  • this is dreadful in todays standards but back then it was amazing

  • THIS IS WAAAY BETTER AND ENTERTAINING THAN UFC I LAUGHED MY ASS OFF

  • Those stunt people are so obvious and that wig has got to be the fakest thing I´ve seen. Didn´t they have money for proper hair and make up

  • alexis techinally threw the first hit ,krystle kept jus finishing it lolol

  • Καλέ αυτές πλακώνονται στ' αλήθεια!

  • @iskin2007 s'estile i menegaki ed? :P

  • Beat that bitch up! Claw her eyes out! THEN FUCK UP THAT UGLY PAINTING

  • Watchinf re-runs of Dynasty now in the UK. Love this show!!

  • yes bitches

when i was kid i use to be glue to the tv w"dynasty"

  • The music playing is amazing... lol

  • Kyrstle's face after Alexis slaps her "oh.... it's on"

  • I love how this is only the FIRST catfight. How many shows get to have more than one?

  • The thing about throwing a vase....it will knock the other person out if it connects but the water will revive them immediately afterwards...so the vase and the water counteract each other RRRRRR

  • Can i jump in ?

  • If this were reality, Krystal would most definitely not win.

  • I remember years ago watching a interview with Joan Collins, she stated that she never did the fight scenes herself, but had an extra do it.

  • @Milton754 : I used to have this on DVD. We had a high def TV, and when you watch this on it, you can definitely see that it's a stunt double. She even wears different shoes. Alexis (Joan Collins) is wearing nude colored heels. Her stunt double is wearing nude flats.

  • @Milton754 Its so obvious

  • They tore up that house!!!

  • LMAO!!!

  • Hahaha Alexis got her ass beat! ^^

  • I remember watching this fight when I was a kid and being shocked by 2 women fighting like this. Now that I'm watching it again as an adult, it's freakin' hilarious! Not one punch was thrown and the wigs on the stunt people were horrible. ....But this show rocked!

  • i love all the girl fights from Dynasty

  • Best Catfight of the entire show! Its right up there with the Wonder Woman/Stella Stevens fight!

  • @FireFighter6568 RT XD

  • best of all their fights!

  • I've always been fascinated by the fact this studio set had so many items removed, flipped, changed and some reappear! One big change was the lamp on Alexis's desk vanished. Instead replaced by books stacked the tall way to compensate for the missing lamp. When Krystle jumps off the couch after Alexis, the gun disappears. The smashed lamp is changed beforehand, Alexis suddenly has a basket where a large lacquerfloor box was..there are so many small gaffs.

  • @homeric9, Have you watched "Linda Evans and Joan Collins on LKL (Larry King Live)"? It's on YouTube. Evans said she loved doing her own stunts and Joan believed to, "Never put a stunt girl out of work". Collins said it in the 2006 "Catfights and Caviar Special" also.

You had said the only thing Collins did not do during the lilypond fight was the fall into the water. Collins said on the "LKL" interview that MOST of it was her stunt girl.

I have two books to recommend to you later. :)

  • @EyeLuvTDL I did say that, Joan also said Linda actually hit her and she woke up in a hospital in an interview with her daughter in law's jewelry line. Joan has a habit a creating the truth to when she feels it suits her. As I was told both women had stunt doubles on the set and both doubles did certain sequences. However, given how the scene was shot using doubles in the final edit was probably not a good idea.

  • @homeric9, In "Glamour, Greed & Glory", Collins is quoted as Evans really punching her in the lilypond on the first take. Why didn't they use THAT footage of Collins really getting hit, rather than the obvious fake punch Krystle threw where her fist never landed on Alexis' face?

Also, "Dynasty: The Unauthorized Biography of The Carringtons" by Creators Richard and Esther Shapiro is an excellent fan collectible- with fun photos of the art studio and lilypond fights.

  • @homeric9, I stumbled on a Facebook site dedicated to "Dynasty", and it contained a few stills of what we DON'T see in the final fight scenes.

One still was of the actual Evans rushing toward the actual Collins and grabbing her arm after she'd been slapped. In the final fight scenes, the doubles are used (0:49 thru 0:52).

