His wife Linda is the world's best living saint, because this guy is a true man-whore.....my mom is 61 years old and she is still telling the story of how my dad chased down Tom Jones after catching him in the room with our mother before my parents got married.
My mom goes on about the wet, sloppy kisses Tom Jones laid on her......a big YUCK!!!!
But the man's got sex appeal and he is still singing. God bless his whole family..
My second best Tom Jones experience ever....the first being "It's Not Unusual" being played during the opening credits of "Mr. Jolly Lives Next Door"...
Saw Tom doing the whole album on a tiny stage on the Thursday night of last years latitude festival. Queued for 3 hours to be on the front row. What an amazing gig! He came on at midnight and blew the place away. Such a fantastic live performer. Over 40 yes in the business and it shows. That and motörhead were Two of the best gigs I've ever been to. He is The Man!
I was dating a girl back somewhere around his period. Tom Jones had hit after hit after hit. You know "What's new, pussycat?", etc. etc. etc. Early 70's I guess. I saw Elvis also right before he died. This cat, Tom Jones, had five times the panties and women climbing up on stage than Elvis did. Something else, huh. But, this song is a kicker. He nails this one. Stacey Bros. . . . well, okay I guess. But, Jones should go the blues route and belt these old songs out.
I never thought I would ever be buying a Tom Jones record, I grew up in the early 70's listening to Black Sabbath, Zeppelin, Deep Purple etc...., Tom Jones has got a winner here with this song, it rocks, can't stop listening to it, sounds great live
Since seeing Tom and that wicked guitarist on Ross's show I have been hooked on this track, I can't start the day without juicing up on this first. Tom, you can teach so much to the papp in the charts these days. Long live Tom Jones.
would love to hear him sing this live, with Joe Bonamassa playing guitar.A mix of this + joe's version(live at "rockpalast") would be out of this world.
Out in the middle of nowhere at my ranch. Letterman in the background, only channel I can get. Thinking its time to put the guitar in the attic cause rock aint rockin anymore.
And then I hear this lone mean blues/rockin guitar. Then a lean mean drum groove. Then I hear this voice singing some bad ass bayou blues.
So I look up from book I'm reading ( shadow divers) and yell for my son and then we both just start smiling and I got goose bumps. Tom Jones lookin Good and Rockin the blues!
I was never a real fan of tom jones until i saw this performance that friday night. It blew me away. I have new-found respect for tom jones. In fairness he's the master of Re-invention). The man is 70 FFS & he keeps on truckin', What the fuck is going on? How the fuck is he doing it? What the fuck is his secret ? Fair Play is all i'll Say.
this song and "Strange Things" were immediately a joy...all the others are growing on me the more i listen. Tom said he wanted these songs to make folks think...and Did Trouble Me, What Good am I and Nobody to... are doing that just as much now as this smokin song right from the start....
i love the "please"...it shows even better in the version he did on Jools' show... and there is something about that gray hair and older weathered face singing the lyrics to all these songs. Bravo Tom!
