i am the cosmic dancer and i have everything auto da fe did, i danced at all of their dublin gigs, i went to see them from 1982 till 1990. . they were an amazing band.
This sounds like a "live" version to me. Anyone have the original? It is much more synth, from what I can recall 25+ years ago! Jesus, I'm getting on!!!
Robbie Brennan & Trevor Knight from Auto Da Fe toured with Phil on his SOLO IN IRELAND TOUR 82. Just recently re-framed the signed promo poster from one of the shows.
Les Enfants, thats a blast from the past. Don't have the LP but I do have Auto da Fe's Five Singles.EP and the album Tatitum, along with a couple of their singles, all purchased in the 80s. Tatitum I believe is ultra-rare, as are any of the bands singles. Anyone remember a band called The Atrix? They were rubbish, as I recall but we're talking obscure Irish 80s bands so I thought I'd throw it in there! Thanks cgm1960 for the trip down memory lane. Blacksabfan, keep up the good work. Thanks.
Hey Sabbra - THe Atrix. Yes I have a single of theirs, the moon is puce !! Wow, this is amazing. I was in a band in Ireland then, we were called Speed ! Don't worry, you won't have heard of us but we had fun. Cheers and thanks for the memory too ! Cheers Cgm.
The Atrix ... Hummmm. Theres a 12" back in my parents house circa 1980. Compilation of Dublin bands with sleeve-notes by Dave Fanning. Can't for the life of me rem the track The Atrix played on it ("Reptile ?"). I'll look it up next time I'm home...
OK Guys here's another one for you. Has anyone else got Les Enfants LP. Touche even more rare than the Auto Da Fe ?? Features epic tracks alone again tonight and taking your love away.
Shame this band never made it. Great songs and great musicians. Saw them live once in Dublin back in the 80s. Philo was also involved with another Dublin band called Clann Eadair. Not sure if any recordings exist. They were a traditional Irish group so most Lizzy/Auto da Fe fans were'nt interested.
Hey Seattle. Are you sure you got the right one ? The live version is a pretty poor imitation of the studio version. Congrats if you did, if not keep looking for the original version as featured on 5 singles and one smoked cod (not a smoked cod as quoted above) it is far superior K.
Am I the only one in the world with the original 5 singles and one smoked cod 12" EP / mini album on vinyl in immaculate condidtion ??? Bought in Ireland when released
@caoighim1960 Mine is up in the attic somewhere, with all the other vinyl. I did get a CD copy of a session recording they did for BBC one time, with Phil Lynott on this track.
Use to go see Auto Da Fe regularly in Dublin. They were a new wave type of outfit and Lynott did some work with them.He produced their mini album "four singles and a fresh cod" and played on some tracks. He occasionally guested with them at a number of their gigs. The song man of mine appeared on this album alright ,but as for the version above I do know they recorded it for irish tv and also did a bbc session ,so it could be from either.
Its not live, Philip who produced it put a backing track on the end and put it out as a record for auto da fe to get more people to see them live !!You heard it here first
@dublinnoel it is a live recording done at the bbc paris studio in london for the janice long sessions phil was guesting with the band and i was on drums 1984
If I knew more I would have posted it in the description. Someone else probably knows more about it than me. I just know it was live, it was in 1983, and it was with Auto De Fe.

@blacksabfan Lol! Man..you never saw Auto da Fe live>..they rocked..
I reckon Phil was talking and listening to a lot of new stuff, and was really thinking of changing direction with his music.

No you are not - i also have it, and it still sounds fresh.
They were the best of their type in Ireland at the time and really should have been huge.

And here's me thinking I had a good collection of unusual Lynott stuff.
It goes to show another side to his talent.
Phil as an artist and Thin Lizzy as a band remain hugely underrated. Not much since has been nearly as good. Great post!!
