Im building a drum set (maple shells) what to get them black and then put on a tung oil finish or a simi gloss finish. Will your ebonizing process work with maple and one of the above finishes?
Great video - just what I needed as I'm getting ready to ebonize a shelf. One question I had - are you just adding the whole bottle of india ink to the can of General Finish Black stain? (Coincidentally had both on hand before starting project.)
@JMUBrew usually just a good "slug', will do it, but just do a test and if it needs a little add it,, not an issue, just remember that india ink is real serious black, wear some gloves... trust me...
yes you can use a cloth , but wear gloves, that india ink is serious , once on any thing, it doesnt go away, its a true black , and like said it takes itself real serious
Thanks! We're working hard to keep them coming, had a lull in on-line videos while we tackled the Finishing series. Good to know that our friends at Woodcraft are supporting the DVDs and woodworking education.
