  • People should never forget this band

  • this version (the travel sequence) is so much better than the one include in the experience edition

  • superbe 6:36

  • weirdest thing that the travel sequence has almost no similarity with on the run

  • Pink Floyd was Pink Floyd, end of story.

  • NOTHING TO SAY!!! PERFECT!!

  • We had a great time at this quad show. There were about 8 generator powered spotlights outside of the bowl. I wondered why they were there. Duh. They fired them and I went to heaven. Feel lucky to have been the 16 year old Flintridge boy at the Hollywood Bowl. The Green cash register for money was insane.

  • I've never heard this, fabulous!

Another hidden gem that I am blessed to have heard. Saw the Floyd do the Wall, and unfortunately it was the only live performance of them I've ever seen and heard.

    Thanks for posting this!

  • I love the part where the guy tests his microphones, edited out of this

also there are 2-3 different recordings of this, one allegedally in quadraphonic

2:56 you can hear it elsewhere on other recordings

  • The chance from "Breathe" to "The Travel Sequence" just sounds really weird to me. Maybe it's because I'm so conditioned to hear "On The Run".

  • I ♥ Pink Floyd

  • @nadagraff

    Don't we all!

  • its funny this is a pretty late pre-recording "eclipse" version of breathe. First of all, gilmour doesnt have the riff approach he had to the earlier performances, but he keeps the opening solo. Interesting, see this is how bands are supposed to evolve.

  • Whoever gave this thumbs down is just wrong!!

  • xD 2:53 the german water advertisement in the background

  • SWEET!!!!! Thanks

  • love those guitar chords

  • so pink floyd is the epitome of progressive rock

  • never again. this. :/

  • OH GOD !!! They were fucking mad... AMAZING STUFF !!! Thanks for sharing dude...

  • I never get tired of hearing PF in any form. Be it official releases, studio-sessions, live etc.

  • where is the video from this? you know the dark side of the moon dvd, they show a video clip with the music, where is the footage? no one seems to have the full tune...

  • @hotlanta71 The video on the 'Making of the Dark Side of the Moon' film was taken at the Brighton Dome, and I think they MAY have used some footage from Earls Court. But the music used is taken from the soundboard, which does beg the question "Why won't they just commercially release concerts they used to tape?"

  • What bootleg is this taken from?!Such an incredible Travel Sequence...!

  • the music of Pink Floyd to me is a reflection of one big giant acid trip. you know how when your on acid you feel happy and sad on and off?

SO MANY Pink Floyd songs sound like that! for example: in comfortably numb the verses sound so low and sad and then the chorus sounds uplifting and joyful. the lyrics dont necessarily describe an acid trip but what the say sounds like something you would say on acid. "Will the key unlock my mind?"

  • @freddiebarry93 Jesus, you took a wrong turn somewhere.

  • @miamad I am not Jesus. And Jesus DID take a wrong turn somewhere

  • @freddiebarry93 lolol jesus did indeed take a wrong turn. what a fuck face.

  • @freddiebarry93 Yah, but Pink Floyd has meaningful things to write about. Not just a ramble of hallucinations and pyschedelia

  • I hate breathe bcoz it's too short......make it 20 minutes

  • @hafieq I'll second that

  • This is awesome. I got stub and a program from this show because some dude left it in his copy of Meddle and forgot to take it out when he sold it to the record store. Even the dude who checks the vinyl didn't see it.

  • this version of the traveling section is sweet! no synth required

  • This is awesome!!! Thanks for the post.

  • i can only imagine the amount of minds melted at this concert.

  • best version ive heard of the travel sequence\! nice

  • the layers of instruments in this song is the greatest signature of Floyd...all the musicians are playing their own jams, but melding it together flawlessly...I think that they were the first ever band to be capable of doing this...other bands were so scripted until this time...the best analogy I have is looking at actors from the early 1930's and looking at the actors today...early times had method acting, whereas today its multidimensional...Floyd had this down almost 40 years ago!!! WOW!!

  • @sillentdragon Not all other bands, were scripted some of the great German bands like CAN especially. I love Floyd, but I find them often highly overrated and over credited. I don't think their core fans have heard much of what other bands were doing at the time. Floyd weren't the only ones doing experimental stuff, and I fibnd some other bands like the aforementioned CAN much better at experimentation or improv or talent.

  • Dude WTF is with you and dogs? we got it ok! no need to repeat your self!!!

  • This is good, but it doesn't evoke the sense of fear as well as On The Run does. still a rather interesting find, regardless.

  • culture judge is a fucking moron.

  • couldnt have put it better myself

  • Well fuck me, CultureJudge has had more album sales than anyone else we can think of........... twat.

  • Sheesh, just because the guy doesn't like it doesn't mean he's the Antichrist or something...

  • In fairness, I have heard better recordings of the Travel Section... this is a bit shapeless by comparison. I like the better versions of Travel Section - yes it evolved into On The Run, but it's still a good bit of messing about with basic blues.

