Dog food from stores is bad.! I feed my Dutch shepherd and my German shepherd with lamb and they love it!!! It's better to feed dogs with what they where made to eat:-)
I love german shepherds so much! I have a 1 year old shepherd at the moment named Ozzy, he's absolutly fantastic. I've had two shepherds before ozzy but he is my first male. He's very protective when he needs to be but is also very friendly. He's great with kids, other dogs and even cats! I have a 3 year old english cocker as well, they are best buds. I do adore all dogs, but german shepherds are definitely my favourite breed.
@crazybrother, that is totally subjective; some dude wrote a book saying that, and now everyone quotes it like the gospel. I own a GSD, and in my OPINION, they're the smartest dogs in the world, hands down.
@fireantone im Sorry to tell you this but they are not smarter than the GSD. The GSD is the 3 smartest dog in the world only behind the border collie and poodle.
I feed my 6 mo. old GSD Eukanuba..I could say that this dog food is really amazing..when I first had my GSD when it was 2 mos., he was so skinny, ugly and lethargic..the breeder told me to feed it Beef Pro Puppy Dog Food. I was thinking, if it was a good dog food then how come my pup looks weak and ugly so I switched to Eukanuba and after a month, you couldn't recognize him with the before and after pics..the coat was shiny and his body truly in good shape..Yes it is expensive but worth spending.
Yes, you won't regret owning a well trained German Shepherd. An intelligent, loyal dog. A German Shepherd doesn't need extensive training to want to tear the throat out of any threat to it's family pack. When a German Shepherd is on duty, even a Tiger would want to back off.
@waterbongcritic ahahahh thats so cool!!! now get get back at some bullies !!!! lol nah i dont want to get my dog put down :( but if they hit me my hand migh accidently slip.... wink wink
The best dog I've ever owned was a German Sheppard mutted with a quarter Rottweiler blood. Loyalty surpassed by no other animal or person I've ever known. R.I.P. Hans
Here's the bottom line on dog foods. Check the ingredients. Most of the popular brands, including Eukanuba, rely heavily upon grains, especially corn and corn meal because it's cheap to produce. Dogs don't digest grains well and they don't digest corn at all, so it's wasted bulk in their diet. There are a lot of fine brands out there that have little or no grain but you have to pay a little more for them. Research the subject on line. There are some good websites on the subject.
@JackKangaroo1 In addition to brands like Eukanuba, some dog food brands just spray what they have with fat to make dogs want it. I've even heard some nasty rumors about what the meat is that they actually put inside the food itself, whether it's Bessy, Black Beauty/Seabiscut, or Rover. Considering how in some of those rumors, the Rover in question was euthanized, and the food was poisoned.... Healthier for the dog I think, and they will live longer.
I've bee attacked by german shepherd. I was jogging when it ran to me from behind, now i have scars on my leg and arm. Im not blaming the dog, i could have had it put down if i've called the police. I just have no respect for people who dont know how to keep dogs on a leash. From then on im always scared of dogs
No matter what breed you want, do some research first, and ask yourself why you want that breed. Personally I love German Sheperds, they are by nature very loyal and smart. If this is your first time owning a dog, just keep in mind this is a big responsability no matter if its a Lab, Pug or Great Dane.^..^ also ck out some rescue sites. Best of luck!
Thank you :) I just know that some people say that labs or collies are "starter dogs," and I know that, for example, siberian huskies are independant and are reccomended for an EXPERIENCED owner. and trust me, i've been doing a lot of research on dogs, dont worry =]

I got my 1st german shepherd as a tribute to my late father as Ive always had great danes. But I agree..once you get a gsd..its hard to get anything else. I always say..when you get a gsd , youre not getting a dog , youre gettin a best friend. Eukanuba is a great food.

