  • I remember seeing this a couple of years ago before I had a youtube account. This is spectacular.

  • HOLY MOLY THATS AMAZING> wish she kept doing beam she could have been great

  • That was incredible! One thing you always have to give this gymnast is that she has no fear and willing to try extremely difficult moves that many wouldn't ever dare to try. I just love her and hear that she is shooting for 2012! Is there any video out there showing her make this move?

  • @pappysprite She has no fear (and works very hard) but she jumps very high. This mount in the piked position was no big deal for her.

  • horrible form

  • that's gotta be at least an 'F' in value.

  • Not even IN the COP.

    Wow.

  • I think it would be a G because a full twisting layout mount is a G

  • crazy mount...but Daiane Dos Santos on Beam just seems like a weird concept to me, lol

  • daiane is an amzing gymnast, so powerful and really a good all rounder when it comes to difficulty, but i agree with you, her on beam just doesnt make sense to me. Its the same with beth tweddle.. it just doesnt fit?

  • that's crazy

  • wow, that is a pretty cool mount. I wonder if anyone else has attempted it?

  • It may not seem like it, but have you noticed many gymnasts barely get that down in tucked position?

  • I guess you can do it better.

  • Oh come on, imagine doing a front layout onto a raised platform; that would be hard enough, but she is doing it onto a 10cm wide beam!!

  • @natcomber13 just what i was thinking, , a full rotation up to a raised level, in that position, with a blind landing. Has she used it in major competition??x

  • @NoSuchThing2009 And 80% of her Achilles tendon was torn after this competition, held in december of 2000.

  • @vitorfvalente She had a tendinitis but kept competing until the end of that year.

  • Daiane is really sweet - I met her at the 2004 Birmingham world championships and took a photo with her. She missed Cottbus this year because of a shoulder (or was it elbow) injury but hopefully we shall see a lot more of her in 2006 and I hope she keeps competing till the 2008 Olympcis!

  • And she will. She recently confirmed a 2008 Olympics participation. Unfortunately, she also confirmed that after 2008 Olympic Games she'll retired.

  • Hmmm, thanks for that. I look forward to seeing Dos Santos compete this exciting new move soon at the next competition and hopefully there will be a clearer video to do this exciting new trick justice then! Thank you for sharing this.

  • this is maybe a year or two old. Daiane no longer competes beam just Floor mostly and sometimes bars and vault in team competitions. She had a really weak beam. She had big skills like this mount, and a double front dismount but she had sketchy form and it was hard on her knees apparently. But maybe she'll surprise us all and show up with a beam routine one of these days.

  • Pardon me if I am wrong, but didn't she do a front fly spring mount? It is a grainy video but I thought I saw her putting her hands on the beam ?

  • No, She definitley has her arms to her side; besides it was a big deal when she attempted this I believe there was even a mention in International Gymnast magazine.
