@tnawcwvictoria I would say it's a toss between Mary Cardorette and Barry Jenner... I think they were the most exuberant when leading a contestant to the $100,000...
Then again, I always wonder how Constance McCashin would have acted if she gave away the top prize? You can bet there would have been A LOT, and I mean A LOT of screaming, hugging, and jumping up and down!! :-D
@gameshowluvr86 Good point about Constance, but I wonder how Jo Anne Worley, Henry Polic II or even the late Nipsey Russell would've acted if they gave away $100,000?
I mean, when they gave away $25,000, Jo Anne screamed, Nipsey jumped up and ran like crazy and Henry also jumped out of his seat and was happy
@tnawcwvictoria mary cadorette is very beautiful and i've alway's loved her. i used to watch her all the time on these game shows glad i was a witness of all of that she was super at these shows, and i loved her t.v show, she was also miss conneticut 1975 her home town wow way to go mary!
I saw this certain win numerous times and, like many fans of Pyramid, was happy to see your mom win the $100,000. Congrats to her. She seemed quite happy. I don't know if she still remembers this event, but I'm sure it is one she'll never forget. Again, congrats to her; she was an excellent player.
@WavemasterAshi On Things That Are Precious, I'd have said "Kids". Wouldn't you, WavemasterAshi? You're absolutely right on what you said. Because I love children a lot.
@WavemasterAshi On Things That Are Precious, I'd have said "Kids". Wouldn't you, WavemasterAshi? You're absolutely right on what you said. Because I love children a lot.
I didn't recognize the celebrity. I'd heard the name Mary Cadorette. Did she do movies? TV? Broadway? Anyway, she's definitely a babe. That's one of the best celebrity reactions in Pyramid history; and the way she hugged and celebrated with the family, and then stepped aside. Class. I think I'm in love. Also, nobody did Pyramid like Dick Clark; letting the excitement of the moment speak for itself without blathering like an idiot. They don't make 'em like that anymore. Great clip.
Im an old school game show geek also! I love the trilon's salute whenever someone (on this version) climbs the pyramid! Dick Clark forever rules the Pyramid! No offense to Bill Cullen or John davidson, but Dick Clark fit this show perfectly!!
Even though I agree with you about Dick Clark's version of this show, I liked Donny Osmond's version as well. He was good as a host, though other people would say that he wasn't as good as Dick Clark was. Hey, at least Donny gave it his best shot. ;)
@PrfMoriarty ...what's funny is - Donny's a decent guy - he's just not a game-show host ... it takes a special person to be one - and Dick Clark towered above them all, (with maybe the exception of Bob Barker) ...and you know why? Because he genuinely cared - CARED - and took it so seriously. A lot of hosts - even the good ones - are like "awww too bad, see ya' later" when people lose. Dick was the opposite - almost like he was the contestant's family member himself. He made the show.
That almost always happened when someone won the $100,000 grand prize. Kind of the big Pyramid's (actually the stagehands in the back) way of saying "YOU DID IT! YOU DID IT! YOU DID IT!!!" :-)
In all of the time that I used to watch this show, I eventually imagined that the judge had a list of words ready to buzz. Somehow, I actually don't think "rare" was on the list for "precious."
Is she saying it? No, man. She's saying to Mary "I love you! I love you! I love you!!" She was showing her gratitude to her for helping her win all that money.
It could not have been. She started out the show with David Graf in the "returning champion's" chair, so she had to have prevailed on the Thursday show.
I totally agree. That's why I love Shelley Smith's first $100k win. She and Richard are totally stoked after what is arguably the most intense tie breaker in Pyramid history. Then she gets Richard the win with 3 seconds to go, and she is literally jumping up and down. Amazing. Totally awesome.

They stopped having the audience come on stage in the third season of Clark $100K. I don't think the audience came onstage on Davidson's version either.
This will always be my favorite $100,000 win. Mary gave excellent clues and their reactions to the big win were priceless. Plus the audience didn't mob the set. ;)
I don't know who gets more happier when giving away $100,000
Shelley Smith, Mary Cadorette, Audrey Landers or Teresa Ganzel?

I loved how Patty introduces her husband...
Patty (still THRILLED from the win...): This is Mark Geiger, my husband... My RICH husband!
LOL!! Go 'head Patty! After winning the $100,000, bragging rights are definitely in order! :-D

@PrfMoriarty AMEN
Mr. Clark is a much better host than Osmond and John Davidson for that matter
@ least Mr. Clark let's the contestants have their winning moments before he comes in
John on the other hand jumps in and Donny Osmond's Tournaments STUNK, but the 1st one was OK
Mr. Clark does his hosting style with class

No offense to Davidson, though. But both were better than Osmond. Davidson did a good-enough job with what he was handed.
TVLubber 2 years ago
I was a little worried that _rare_ paintings might be a little too descriptive and she'd get the buzzer for that. Fantastic climb right to the top.
