

A spotter is not meant to lift the entire weight from you and pull it to the rack. A spotter is there to ASSIST you in lifting it, when you come to the point when you aren't able to lift the full weight.

All that man has to do is assist this guy in getting it off of him, and when he went for the 3rd rep, the spotter did just that. Watch it.

  • lol he was going to bicep curl 500lb

  • @chuckcanavi andy hamman struggled flipping a 600 pound tire once....

  • Suicide grip makes me hella nervous...

  • Holy shit .. you're a fucking brute!!!

  • That was really fucking STRONG!!!

  • @chuckcanavi Hahahahh what, a bodybuilder?

Aw shit, you should do your research before posting silly shit on youtube.

  • Why is it that every strongman video I go and watch on youtube, some Ronnie Coleman nut-hugger is always on here commenting how "ronnie is stronger", "ronnie can do that", "ronnie is better looking".

This is poundstone. Not Ronnie. Go F Yourself

  • @csmanuel86 leverone did that with better form.

  • how big are poundstone arms ?

  • eff thats alot of weight congrats bro! im just doin 450 myself..eat train..sleep!!

  • and thumb under the bar even, pretty impressive

  • Poundstone > Bodybuilding

  • THat is sick

  • i bet if i talk to him, he would had 2 more in him.

  • @stryker4750

Just to highlight the difference, compare Ronnie's famous deadlifting video to Poundstone's 800 for 9, of which only the last one was hitched. Even with the "drained for Olympia" difference accounted for, I doubt Coleman could have hit more than half the clean reps Poundstone got.

  • @tgtennis i was only speaking about benchpress not the whole strenght compared of both athlete against each other

  • @stryker4750

I got that, or at least you weren't implying bodybuilders are generally as strong or stronger than straight-up strength athletes, but I felt that it might be good to offer some possible reasons for it, or at least contributing factors.

  • @stryker4750

Sorry, not to harp on this but I just check Ronnie's video and most of those were partial reps, I'd say. Not a knock on him, of course, as that is perfectly valid BB training and still beastly work, but comparing 8 partials to 2.5 regular while coming back from an injury starts to get hazy.

  • @tgtennis lmao....right before coleman did olympia he was in his weakest phase...coleman can probably max out 5 to 6 reps

  • @GrandMasterBison

As draining as the dieting process can be, I'd hesitate to claim it cut his reps to a third. It might have been possible for him to eke out a third rep on that day - I couldn't tell if it was planned as a double or if he maxed out at 2. I put my initial estimate at 4, and perhaps 5 reps as you say, but more than that seems to be a rather large jump. I'm no expert on strength loss during dieting - but tripling the observed reps is a ton. I'd be open to evidence of that, though

  • @stryker4750

You have to recall that strongmen often suck at the bench relative to their other lifts. This is because the bench is not a directly tested lift in strongman - hasn't been for a long time. They are, however, the world's premier overhead pressers along with O-lifters.

For powerlifter/strongman cross-competitors, it can be a different story of course. Brian Siders, for example, is the IPF's record holder in the bench

There's also the volume vs intensity tradeoff in the diff sports

  • That's Very dangerous only a trained person should try benching that much, because you can drop it on your neck, and brake vessel. Or when you lift you can easily pop a muscle that would be very painful,

  • I had suicide grip. So dangerous.

  • I respect this clip , very well done . He actually showed how heavy each plate is not like the other clips that they say 500lb bench press 10 reps and they're using fake plates that just look like 45lbs.

  • I wish I could Press a button and a Meteorite fell on the head of a person every time the word "Steroids" and "Fatass" were brought up when talking about a powerlifter or bodybuilder. Don't disrespect this sport because your Mom And Dad have shitty genetics and passed them on to you

  • @stfuandLiftBtCh its 500lbs, there are 2.5lbs's on the ends

  • crazy shit

  • @BB4liffe it would be 2 2.5's on it to make it 500,

and if you notice there are 2.5's on there

  • also i think alot of people are missing something what derek is doing here are real clean reps as in all the way down then all the way up until ur elbows lock out look at pretty much anyone that benches alot and they always have these reps where the bar does not even touch there chest and they use other muscles to jerk it back up and many times to even lock out there elbows

  • holly shit

    your a beast

  • Nice work the suicide grip scares the shit out of me lol I tried it with 405 It felt really good stable but its not for me lol

  • easy. jk

  • @Mrvoodoochild1 agreed man that kid is full of shit bc if thats true that basterd would have millions of dollars now and he would be a household name

  • How many reps can Poundstone do when he's fully recovered? I've Seen Stan Efferding do seven so I'm gonna guess ten

  • @1JayCutlerFan1 Well.. keep in mind that Derek is not a powerlifter and doesn't focus on his bench as much as Stan.. but Stan would never beat Derek in a strongman competition.

