  • could you please give me a little insight on mavilyn statham and where is she now.

  • @myneecee: Malvilyn Statham & her husband are both good friends of mine. They are doing very well and live here in the state of Maryland.

  • This is great. But I really like your version Rowoches. It was BOMB!

  • @ElderPinkerton: Awwwww thanks!! Lol!

  • Best EVER! I saw them almost every night for about 6 months at the Frontier Hotel Lounge in Las Vegas in 1962 and/or 1963. Al Williams was the organist with them. They were bigger than life and just totally on top of their music. Thank you for putting wonderful memories back in my mind.

  • hallelujah!

  • They tore this up in Church about 2 years ago!!!

  • Hey, sounds like New Orleans to me!

Yes, Praise him. Better be ready to go.

  • i got em but its to much to put in dis lil box

  • Where did the trumpet come from... sang it

  • The Dukes of Dixieland were featured on this particular album. Record companies were being experimental with Gospel music. Lol!

  • MYYYYYYYYYYYY Lord!! that's alright..

  • that is awesome the way she holds that note.

  • They put the stank on that song.I love the way she held the note and the verse about the sinner. I had never heard this version before awesome. love it love it love it

  • LOL @ they put the stank on it! LOL!

  • hole on, there's anotha version of dis song???

  • The earlier group of the Ward Singers recorded "Travelin Shoes" (1958) also. Marion Williams was the lead singer. Then, there's this version here from 1962...months the Wards did a live recording ('62) at the Village Gate in New York. There's also a version from 1973. So, the Ward Singers in general have recorded it a few times.

  • @Rowoches do you happen to know the lyrics to this song?

  • Betta fling that tambourine woman! Thats the Holy Ghost right there. Can only Jebus sing them kind of notes so long. GLORY GLORY.

  • Yes {shaking head with confidence} I liked that verse about the sinner. Death came by and just "pushed" him in...

  • My favorite later Ward Singer..Ms.Viola Crowley!

  • Yeah, she's one of mine also...as well as Mildred Means (as everybody knows...LOL) and Malvilyn Statham.

  • I always wanted to here the record

  • Mildred held that note and didn't even sound strained, she sounded smooth and easy like honey! Viola tore this one up! She wasn't playing!

  • Yeah, Mildred could hold them notes! LOL! When I told her how many of the YouTube viewers loved the way she sustained the notes, she laughed and said, "Yeah, I'd hold them from here to your house!"

  • Good post. them girls betta sing

  • Mildred put them other sopranos to shame.....she was the baddest soprano out there! Lmao, I'm ashamed to say it, but I tried to hold them notes with her while watching this video......I failed!

  • I did too! LOL! I have a CD of Marion Williams playing the paino and singing this with Packin' Up and she was SICK SICK SICK!! Musta had big lungs! LOL!

  • It sounds like they in the big easy..... I enjoyed this I love the old school anyway. Lol