  • @EyeLuvTDL Again, this is what I've been saying. When this first aired Entertainemt Tonight did a piece on the filming of this scene with Maria Shriver hosting and provides some detail into how this was filmed. The director had L&J film tearing the pillows open but for a short time only. The set was obviously reset and the doubles took over. 49-52 secs are indeed doubles, Linda joins in for the sleeve tear, but the roll across the floor to Alexis being kicked down the stairs are all doubles.

  • @homeric9, The two book titles I recommend for you (I couldn't remember them yesterday):

    - "Recipes for Life: My Memories" New book book by Linda Evans. It has two pictures of their Krystle-Alexis fights, one of the art studio fight and the other of the lilypond.

    - "Glamour,Greed & Glory- Dynasty" by Judith A. Moose and Paul D. Keylock. A fun book full of cast photos, ad promos, and episode guides of every episode, including The Colbys. Has four small pics of the lilypond action only. :(

  • @homeric9, Didn't you say the rifle vanishes and reappears? At what point is that? 2:42 and on doesn't count because the overhead shot doesn't pan down far enough to show the rifle lying on the couch where Krystle had left it.

Wouldn't it have been hilarious if Blake walked in when Krystle shoved Alexis over the couch (1:29) LOL!!!

  • @homeric9, I think I found it. At 1:56 thru 1:59, the long barrel of the rifle is not protruding from the arm rest of the sofa, indicating the rifle is gone!!

I agree with you, more damage is done to the studio than the fight really caused. In a later episode, Alexis tells a man visiting her in the art studio that Krystle went in there and purposely wrecked and destroyed the interior of the art studio for no reason at all!! Alexis was trying to make Krystle look psycho.

  • @homeric9, Correction: "Dynasty: The AUTHORIZED Biography of the Carringtons", not "unauthorized". I goofed. Anyway, great fan collectible.

  • P.S.: the reason The DVDs are from CBS video is that even though DYNASTY was first shown on ABC, after the Season 1 DVD came out from Fox, the rights then reverted to Paramount.

Paramount and CBS merged some time ago. So now CBS has put out the DVDs since Season 2.

That's also undoubtedly why CBS ran the 2006 Reuinion show, especially after ABC refused it (their 2005 "Making of a Guilty Pleasure" TV movie had bombed, so ABC turned up its nose at the Reunion the next year).

  • @scorpio888 Viacom merged sections of CBS/Paramount together not the entire company one for one. It was CBS parent Viacom's earlier 80% purchase of Spelling Television that eventually brought Dynasty to CBS.

  • @scorpio888, I'm gonna share with you that I shared with "homeric9". The tv game show,"Jeopardy!", aired on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 featured "Dynasty" as one of the catagories. I was very, very upset that I missed it!! If you can locate where I can view that entire episode, I would love to know.

(Note: The catagory title of "Dynasty" may or may not be of the nighttime show. The theme was 1980's shows. If it is questions of the show, you, homeric9, and myself would clear the catagory FAST!!

  • @EveLuvTDL I didn't close my account, though thank you for checking, I just made it "private" which the site now lets us sexy people do.

Re: the stills of Joan and Linda. Even if you're right, they are very good stills, and all Joan had to do was drop the vase and we'd have had the close-up we needed!

  • @scorpio888, You said,"Even if you're right, they are very good stills, and all Joan had to do was drop the vase and we'd have had the close-up we needed!"

    - True, however, I'm sure producers did not want neither actress to get hurt. In the final footage, it's obvious stunt doubles were used. It probably would have appeared smoother if they used the doubles for the "away shot", and used Evans and Collins for the "close up".

I have two book titles to recommend for you! I'll tell you later!!

  • oh alexis'...that damn "viper" roflll

  • sorry homerice9, when they went up the stairs, you could tell it was joans stunt double, she is taller, but it was linda evans going up the stairs. linda loved doing stunts. why would she not go upstairs.

  • @freddie4416 I never said that wasn't Joan's stunt double..both people you see are the stunt doubles not the actors in that sequence. I suspect Linda did not do it because Joan's double had to position herslef as she ran up the stairs to position herself to be pushed into the wall. The chase up the stairs and the struggle on the couch, both stunt doubles. Yet the fight arm in arm featured both L/J, Linda because that wig her double had just would not cut it on film w/a closeup shot.

  • sketchadams, you must be very young. dynasty was the hottest show in the 80's.