  • thanks for the fuckin critique I'll be compiling into my private archive called the shitter. oh, one more thing, shut the fuck up.

  • That's me told then.

  • @zevans2008

    a reasonable comment.....

curious that so many people take such great offense

    at one other's perspective.

  • Pink Floyd Owned the 70's. I hope history repeats itself with a band like Floyd, but it sure as shit ain't me writing the songs.

  • There will never be another Pink Floyd. But these days we have bands like Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Tool, and Dream Theater to pay our respect to. They take what Pink fLoyd once did and add other influences to their music.....

  • for me they just dont do it i dont see the connections, pf is the few progessive bands that i can stand even

  • I enjoy alot of progressive rock bands but, Pink Floyd was the one band that knew what notes to hit, what notes to leave out, and they showed that your music does not have to be be overly technical, or be based in a million odd time signatures to be impressive and considered progressive. I started playing guitar 17 years ago at age 7 because of Gilmour and this band. And their music honestly will never get old....

  • @SephynnXx Knows what notes to hit? Check out Can, love Floyd lots, but CAN is the band man.

  • @SephynnXx actually using the right chords is more technical than any other thing in music writing

  • @santiagodebellavista very true, personally when I write I strive to choose the right chords and notes. Speed doesnt mean a thing to me. Sure, I like learning new techniques on guitar and so on but, I do not strive to be Yngwie Malmsteen on guitar. I feel properly placed chords, notes, melodies, solos, and riffs in music means hell of a lot more then showing off how flashy you can play. One well played note means more then a dozen poorly placed notes...

  • Comment removed

  • @SephynnXx ok, i meant the right chord progression (e.g.: this song, Em7 A A5 A), then it s ok you can play. and btw petrucci, vai, etc, are not good musicians, the kinda floyd style is the best. but anyway, you re right

  • well thats good for you, you should be proud....lol

I am into prog rock, prog metal, death metal, black metal, jazz fusion, classical, ambient, jazz, blues, and folk music so, I love Pink Floyd but also like to broaden my musical tastes....

  • yeah but they all blow in comparison. Yes, Tool included, regardless of what you bandwagon twats think.

  • god blessssssss you moda fuka

  • Rockin. Great vocals on here.... etal.

  • disagree - OTR was completely unique for its time

  • alright... it was pretty much THE first step towards digital music... you have a good point.

but damn it, if only there was a clean, studio version of travel sequence somewhere, i would be happy

  • i kind of feel the same about the 4-piece version of AHM

  • "Bobmillahhh", the guy wo has -7 and +4 in the same comments page ; )

  • OTR is the ultimate trip, sober or not. An important life experience for all.

  • this is fucking genious! gilmours playing is amazing, and the travel section is fucking kick ass

  • Richard Wright´s!!! parts sound amazing on the travel sequence!!!!

  • kinda sounds like the funk part in echoes

  • This is great stuff! Thanks for posting!

  • ahhh this is amazing, i need to get more of this 70's bootleg footage

  • The Travel Sequence (On The Run) kinda reminds me of that old-ass instrumental "Tequila". Can't remember who did that, but that's what it reminds me of.

  • Pink Floyd's music was always something you could listen to after a hard day.

  • @Tron486 spot on.i found out the same works for me.

  • @Tron486

    Or during.

    :-)

  • @Tron486 Exactly what I'm doing now. Stressful day at work, followed by a few beers at home and listening to live versions of "Breathe/Time" and "On The Turning Away."

  • @Tron486 It still is!

  • @Tron486

also metal bands are music that you can listen after hard day and relax

  • This version of "on the run" is good to jam.

  • I agree.

  • Yeah its pretty awesome. haha.

  • This version of "on the run" is much happier

  • Yeah, in fact, it's a bit on the funky side!

  • and i wrote Dark Side of The Moon.

  • Video??? Nope, I thought not.

    The people didn't move.

  • yeah does anyone know if you can download the travel sequence or buy it anywhere cause it rocks man

  • There are various blogs and torrent sites where you can download Floyd shows. If you find one from 1972, where they play the early version of Dark Side Of The Moon, it'll be on there. It changed a bit though, as they developed it. The version from The Rainbow in early 72 sounds pretty different to this.

  • Yeah, or limewire, if you want shitty 128 mp3s and a virus.

  • if you have the appropriate anti virus software it will always warn you of shit from limewire, but essentially you are right, however the quality of this clip is hardly great.

  • It's a bootleg from the early 70's...

    Sounds pretty great to me!

  • i kinda like this version of on the run than what was released on the dark side of the moon

  • Lol, it sure is wierd how they did the tour of Dark Side of the Moon before the album was even released. One The Run sure did drastically change...

  • Well they did a lot of that back in the days.

