  • i love the brilliance. i know spencer, 'cause i played with him in chamber.

  • really impressive!

  • I WISH I could play like this

  • wow amazing!!!!! how old are you here???

  • BRAVO excellent and brilliant

  • prestige r13?

  • This kid is crazy. He studies with Yehuda Gilad at USC.

Plus, the last time I heard about Joe from a couple friends of mine, he's making it into final rounds of professional orchestra auditions. Wouldn't be surprised if he already won a position.

  • 3:04 is true, those adagios are more hard to play that a normal rondo presto or any other faster indication =) but youre such a good musician and was just a mistake

  • dude great tone

  • You know you're a great player when even your mistakes sound appropriate to the music.

  • WOW....

  • its probably meant to be fast like this...

studies have shown that classical music, and i use that term broadly, has slowed down remarkably in the past century

    i think you played fantastic

you inspired me to get my clarinet out again :)

  • this is nice!!!good

  • 3:06 uh oh but it's alright he kept his cool

  • You did fabulous! awesome job!

  • i could so NOT do that that piece i so NOT easy HAHHAHA XD beautiful song

  • you're very talented. a bit too fast, but hey, it seems like in competitions (granting u played that fast there, too) judges look for speed first (see if u can pull off all the notes), then other factors. But anyway, your phrasing & dynamics were also great, so, congrats !!!

  • Joe!!! you sound amazing! Dorky screen name :)

  • OMG..i play clarinet myself but i can't play like this even in my dreams..good job

  • I'm planning on auditioning to play this in my youth orchestra's concerto competition this year. You are fantastic! You set a high standard for me to work towards. :)

  • stunning skills but too fast and rush....

  • Wow, that's amazing! I looked this up becuase I'm playing this solo for a competition but you have it, like, 80 times faster than me. Slightly discouraging, but great job!

  • I play clarinet, and that's like impossible.

  • im playing this atm and this is AWESOME :) x

  • Honey, you rocked it! Don't mention the squeak. Sometimes they don't notice it if you don't bring attention to it.

  • amazing!!! i am a junior in college and cannot play it this well.....

  • WOW. I play clarinet and im in concert winds. This is my 3rd year playing. NICE

  • very good

  • Excellent technical performance! But maybe played a little too fast? I miss some soul in it.

  • Very good :)

    A bit fast, but hey...

  • great job but need to watch tempo closely

  • Bravo!!

  • dude is beast!!!!

  • WOW!!! that high note a 2:14 was amazing! And your tounging is flawless! Thats my only problem right now is tounging and those really high notes

  • woow! It's wonderful! I would give all that I can play also so good! I can only play the Adagio KV 622 from the clarinet concert in A major..written from Mozart..

  • only ?!?!

  • one of the best i´ve heard

  • Amazing! Ive been playing for 8 yrs and couldnt do that. wat type of clarinet do you use?

  • Sei un grande. Apparte qualche piccolo errore. Sei bravissimo. Good.

  • really good ! Hope to be some day as good as you !

  • this excellent!

  • And so you SHOULD have won the young artist competition with talent like that! Bravo and well done Virtuosity at its best.

  • You have a such a talent and good enthusiasm on the Clarinet :).

  • I haven't even heard all of it yet but it's a top class performance that's very enjoyable :)

  • STUD

  • That was a FANTASTIC job!

On a personal note, I think the piece should be more connected, like a graceful waltz. I think you are putting too much seperation in it.

But everything else was spectaculer! Your playing is very clean.

  • Ehhh leave the waltz to the 3rd movement of the Spohr 3rd concerto. This is definitely a dance in 2. how ever I think his goal is to be spontaneous.

  • well it IS von weber, the most aggressive composer for the clarinet, and this was considered his "less aggressive piece"

  • Good job! :D

  • Very nice job. :)

  • wow.. is this like cut time?

  • this is amazing. i play clarinet too so i know how hard this piece is. you did a fantastic job!

