This kid is crazy. He studies with Yehuda Gilad at USC.
Plus, the last time I heard about Joe from a couple friends of mine, he's making it into final rounds of professional orchestra auditions. Wouldn't be surprised if he already won a position.
3:04 is true, those adagios are more hard to play that a normal rondo presto or any other faster indication =) but youre such a good musician and was just a mistake
you're very talented. a bit too fast, but hey, it seems like in competitions (granting u played that fast there, too) judges look for speed first (see if u can pull off all the notes), then other factors. But anyway, your phrasing & dynamics were also great, so, congrats !!!
I'm planning on auditioning to play this in my youth orchestra's concerto competition this year. You are fantastic! You set a high standard for me to work towards. :)
Wow, that's amazing! I looked this up becuase I'm playing this solo for a competition but you have it, like, 80 times faster than me. Slightly discouraging, but great job!
woow! It's wonderful! I would give all that I can play also so good! I can only play the Adagio KV 622 from the clarinet concert in A major..written from Mozart..
good job. i played debussy rhapsody with sj youth symphony in high school as well. played pricipal in sj symphony as well for a while subbing for mark brandenburg and after he left. he did a good job with you. check out my solo de concours vidio on u tube.
wow, great job! I've been playign this piece for the past few years, on and off, and I played it with the National Symphony in London when I was 12...but never as good as this! I play is quite a bit slower. this is nuts!
Are you in music performance? I was a music major at one point and I played clarinet...you are amazing! You're 10x the player I ever was... Keep it up! Who's your favorite composer?
you absolutely blew my effin mind! exactly how "young" are you? i'd say.. 20? but that's not that young, huh. but holy crap.. seriously.. you are amazing. and super talented. I'm sooo jealous. will you audition for college for me? haha just kidding.. but seriously. i envy you so much. but seriously. your technique is flawless! how long have you been learning??
Ur such an awesome performance...i really still remember the gape of my jaw when i heard u the first time during rehearsal...i was like...who the hell just played like that...and i was like holy crap! Coming back to help camp nxt year?
I am doing a young artist competition with the chattanooga youth symphony this year and hope I do half as good as you! that song is soooo hard! GREAT job!!!
That was a brilliant performance! Your tone, articulation, and phrasing is incredible. I wouldn't be surprised if you attend a prestigious music conservatory at some point, if not now.

its probably meant to be fast like this...
studies have shown that classical music, and i use that term broadly, has slowed down remarkably in the past century
i think you played fantastic
you inspired me to get my clarinet out again :)

That was a FANTASTIC job!
On a personal note, I think the piece should be more connected, like a graceful waltz. I think you are putting too much seperation in it.
But everything else was spectaculer! Your playing is very clean.
StealthTalons 2 years ago
Ehhh leave the waltz to the 3rd movement of the Spohr 3rd concerto. This is definitely a dance in 2. how ever I think his goal is to be spontaneous.
overlord1294 2 years ago
well it IS von weber, the most aggressive composer for the clarinet, and this was considered his "less aggressive piece"

Do you play the first movement also?

was the squeek at the very end or somewhere else, cuz i heard a wobbly screechy note at the end but i guess that was dynamics?
but anyways, this song was completely totally beautiful. Well done, and good luck at college O.o

wow.
speechless.
usually i find myself handing out advice to alot of people who post music up and it all is usually so mediocre.
i can honestly say i enjoyed every second of this performance.
inspirational... at the least.
beautiful sound.
though i prefer a buffet clarinet.
if you haven't already heard of ted lane mouthpieces, you should really look into them.
they're hand-made and they give you a very rich, deep sound that i myself quite enjoy.
thank you for sharing your talent

Just had to say you're a really great clarinetist...lol. No one really cares for the squeak, cause we're too amazed by your talent. XD
I gave you five stars, esp. cause this was my favorite mv'mt out of all three.
