Dale! Greetings from South Africa. Just came across this and wanted to say hey. Nicely done, by the way. Still working on Fire on the Mountain. It's getting better!
wow..... we are a few miles apart but it is so great to connect through music! I hope you are enjoying working up that tune - which we could pick! Hope you and family are doing well,
@tonedr - thanks so much, i've just posted up my attempt (or rather aboout my 8th attempt!), i'd love your honest feedback, i think it'sd getting there but i just can;t get any decent consistency with it. the quality is pretty poor as it's just a webcam.
Well played sir. That Norman Blake rendition is in his DVD Guitar Techniques sold by Homespun. Is that you over at the Acoustic Voice forum? :) Great playing again sir.
hello, Norman Blake is just one of my all-time favorites! I am on the AV forum....really appreciate you taking time to watch and connect with this post. Hope all is good,
wow very well played. i too, play guitar and can play this tune...although, i havent seen it played with the capo on the 3rd fret (i play capo 2nd) and i must say, it sounds absolutely beautiful. if you dont mind me asking, what kind of guitar is that ur playing?
hello, really appreciate you watching......thanks! Great to hear you are playing this song as well......the guitar is a Collings C-10. I've had it about seven years now. Thanks again and i hope all is good,
hey Daniel, thanks for your kind words! I have never been to that meeting, sounds great though. Are you a part, i'd love to more if you want to email me - thanks again, dale.
Oh, one more thing - if you haven't already heard it, I bet you'd love Big Bill Broonzy's version of Glory of Love. It's a great fingerstyle rag, especially coupled with Big Bill's soulful voice.
Ok, this just answered the question I posted on another of your videos. Glad to see another Norman Blake fan. I love his music. My dream is to one day commission a custom Martin 00-40H like the one Norman used to play. Hopefully I'll eventually get up the courage to post some of my Norman renditions. Keep up the great playing!
I'm a HUGE NB fan. Not enough space here - but as much as people like to talk about certain flatpickers - what about Norman - he can do it all - great flatpick and fingerstyle player - and such tradional tone and music! Yes - put me down as a big fan. Thanks so much for sharing your love for his music as well - and I hope you get that dream guitar as well!! dale

y u play it so slow?

hello and thanks for watching! i don't know that there is a 'correct' tempo - i typically like some bluegrass things at less than 'all out' speed.
best,

Jerry4usall 4 years ago
For a long time, no. Just recently on YT did I see a video of someone singing the lyrics - thanks for watching!

A group called "The Hickory Project" sings the words to Whiskey Before Breakfast on their CD "Polaris".
