I love the discreet way police is able to let people enjoy and same time protect the big crowd when things got out of hands. When riots went down 2008, i was still having good time. I took my three year old on Monday and she loved it. Her first carnival. Policing was tight and polite. I can remember back in 2001 or so numbers dropped because of trouble. Hope it won't be the same next year.
Last time i went carnival, I watched 4 black youths.. 3 of them swinging kitchen knives at anyone in their path, The crowd was jam packed so know one could see them properly. This was about 8 years ago. If you saw these youths faces man.. No remorse, they were loving it.

It's an unfortunate reality that they need to limit the number of people entering certain parts of the route at certain times in order to ensure public safety. The length of the queues is merely a reflection of the event's popularity. The police do a difficult and frequently dangerous job and deserve our support.