  • The squeak is at 3:06.

  • you are so talented, and so fun to watch! 5:10 just about blows my ass off every time i hear it hahaha keep playing and you will go places!!

  • good job. i played debussy rhapsody with sj youth symphony in high school as well. played pricipal in sj symphony as well for a while subbing for mark brandenburg and after he left. he did a good job with you. check out my solo de concours vidio on u tube.

  • wow, great job! I've been playign this piece for the past few years, on and off, and I played it with the National Symphony in London when I was 12...but never as good as this! I play is quite a bit slower. this is nuts!

  • Good job! Would like to hear more.

Do you play the first movement also?

  • was the squeek at the very end or somewhere else, cuz i heard a wobbly screechy note at the end but i guess that was dynamics?

but anyways, this song was completely totally beautiful. Well done, and good luck at college O.o

    -A knownothing sax player...

  • Are you in music performance? I was a music major at one point and I played clarinet...you are amazing! You're 10x the player I ever was... Keep it up! Who's your favorite composer?

  • Hehe, we are clarinetists we're supposed to squeak. =D Very nice job. =)

  • so inspirational.

  • FANTASTIC! great work

  • Excellent performance!! Virtuoso!

    Which orchestra is this one?

  • The San Jose Youth Symphony Philharmonic orchestra.

  • great intonation, bright sound too. What ligature are you using?

  • oh my God!

you absolutely blew my effin mind! exactly how "young" are you? i'd say.. 20? but that's not that young, huh. but holy crap.. seriously.. you are amazing. and super talented. I'm sooo jealous. will you audition for college for me? haha just kidding.. but seriously. i envy you so much. but seriously. your technique is flawless! how long have you been learning??

  • Ur such an awesome performance...i really still remember the gape of my jaw when i heard u the first time during rehearsal...i was like...who the hell just played like that...and i was like holy crap! Coming back to help camp nxt year?

  • you sound fantastic! someone mentioned USC, are you studying there now, for Yehuda Gilad? Good luck and keep on posting!

  • I am doing a young artist competition with the chattanooga youth symphony this year and hope I do half as good as you! that song is soooo hard! GREAT job!!!

  • very brilliant!!

    is the orchestra all asian?

  • hey!!

Im JP McNamara. We met at all-state. Looks like you've already improved tremendously. Want to give me your secret?

Anyway, good luck at USC. Im going to U of A for music. Maybe we'll run into each other again

  • Congratulations on your performance. Nice dynamics and phrasing!

  • wow.

    speechless.

usually i find myself handing out advice to alot of people who post music up and it all is usually so mediocre.

i can honestly say i enjoyed every second of this performance.

    inspirational... at the least.

    beautiful sound.

though i prefer a buffet clarinet.

if you haven't already heard of ted lane mouthpieces, you should really look into them.

they're hand-made and they give you a very rich, deep sound that i myself quite enjoy.

thank you for sharing your talent

  • Wow! That was amazing! Keep up the great work!

  • OMG it's Joe...never saw this performance from the front considering I'm a second violin. O_o

Just had to say you're a really great clarinetist...lol. No one really cares for the squeak, cause we're too amazed by your talent. XD

I gave you five stars, esp. cause this was my favorite mv'mt out of all three.

SJYS will definitely miss you. ^^

    ~Audi @_@ (Probably don't know me tho.)

  • You play really well!

  • Thank you~!

By the way, how do you think about B45?

  • Beautiful sound~

    Thank you!

  • What clarinet do you use?

    Is that R13?

    What about your reeds?

  • Good job Joe and SJYS! I wish I could have been there.

  • excellent.

  • That was a brilliant performance! Your tone, articulation, and phrasing is incredible. I wouldn't be surprised if you attend a prestigious music conservatory at some point, if not now.

  • Beautiful performance Joe!

We cannot do without music; it is our nature. Thankfully, a new generation exists to spread the message and feelings we have when we hear music performed like this...Nancy
