Reel Big Fish maybe joking, but it's true too many bands come out, but few good ones make it. Eventually bands are asked or made to sell out. it's too sad. That's I rather listen to those who are true to themselves.
People shouldn't argue over which band is better. Do you think Streetlight and RBF fight over whose better? They're both great in their own ways. One band isn't better than the other. Give it a rest.
i like streetlight better because they dont care if their big like RBF their just down to earth guys playin music and somebody said they dont interact with the crowd? listen to them play heres to life live. it all depends on wht u like but i prefer streetlight
Hey lets all stop arguing and agree that they are both fuckin great in their own way, trust me, Ill bet you anything that neither of them are trying or want to be like the other
Streetlight are more musically talented? Yeh, SO many times I have heard Streetlight go into a country song or a blues song, or rap, metal, emo, punk rock etc...No, wait, that was Reel Big Fish! Streetlight are good, they just got so boring after a while!!
i disagree, everyone in Streetlight (except Tomas) has a degree in jazz, classical, or latin music. and i don't think ive ever heard RBF do anything you listed. not to mention all their songs are in the same key and the vocals are super generic.
SkaTasticMatt is actually right about them playing the different styles of music. If you want a good example try and find RBF's live album called our live album is better then your live album. The last song on the 1st disc is called S.R the many versions of where they play the same song but in a different style each time. To copy you not trying to be a dick just saying
i'll check that out because i do love RBF i just think their topics are trivial, and everything sounds a lot like everything else, but they are still great!
@AlexPlaysGames it has nothing to do with them being better people it has to do with their musical ability and the music that they make?
streetlight is a lot deeper with better song writing ability and musical talent, reel big fish is funnier and more goofy. streetlight is personal and political, reel big fish wants to get fucked up and have fun. you can't argue which is a better written song between "watch it crash" and "beer" but personal prefrence is different.
@AlexPlaysGames both bands are good there is nothing apples and oranges about it you proclaimed something stupid about being a better person which was completely unrelated. i really don't know what you want, streetlight is musically driven rbf is more comedicly driven thats pretty much all there is to it. at this point you aren't really arguing anything i said 6 months ago i like both bands and you're agreeing with me now but you continue to throw insults around like a child
@AlexPlaysGames i no longer have faith in your judgement, if you'd like to hear me say it again i like both bands. i strongly prefer one over the other. the fact of the matter is one band has more well trained musicians. even if i did like RBF more streetlight still has more trained talent. it has nothing to do with appreciation it has everything to do with fact. i like their songs more, they are more punk-ish than rbf writing & meaning wise which i prefer to rbf's classic 3rd wave ska sound
@nateskateboards Again, you imply that being a "trained" musician instantly makes the music better.
Whatever floats your boat, I suppose. At best, I know that not everyone is an elitist fagtard like you. Blocking you now because you're interrupting my film. Have fun assuming trained talent is superior, dickface!
@AlexPlaysGames i think your childish insults are funny. i also think the music by both artists speaks for its self. and i listen to punk so 99.99999% of the music i like is untrained kids shouting about how much they hate everything over power chords. what film are you watching?
I love both extremely. I'm going to see them both on Jan 2nd. But yeah, this really disappoints me. They're usually way more energetic than this, but this is just boring. Prolly cuz they're getting old. Hopefully they're not like this when i see them.
Yet they are so much more musically talented, it doesn't matter. RBF does comedy, Streetlight kicks serious ass. They're both good, but Streetlight is definitely better. Plus all the comedy routines are always exactly the same.

Did i say they should write a song about drugs or suicide? Writing music that tells people not to write or play music is completely fuckin hypocritical. You dont have to be very bright to realize that.
Did it ever occur to you that they wrote this song as a joke? Have you ever noticed how RBF is a funny band? That most of their songs are jokes? This song is hilarious, and if you couldn't figure that out on your own, you don't really deserve to be able to appreciate good music anyway.

i dont listen to real big fish because their songs are fucking useless. i listen to real fucking ska like operation ivy, the specials, the skoitads. They write songs about shit that matters to me, shit thats real. Reel big fish are a bunch of washed up faggot pop punkers. bunch of fuckers.
This song isn't telling people not to start a band at all. It's about the kids that start a band because they think it's the cool thing to do. Not because they love music and wanna play.
I've seen plenty of people start bands cuz they wanted to be cool. It really pisses me off.
@NJdunkLover It wasn't a joke. Aaron was depressed when he wrote the song, and the whole album. Their success from Cheer Up! and the product placement that came in the wake was waning, and he was starting to hate himself, his band, and his music.
So he wrote an album about it. Your Guts (I Hate 'Em) barely even qualifies as a funny song in context of the album.
@ShadowEl Even if it wasn't written as a joke, ever think maybe the reason they play it now is as a joke? Obviously, they;re a band, a pretty successful one. So I highly doubt they truly live by this song.
@Piccleman But he says they WROTE it as a joke, and it was written to be incredibly serious. Whether or not they're serious or not when performing it now is irrelevant.
i hope your happy scotty