  • scorpio, they had no choice to use joans double, because joan would not do any stunts. she was to afraid to. linda evans did as many of her own stunts that the studio allowed. barbara stanwyck taught linda evans how to do her own stunts on the big valley.

  • @freddie4416, That "scorpio888" left us talking to ourselves! Oh, how embarrassing!! He or she closed their account.

"Dynasty" ran on ABC from 1981-1989. It got repeated several times on Fox, FX, and SoapNet. What I don't understand is, if it originally ran on ABC, why is it available on CBS Home Video DVD (which is the home network of its rival, "Dallas")??

  • It was the first and last catfight on "Dynasty" which arose naturally out of the drama --- but even this was badly edited.... Footage exists of Linda and Joan on the floor with Joan trying to smash the glass vase over Linda's head --- and yet they used the master shot with the obvious doubles!

I mean, they don't even cut away from doubles for a moment to see Linda and Joan on the floor in close-up, even thought they filmed it !!! Huh ???

  • @scorpio888, I know what you mean, however, there's a difference between production still photos and actual video footage.

In stills, Joan and Linda would pretend to be in the moment of a scene but couldn't fake an actual video footage, otherwise, Joan could get hurt.

I know exactly what picture you're talking about with Linda wide-mouth lying next to Joan about to smash a vase of flowers over her head. That was a production still photo for promotion and other uses.

  • @EyeLuvTDL Getty Images has one shot of both Joan and Linda on their knees swinging pillows at each other. I doubt highly this is a still image form any sequence. Rather, a rehearsed sequence in the fight that camras took multiple images of.

  • @homeric9, You said,"I doubt highly this is image from any sequence. Rather, a rehearsed sequence in the fight that cameras took multiple images of."

    - You proved my point. Whether it be rehearsal photos or promotional, we can tell that is not Evans and Collins during the actual fight scene by Alexis' bed where the feathers go everywhere. Krystle's wig is too stiff and Alexis is hiding her face. Why? Because they're the doubles.

  • @EyeLuvTDL That is what I've said the whole time! Linda was used in some of the action scenes but not all in the final edit. She and Joan struggled arm in arm but when they were struggling on the couch it was both their doubles. When Alexis runs up the stairs and pushes the basket, what we see are doubles NOT the actresses.

  • @homeric9, Also, I hated that I missed "Jeopardy!" aired on Tuesday, November 1, 2011. In a morning preview, one of the catagories was "Dynasty". I meant to watch it, but completely forgot!! You and I would have devoured that catagory!! LOL!!

Unless, the title had nothing to do with the 80's hit nighttime show. ??? However, the theme was 1980's shows. I've been trying to track down that "Jeopardy!" episode!!! Please let me know if you find it!!

  • If you wanna rematch, just whistle!

  • Is it me or is Krystle always beating Alexis?

  • do you see these stunt doubles!? it cuts from Joan Collins and Linda Evans to Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari in Bossom Buddies. Love it.

  • Did Alexis really think she cud slap the dog-shyt outta someone and just walk away!? lol

  • joan is exceptionally beautiful, its beyond belief.

  • What the hell is this show??

  • @sketchadams ~ Do you live under a rock?

  • They Sure Knew How To Write Female Characters Back Then

  • OK THAT DAMN FLOWER FACE WAS HILARIOUS !

  • the flower vase was the KEY !

  • I CANNOT STOP LAUGHING OMG !!!

  • "Bitch"

    "Slut!"

    "You bitch!"

    "Slut!"

  • linda was great doing probably all her stunt work that she learned from the great barbara stanwyck. you can tell most of joan is her stunt double sandy. her stunt double almost always hides her face so you can't tell it isn't joan. the close ups are joan. take notice when joan gets kicked down the stairs, you can tell it's not her.

  • I love how Alexis walks away after slapping Krystle and we can hear her footsteps walking off. It's funny how Alexis thought the matter was settled and over until Krystle grabbed her, and it was on!

  • @EyeLuvTDL "so...if you've QUITE finished" !!

  • @labz77, "I HAVEN'T!!!" (grabs and yanks your arm)

  • Great resolution on this clip..I love the vivid color and the details that show up. This fight was carefully choregraphed and one can see how items on the set were shifted, replaced, changed and eliminated.

