is the reason the bigger bully just pins down the smaller one and sits on him because they're originally bread to find illegal hunters, and jump on them and hold them down untill the land owner showed up?
I have a Bullmastiff pup that is 9 months old (search 'Stanley the Bullmastiff" for video of him) and he tends to do the same thing. When wrestling he will try to pin the person or animal he is playing with and lay on them. I believe it is a breed trait as you said.

@tiux1 Unfortunately, his sister died of kidney failure a month ago ... : (( She was 3,5 year old... :(
Our "Cloud" be well and healthy. Now he is 17 month old.

@carlosravel it's actually a trait that most alpha dogs use to show other pack members who's the boss and it's common in all breeds.
It is however more noticeable in larger breed & more specifically Bull-mastiff's who can easily throw their weight around