Personally I'm not sure about the whole, Eukanuba's the greatest, thing, honestly I believe there are other better brands, but I will agree that GSD's are the best dog around. And while I don't own one at the moment, I will in the future. We use pedigree for our current dog, but I'm considering when I get a GSD when I live on my own trying either a raw diet, or a Pedigree diet. I love Alsation's, they're so beautiful and graceful.
They don't call 'em German Shedders for nothing. They are, hands down, the most beautiful dog breed ... then again, I may be just a tad biased, owning four gorgeous boys myself.
what a load of crap. my GSD will eat just about anything, though i usually give her pedigree and an egg every few days to keep her coat soft and shiny. she's perfectly healthy and a beautiful dog. don't listen to this garbage video.
@trippyay so true, i feed my german shepard royal canin, and fish oil and glucosamine and sometimes fresh meat i always get compliments on how beautiful and healty she looks :-)
Pedigree is the way to go. My old German Shepherd loved Habenero Doritos, mints, spaghetti was his favorite, dark chocolate (the chocolate didn't affect him in any way, except that he begged like the homeless on Christmas for some) and pretty much anything edible. He lived to be 15 and pedigree was the dog food of choice.
Took my year old shepherd to visit the breeder 6 mnths ago. They asked what I was feeding him cause his coat was wiry & his ligaments were loose. When I told them Eukanuba you thought I had said chocolate - they were horrified. I switched to the food they advised. His ligaments tightened up, his fur is soft & he has darkened in colour. Don't trust the ads-go with what your breeder recommends for your breed or let your dog guide you. Pet shops & vets would get commission for recommending brands.
my gsd sophie is 5yrs old and she smells its quite strong i take her swimming i thought i was tht but its not her coat is in good helth as is sophie not sure wht to do we no it not her anal glands ?
look in to Solid Gold holistic dog food(Hund-n-Flocken). i been feeding it to my shepherds for many many years with absolutely zero issues, i switched from eukanuba and noticed a dramatic positive difference in the overall health and apperance not to mention the vet said my 11 year old gsd is in the best shape he has ever seen a dog of that age.
@dabomber34 well 13 year old boy, I enjoy your enthusiasm,...however they require a lot of work, training, and attention. Wait until you are at the right position in your life to own one, otherwise it is unfair to the dog.
have you ever tought, that maybe was the eukanuba meal the cancer's cause? i have read about barf diet, and i think it's cheaper, and healthier, i have 4 GS and i love them, if is not meat, i try to cook, "lawa" i'm from bolivia
I had to put my best friend down 2 years ago. I fed him Eukanuba religously. He was 10 years old but looked like 4. He got bladder cancer and urinated blood for a month...then I put him down. With my new puppy(see my vid) I didnt want to feed him Eukanuba because of the recall. In order to get me back as a customer they need to come down big time in price.
I just saw a miniature German Shepherd last week in St. Martin. It was truly adorable so I stopped and asked the French couple who owned it what kind of dog it was. I thought it looked like just like the large Germen Shepherd. They told me it was a miniature German Shepherd. I had never heard of one so now Im trying to doi some research about this breed. I didnt now know that these breed exists.
@TheCaneCorso there is no such thing. it was probably a smaller mutt that looked very similar to the german shepherd. my bfs cousin got a gsd mix and she really does look like a "miniature gsd" without the pointed ears. but, once you feel the fur, and view the temperament and body type, it is FAR from a gsd. however, there is the Dwarf German Shepherd Dog. but obviously, that is a result of dwarfism, not an actual breed.
@dehbee <---------- dude it was a full blooded GSD you wasnt there I was the dog leg got crew off by a pitbull attack GSD isnt a great guard dog because they cant handle being biten and chew up by another dog it not even have to be a pitbull either it could be so mutt off the street so you can keep your 100.00 dollar dog man
@TheCaneCorso YOU are the one that asked if there really was a "miniature gsd." on average, a gsd is 77-87lb, many grow up to 100lb+. that doesnt sound like a small dog to me. i dont know wtf your talking about. where did pitbull attacking gsd even come from? and honestly, if you only glorify dogs because its more vicious or better at fighting, maybe you shouldnt own ANY animal. try working on your english before acting like a total ass hole who doesnt even know what hes talking about.
@dehbee <---------- oh yeah thats rights I did ask but I have seen one that was 22" and ity was a full blooded male GSD and I already found out what I saw was true after I went back around my old way and ask the owner of the GSD he told me its a rare breed of shephard but it is out there
If You Own A German Shephered Feed It Royal Canine, They Have breed specific formula's that meet your dogs needs, they are also widely known as the best German Shephered food brand around...
no u didnt go wrong!! ro yal canine is a good food!! science diet is amazing!! as they say if u wanna get a good dog dont feed it junk! my dad is a vet n even he recomends science diet 2 his patients! but thr r many good food ard like sd, rc, euk n many more.... mayb ur dog stopped eatin it is bcoz he got bored... juz vary ur food 1ce in a while!! tc
my shepherd loves potato chips, and all my dogs eat garlic and grapes. But you do have to feed them a good food. I used Purina sensitive systems (salmon and rice) my dogs all are doing great on that. my german shepherd hasn't had any of the skin issues or itchyness since i switched to that.
grapes destroy the function of the dog bladder, grapes can actually cause bladder failure. Potato's are no good either they contain solanine, the difference is they get cooked. When they are cooked they usually lose the toxicity in the solanine. I wouldnt feed my hounds grapes or potato's, theres plenty of otherstuff out their to feed em.
i have 2 of those videos, but on that one, aside from being locked on the bitepad like a vice the whole time, but he rips it off at the end of the video! And he's 10 years old! Truly my favorite dog.
pfffft, this videos cheesy as fuck, plus only dogs i saw had a FUCKED up back end, thats caused by inbreeding. theres better german sheperd down my street.
My favorite dog breed! Weather you want a loyal friend who can be gentle with children, or a fierce home guardian, the GSD meets those qualities, and way more!
yeah about the kids is truth i always played alone at my house with no adult supervision but my german shephards where with me all the time and i really mean all the time, they where like my bodyguards :)
my cousin and i have grew up with big dogs (shepherds) all our lives, to me, i think they are one of the most amazing and talented dog breed out there ;) <3
GSD is awesome. But Border Collie FTW.

