  • I would see that movie! Man, I wish I was British

  • Yes very very good, and at last someone who uses the original soundtrack without trying to immitate dalek voices

  • how did you amke animation?

  • this looks so awesome

  • hey thats really good!

  • fantastic love it

  • Can somewone please explain wat the fuck a daleks is??!!

What do they do and why are they "scary" or wathever?

  • @daanmagier well, there on doctor who

  • @daanmagier It is an ancient British sci-fi alien monster race thing dearie .

A product of very old and low budget T V , the stories were always filmed in a studio , with painful occasional excursions to an old gravel and sand pit .

It appeals to the British sense of humour because 1 ) - obviously these things cannot climb stairs 2 ) making them do " Gay " arguments in those machine voices is hilarious 3 ) they are short sighted and try to have sex with metal rubbish bins .

    O K ?

  • Whats the music from 0:55 onward?

  • This is brilliant!!! Oh, please....can you not do the whole storyline, bit-by-bit...I mean, the original POTD was good, but this is BETTER...

  • You should so bring in the other actors but really put like special 21st century effects around them to make it seem more.

  • BRILLIANT!!

  • all daleks report to central control immediately!!!!

  • OMG! Dude this is so good that it is my favourite trailer on youtube!! :)

  • THIS SIMPLY MUST BE DONE!!!!! :-D :-D :-D I'm going to write a letter to the BBC :-)

  • okl is rael film???

  • looks awesome, but at 1:07 i think you should of made it that the door is cut open by an assult dalek.

  • Cool!

  • That was brilliant!!

  • awsome

  • Excellent as always.

Though surely the inactive Daleks eyestalks should be pointing to the ground?

  • Frontier in Space/Planet of the Daleks remains one of my favourite linked stories of Dr Who.

I always thought - what if the Daleks went back to revive their frozen army?

  • Coool, invisible Daleks!

  • hey just a quick question, if you still hav the original rendering, could you do the video at two different angles and make a 3d youtube or anaglyph video and post it?

  • if they redid Planet of the Daleks the Daleks should not be Gold but the Gray and Black colour they were in the original. Plus I rather have the Dalek army get out and fight. Not be trapped like in the old episodes

  • this is amazing

    what is the music from?

  • @JoelimusPrime Mostly from The Satan Pit. One of Murray Gold's best scores, I think. Very cinematic, very stirring, very eerie.

  • @themindrobber Yes. Great music! I'd quite forgotten which episode it was. I just wish the BBC would fund someone like you to reproduce all the lost episodes. Great job.

  • Wow! This was so cool!

  • You should send this in to the BBC writers room, and Steven Moffat could use this as way of bringing back the proper-looking Daleks and a new Dalek civil war story line.

  • this would be fukin mint

  • Very nice. You've done an excellent job on this

  • To tell you the truth, I don't think I'd like the movie, but the trailer is bloody well-done.

  • Very well done there.

  • Space garbage?!

  • Can't add more than what has already been said. But without showing appreciation, I'd feel horrible... This blew me away, the invisible Dalek and the Barry Letts tribute, not to mention the lil prelude intro at the start. Absolutely incredible.

Would LOVE to see more like this.

  • It's very good...do you plan a follow-up? I didn't particularly take to the design of the Dalek Supreme, I found it a bit over-fussy, but I certainly thought the invisible Dalek special effect quite amazing...

  • This is really really cool. If you could render a decent Jon Pertwee et al, could you make the whole thing? That would be amazing, though I admit it would probably take many many man-years. :D

It looks incredibly well renderd; really highly detailed models.

If I have... not a criticism, more just an observation, it looks like professional work before they render the... the shininess that makes it look more real. Does that make sense? Its still very good, don't get me wrong.

  • incredably amazing

    I am subscribing now

  • So impossibly brilliant.

Maybe you can convince the BBC to make an adaptation, but only if it is as good as this trailer,

In fact, bugger that, can't you do it? It is so brilliant on so many levels and just aching to be done.

  • I would like too do something like that, an adaption of a old story, which has good potential.

  • Brilliant. I likey. This would be god as a movie. Nice job !

  • Oh, that is a work of art - fabulous! And a lovely tribute at the end too.

  • just stick all of the parts together, add some CGI and you'll be all set

  • stunning!

  • The font is wonderful. What's it called, and how did you create the translucancy fx?

  • Cool! can you do stuff like this for other Classic episodes like "Evil of the Daleks","The Dalek Invasion of Earth","Day of the Daleks" etc

  • This was amazing, will there ever be more ?

  • i like it how you chose impossible planet music :)

  • MOAR MOAR!!! XD

  • What tools did you use to create this?

  • It's mainly modelled in Cinema 4D, with a few bits done in MAX. Edited in Premier with some audio work in Goldwave.

  • that's just beautiful!

  • Great job!

  • Excellent. I loved it, especially the invisible Dalek =)

  • Stirling work as always. I struggle to see the things you find wrong with your animation, so I guess your standards must be exceptionally high. Shame about Barry Letts, I shall miss his lisping commentaries on Dr Who dvds.

  • Bloody good!

  • Oh my giddy aunt!!! That's brilliant, gives it a lot more credibility!

  • Very nice work, sir! That transparent Dalek's a bit nice...

We must work together sometime. :)

  • Thanks! It was achieved by animating the refraction variable from zero to one and back. I had to tweak it in post a bit. We should work on something!

  • How long did that take to make?incredible piece of work!!

  • Very hard to estimate! I started it 8 months ago! When I really get into this stuff I do it every other evening for a week or two, then get bored and do something else for a while. I dunno. Too long is probably the answer...

  • lovely work there!!!

  • You are too sodding good, I'd love to watch this.

  • now thats something i would love to see, great work

  • Excellent work.

    Nice tribute to Barry Letts.

  • Fantastic work!!! Loved the Invisible Dalek at the start. Its goood thing you did this. Planet of the Daleks is posibly in my opinion one of the greatest Dalek storys ever!!!

You should have made the suprme dalek into that colour scheme used in the actual episode but kept the new series look. 5 stars

  • Excellent video and concept. Also a fitting tribute to Barry Letts. I salute you!

  • Hi

That was great, I do remember Planet of the Daleks in the 1970s, it was good to watch it here in Australia when I was young.

It would be nice if they made a remake of it with the new Dr who and the Daleks. Great work!!!!

    mike11