  • They wrote the whole album, took it on tour to practice and develop it,(im sure it changed night to night)and they finally to it into the studio to make final changes and to put it tape.

  • no mames es la mejor banda Pink Floyd ningun grupo a alcanzado esa melodia extraordinaria que llega a tocar su musica, transformando individuos!

  • wow!, man how did you get that song?

  • waters and mason are so underestimated as a drummer and a bassist, but this proves every1 wrong, mason is looked down upon since other drummers can play "faster"...so? his drumming sounds so unique from others, and waters has that certain sound to his bass that i cant find anywhere else, those 2 are probably the best drummer and bassist ever, gilmour and wright, i dnt need to say anything bout em, we already know they kick ass!!! *cough* live 8 *cough*

  • what do you mean with Live8 ..you mean they kicked ass over there?

  • how would you be able to download the travel sequence..anyone know?

  • the keyboard on this "run" version reminds me of grateful dead..

    perhaps an influence..

  • And God created Floyd on the seventh day and said " Now I can die in peace" :)

  • execelente

  • floyd are crap!!........No not really, they are the best, seen waters twice, gilmour once with mason and wright doing wywh, what a night!!!!

  • I really prefer "The Travel Sequence" to "On The Run", there's just more going on than a continuous "do-do-do-do" synth thing going on

  • agree the travel sequence is so funky

  • It would be nice if they combined the two.

  • I've always thought of combining the two somehow with my band. i have a synth myself and recreated the On The Run pattern.

  • fuck hip hop god bless classic rock n roll

  • THE FLOYD FOREVER PUER BRILLIANT

  • What videos are the pictures from?

  • Great video, greatest band, thanks for putting this up, keep up the great word of spreading great music, instead of this American I-Dull bullshit they call entertainment.

  • Pink Floyd Forever

  • BEST BAND EVER!!!!!!!!!

  • @remainthesame I used to think that until I heard CAN.

  • @swans1997 I looked up this band CAN and dont see the appeal really. I see the talent but musically could not relate on any level to them. I listened to like 8 songs and wont be searching any further. Floyd has them beat by far. Listen to albums like Meddle, Darkside, Wish you were Here, and Animals, absolute masterpieces, not a bad song any of them albums.

  • @SephynnXx Well, to be fair, when I first heard The Wall, back when it first came out and my first time really hearing Floyd, aside from "Money" on the radio back in `73, I thought they were boring bastards, of course further listening, to entire albums rather than just a set of songs convinced me they really were worth my time. Now I dig em. Give Can some more time, they may grow on ya. They did for me, it wasn't immediate, but I instinctively knew they WERE worth my time,

  • @swans1997 Also, 8 songs is really just an albums worth . Download some albums like the first 4 and check those out. A highly original band , I think Can were more firey and don't sound as dated. I think that's why I dig em' more. Meddle is one of my top Floyd's ,Animals I've heard enough really, doesn't excite me like it used to, and Can, I think still offer me more musical as well as sonic discovery, like great jazz, whereas Floyd seem kinda one note and rote for me. I still dig em' though.

  • @swans1997 if you want to hear some cool bands jot these down and look them up. Big Big Train, Paatos, Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Solaris, IQ, The Flower Kings, Green Carnation, Anathema, Gargamel, Camel, I could go on all day if you wanted me to. I will checkout CAN some more. I always give music a chance. As for Floyd, besides pre-1970 Floyd, The Wall is my least favorite Floyd album of them all. I prefer Atom Heart, Meddle, Darkside, WYWH, and Animals the most. The Wall has its moments though.

  • @SephynnXx Some of those like Camel and Opeth, I know. I have some Opeth, Camel are ok, a little middling, I checked out a few albums in the nineties. Some of those like Flower Kings and Anathema, I need to get to and have been meaning to. I kinda got leery of checking out these sooper groovy prog bands, esp. the the newbie stuff like Spock's Beard. Porcupine Tree, seems interesting. Fripp seems to dig em'.

  • @SephynnXx I know some Italian stuff from the seventies like Osanna, and Goblin, I dig Gentle Giant and Soft Machine,Trad Gras Och Stenar, Amon Duul II, Van Der Graaf Generator, Red Krayola, Captain Beefheart, Voivod, some Nektar, Crimson, Tull, Ozric Tentacles, just a few I'm into or like. Tastes are varied, don't l listen to the same thing all the time. I hav Opeth's Deliverence. Good album. I even like Meshuggah. One of my top faves is SWANS.

  • @SephynnXx I know Camel and IQ also UK and bands like Egg, Porcupine Tree, I'll check out, everytime I hear of some supposed to be great neo-prog band, I 'm usually let down, because it'll invariably be cheesy. Prog usually can be.I have checked out Spock's Beard and as the kids say "that's gay" or Dream Theatre? Really? Prog? I don't think so. Voivod got more proggy and adventurous, than them guys DT seem more like buttrock. Thanks for the recommendations.