omg im 13 and i would deffinetly sell my wii for a dog!!!
asddance 2 years ago
@dabomber34 when your really motivated on getting a dog you should talk to your parents and go to a good breeder or rescue :-)
ATouchOfMagic88 2 years ago
@dabomber34 well 13 year old boy, I enjoy your enthusiasm,...however they require a lot of work, training, and attention. Wait until you are at the right position in your life to own one, otherwise it is unfair to the dog.

@dabomber34 It's good that you would give up all that for one but i gotta tell you they are hard work unless they are trained from a young stage.

have you ever tought, that maybe was the eukanuba meal the cancer's cause? i have read about barf diet, and i think it's cheaper, and healthier, i have 4 GS and i love them, if is not meat, i try to cook, "lawa" i'm from bolivia
Laparanoicafierita 2 years ago

I didnt now know that these breed exists.
so if any one can help me please do
TheCaneCorso 2 years ago
@TheCaneCorso there is no such thing. it was probably a smaller mutt that looked very similar to the german shepherd. my bfs cousin got a gsd mix and she really does look like a "miniature gsd" without the pointed ears. but, once you feel the fur, and view the temperament and body type, it is FAR from a gsd. however, there is the Dwarf German Shepherd Dog. but obviously, that is a result of dwarfism, not an actual breed.
dehbee 1 year ago
@dehbee <---------- dude it was a full blooded GSD you wasnt there I was the dog leg got crew off by a pitbull attack GSD isnt a great guard dog because they cant handle being biten and chew up by another dog it not even have to be a pitbull either it could be so mutt off the street so you can keep your 100.00 dollar dog man
TheCaneCorso 1 year ago
@TheCaneCorso YOU are the one that asked if there really was a "miniature gsd." on average, a gsd is 77-87lb, many grow up to 100lb+. that doesnt sound like a small dog to me. i dont know wtf your talking about. where did pitbull attacking gsd even come from? and honestly, if you only glorify dogs because its more vicious or better at fighting, maybe you shouldnt own ANY animal. try working on your english before acting like a total ass hole who doesnt even know what hes talking about.
dehbee 1 year ago
@dehbee <---------- oh yeah thats rights I did ask but I have seen one that was 22" and ity was a full blooded male GSD and I already found out what I saw was true after I went back around my old way and ask the owner of the GSD he told me its a rare breed of shephard but it is out there

RohenKilla 2 years ago
ya gotta feed them breed specific food as well as table scraps like meat, and whatever else. Just no onions, grapes or potatos.
ArcolaBridge 2 years ago
my shepherd loves potato chips, and all my dogs eat garlic and grapes. But you do have to feed them a good food. I used Purina sensitive systems (salmon and rice) my dogs all are doing great on that. my german shepherd hasn't had any of the skin issues or itchyness since i switched to that.
blkntandogs 2 years ago
grapes destroy the function of the dog bladder, grapes can actually cause bladder failure.

My favorite dog breed! Weather you want a loyal friend who can be gentle with children, or a fierce home guardian, the GSD meets those qualities, and way more!