  • @MetalCamelChannel There's so many differences and so many similarities between bodybuilding, powerlifting, and strongman...

Stan probably has a higher bench but Poundstone has a higher deadlift... I don't know about squat though

  • @MetalCamelChannel i agree with yah man. stan could never beat derek in strongman. derek can do some lifts that efferding couldnt like clean n press 400 for reps, 1 hand db press 200 for reps

  • @MetalCamelChannel if hes not a powerlifter what is he?

  • alright man one word ... Beast!

  • i can do about 140 for about 8 so its gonna take me a while to do 500lbs for 2.lol

  • good raw bench, control.not bumping, good luck for wsm.

  • @BigPapaBear1000 No, but I did first bench 300 at 12.

  • @Mrvoodoochild1 I am being serious.

That is what I bench, 410lbs raw no straps with a partial pause at the bottom.

Believe it or not, but not believing it doesn't change the fact that I still CAN do it.

    :)

  • way ayıı

  • whaaaaaat, thats fuckin beast, as if.....

  • nice!

  • there really should be two spotters.

  • i can bench 1350..... 135 for 10

  • im 13 200lbs and i can bench 410 raw

  • @13andincrediblycut good for you.

  • i think i once saw him in an airport wearing those pants

  • thats all? lol

  • god bless u

  • I bench 500 all the time...then I Wake Up!

  • has there ever been anyone to bench so much the bar bends or breaks

  • @nfarnham2008 It can't its pure steel duh!

  • Every time I see someone use that grip I get nervous. You got it though, kudos.

  • that was impressive

  • @DjPyro2010 i dont have the funds to get it going. plus the catch is having an over sized man doing the slamming. a guy of my size doing that to woman would just look like a real fight. this is for entertainment.

  • @swaapo

Why would you need money just to slam somebody?

  • I remember at Iron Island Gym, Alameda, CA, seeing Lee Moran bench 5 wheels for an easy set of 10, no shirt, Lee hated shirts.

  • what is that like 800 pounds of pressure on that poor bench set :(

  • Fuck. I'd be stoked if I ever hit a 500lb/ 227KG squat, let alone bench.

  • benching with a false grip absolute monster

  • u guys do realize 90% of females find this body type disgusting

  • @thabooger obviously derek doesn't give a fuck

  • @thabooger let's hope so

  • @thabooger You do realize that this guy has a hotass wife?

  • @thabooger nah it's more like 50%

  • i cant understand why some bodybuilders have similar strenght to power lifters.coleman did 495 for 10 hald reps

  • @phleidhs tho bodybuilders do get close or sometimes even pass some powerlifters they never beat them at there exercises like aaron07311 said

  • @TheCloverfieldchris yes there are a decent amount of people who can bench 500lbs 3 times, but its not about the bench. im sure he RARELY even tries to bench press sinse its not mandatory in his sport. now an excercise that is in his sport is the single arm dumbell cirus press where he does a 200lb dumbell in one arm for over 10 reps. take a guy that isnt a wsm athlete who can match dereck`s bench and tell him to try that...i doubt he could do it for one rep

  • this man claims to be Americas Strongest Man but i just dont know....that bench press set was pretty average for an elite athlete. i think brian shaw a better us rep

  • @TheCloverfieldchris

Worlds strongest man has very little to do with chest training at all. Its all squats deads, overheads and grip. Even Kevin Nee said he only trains chest a few times a year.

  • @dargomaniac actually having a strong bench press carries over to having a strong log press.alot of people tend to think the bench press exercise is only a vanity lift but i dissagre....its the best exercise to building strong chest, triceps and deltoids. anybody that doesnt like bench is either very tall, not a good bencher

  • @TheCloverfieldchris Fair call, but i guess poundstones results speak for themselves. I just know some amateur strongmen that dusted me in the strongman comp I did(it was just a novice one, with quite light weights comparitvely) But i could bench more than them. Guess, I was envious ;) haha. Cheers mate

  • @TheCloverfieldchris i disagree man no offense but these guys obviously know more then u about the sport and if they say chest is not as important then there probably right tho i did hear that derek started working at his bench to try and get it up to 600 but he still has to worry more about stuff like legs and back

  • LOL What a freaking beast

  • Nice to see a big dude benching a lot of weight and not bouncing it off his sternum. Sure a lot of hard work preceeded this feat. Great display of strength.

  • I bet half the people here that are hating cant lift half this weight.. Good lift man.

  • Go watch James Henderson and Allen Baria...They could get your 500 reps up to atleast 10

  • Jimbo slice can lift more then that...

