It's more because of the fact that he uses a bass pickup. it's kinda just taped on there between his humbuckers.

@Milesback1 If you listen closely at @1:19, you can hear a "high E" like you say. I beg that on this guitar he just emulates the bass sound with a pedal to a separate bass amp. On his new guitar (his black Strat), he's got a bass pickup.
