That is what the guy gets for walkin in with his hands down.. thats how you get caught... and for all you who dont know.. he turned around and kneeled because he hurt the guy and in martial arts as respect you should not gloat and turn away.. He probably got a warning depending on the tournament..but maybe d'qd..If i was the ref.. i would have given him a warning for heavy contact to the body.. if that was the head.. almost immediate dq... you must have control..
One thing I don't like about point sparring is it does not train you to react on the street. It teaches you to pull punches and gives you limited targets. Not a big fan of that.
This looks more like a simple punch to the stomach, not a knock out. Maybe you could call it a TKO.
Point Sparring is a foundational base for many world champion athletes that have moved into other areas of competition.
The school I am associated with does both point sparring, continuous sparring, full contact kick boxing, Muay Thai and Gracie Jiu Jitsu.
Our athletes who first became proficient in point sparring went on to win multiple world titles as well as many international and north American ones, in all fields. It gave them skills that most athletes will never have...

That's not a knockout. That's a knockdown, he's still conscious. Really nice punch by the way.

Point spar sucks, I know, I did it for many years as a kid. We now do Muay Thai, I guess we finally grew up to Full Contact