  • this guy is a beast

  • @kaktustaggig The problem with your comment starts around "Compared to powerlifters and strongmen" You really can't compare them. They train for different purposes. In my opinion, saying something like "my bench max is 750" is a lot better then saying "I can do 400 for 10 reps" but thats just me. And I would prefer the physique of poundstone over say.. Jay Cutler anyday. Also just my opinion..

  • @DKDIESEL93 i agree, dont get me wrong i think jay cutler has a great physique but derek looks powerful as hell and can still move pretty fast when he has to, whereas someone with cutlers physique will have trouble wiping there ass because alot of it isnt functional muscle

  • @DKDIESEL93 Jay Cutler?! Haha you mean Mr. Interception!

  • I wouldn't call it 'for reps' he did 3..Still impressive

  • Tank.

  • I wonder what his max bench press is (1 rep).

  • instant beast mode

  • nice

  • 450.....

  • And here I am trying to break 300! WOW!

  • @mdiaz14160 thats still a good weight but derek is one of the strongest if not THE strongest in the world

  • MONSTER

  • That dude is a beast

  • I could only dream about benching this much weight and big props to Derek for 2 solid reps. But check out Allen Baria's video. He makes 500 look easy.

  • 495 for almost 3? As Arnold Schwarzenegger would say, "It's FANTASTIC!!!"

  • @MrDeppness

Its actually 500 look there are 2.5s on each side but yes it is FANTASTIC!

  • nice form

  • I can bench 500lbs too.... 100lbs for 5 reps

  • @92tillinfinity he's right....the math adds up

  • @92tillinfinity benching 500 or 1500 dont mean shit buddy its all bout pound for pound n being agile. wake up call u not gonna whoop ass just someone is buff or and cuz u bench alot of weight. not saying u wanna whoop ass but a pound for pound guy is basically stronger than the guy who benches 1500pds :)

  • @dontbesoft First of all, I was joking with my comment. Second of all, what the fuck did you just say? You clearly have no understanding of weightlifting, or the English language for that matter.

  • @92tillinfinity I wasnt even talking to u chump! U obviously got no knowledge of "lifting" period. And this is not an english composition class for me to check my grammar. :)

  • @92tillinfinity LOL! Yea but lifting 500 all at once takes some serious Muscle.

  • @92tillinfinity do you have any fucking idea how heavy 500 lbs is? STFU I bench 100000 houses with my sledgehammer and not to mention on occasion with my dick!

  • @92tillinfinity He did 1500 then if your counting like that, 3x500 :)

  • @vr6sy heheh we have same idea man , i did not see your comment before my post :D

  • @92tillinfinity then he lifted 1500lbs on your idea..... 500lbs for 3 reps

  • @92tillinfinity lmao XD

  • fucking jacked:) not gonna lie the false grip scared me i thought i accidentally clicked a accident vid

  • Look at hiz fuckn face....swoll azz freak....he can knock out a damn elephant benchin dat much....

  • great LIFT! strong. KEEP ON PUSHING THAT WEIGHT BRO!

  • I can't even deadlift this ;_;

  • @ihatevoyager [2] :/

  • wit a suicide grip????

  • Awesome Work Period! Great job DP!

  • really really good reps

  • good clean reps

  • @dondee500k True dat, but you stil have to work your ass off for alot of time to achieve such a shape. It's what people don't realise.

  • @JpRules123 Don't get me wrong, I know these guys basically have to give up what other people call a normal life and spend almost every waking hour lifting weights. And to them, this is a "normal" life.

  • BEAST!!!!!!

  • Sign on the door: "Gym's closed. Poundstone is here... he needs all the weight."

  • @aikenforjeff your comment made my fucking day!

  • @aikenforjeff LMAO

  • lmao, ive been stuck on 220lbs for a long time now. This guy makes me feel weak as shit!

  • @101BananaSplit

i tried doing narrower gripped incline presses, that built up strength in my upper pecs and shoulders and got me past my upper limits, just food for thought

  • @0bigtony0 dude dont even bother replying :P

    he's just a troll

and i saw ur vids ur as strong as hercules! LOL

and if u lost like 40 pounds ud b commplete muscle

    lol

  • It's amazing what stroids can do, huh?

  • @Dillet1421 Fucking retard shut the fuck up with your stupid comments about steroids. Let me correct you : ''It's amazing what years of training can do''. Steroids are not some fucking magical formula to grow muscle like fuck in a couple months. But you would know that if you were not living in your mother's basement playing World of Warcraft all day, This guy has probly been working out for more than your fucking age kid.

  • this guy is a genetic freak.