  • You can tell that a stand-in for Joan does a lot of this sequence (has back of head to camera)

  • @wilburbonzo ye i can imagine joan collins reading the script saying...absolutley not I am not doing it my self..

  • joan's body double was a dude ! how sad...

  • Thanks It is funny watching them fight. It is actually awful seeing two woman fight. LOL.

It was funny see Alexis get her butt kicked. LOL..

  • Wow, cool! I did have to wonder at times if they used body doubles for the fight. Used to watch this when i was young.

  • @cheech37 Joan did, but not Linda. You can tell its her throughout the whole fight, but you can see the stuntwoman's face in the wideshots.

  • @Kelaiah01 Linda's double did a large portion of this scene. When Krystle slams Alexis into the wardrobe, throws her on the bed...that is Linda's double. The roll on the floor, when Alexis throws her back on the couch, and the chase up the stairs at the end..all a stunt woman.

  • @homeric9 It was Joan's double, not Linda's, because otherwise "Alexis" would be the same height and build as Linda. XD Although Joan's double does look a little taller and much fitter than Joan does. XD

  • @Kelaiah01 I'm not sure I follow what you are saying but my comment was directed at what you said which was Linda did not use a stunt double during this fight, she did. Linda did the entire lillypond sequence and Joan did everything but the actual fall in the lillypond. During the Moldavia massacres scene, Joan used a double as well for the push down to the floor. During the mud slide each actress used a double for the fall down the hill. Joan's double was indeed taller and fitter.

  • @homeric9 But if you watch carefully in this fight, its Linda the whole way through. The only stunt double was the one used for Joan. But I did know about those other things as well (I even saw a photo of Joan and Linda standing with each of their body doubles during the mudslide take, it was funny).

  • @Kelaiah01 I assure you Linda did NOT do the entire scene herself. The catfight starts with BOTH their doubles actually as well as the vase smashing, couch fight and chase up the stairs. SOME sequences were shot with the original actresses and some with their doubles and the best footage used. A soundtrack was produced over the sequence to make it correspond to the action. The easiest way to tell is Linda's double's wig..Joan's was easier to create but Linda's hair was not.

  • @homeric9 *watches the catfight over* Huh, y'know, you may be right. I could tell not by the wig (I didn't really pay attention to that), but by the face. It looked like the same woman who doubled at Rita Lesly in the attic catfight. Well, at least Linda did more shots than Joan did. :)

  • @Kelaiah01 Entertainment Tonight did a clip on the studio catifight with the behind the scenes production. I wish I could find it, but in it is a clip of Linda behind the cameras cheering her stunt double on. The footage includes both stunt doubles practicing the rolling on the floor/vase smash. Linda and Joan posed for some "action" shots which are just that, posed. Each actos/stunt person had their own wardrobe, which explains the up/down visual of Alexis' torn sleeve.

  • @homeric9 Really? That's interesting. XD Haha, I love the idea of Linda cheering her stunt double on. :D But I'm glad Linda still did as many stunts as she could. :)

  • i'll bet my life the whole fight scene was linda evans. not joan. she's to chicken!!!1

  • @Kelaiah01 Interesting you say you can see Linda's double face. In the final edit the producers went to great pains to hide both the double's faces. In the Sammy Joe/Amanda pool fight the fight was shot both with doubles and the actual actors . The action was more intense with the stunt people but their faces could be seen and it was clear that would not work. Alas, the final edit used the acotr's rather weak fight scene.

  • @homeric9 Really? I saw a behind the scenes vid of the actual actors poolfighting, they did it all in one take and I thought it looked rather intense. Plus it showed them afterwards, laughing and hugging and swimming around, makes me even sadder that that was Catherine's last shot, her chemistry with Heather was dynamite, they would've been great rivals on the show. Do you know where I can find a vid of the stunt doubles, though? (Though I'm glad they used the actors, makes it more real)

  • @Kelaiah01 This fight, among others, on the show had more than one take and the best footage used. The pool fight was on Catherine's webpage for awhile, and given so much of their faces were seen using any other footage was deemed risky for the final edit. The studio fight is interesting as the producers for the scene ended up shifting and replacing so many items in the "studio" the entire sequence is filled with moved, missing and re-appearing items.
