@Eddie5012 It's not crossing rivers. That's a totally different song. Jonathan Elias wrote this peice specifically for Valspar paint. It doesn't have a name...
Still brings a tear to my eye. At this point it's very nostalgic. Doesn't come on tv anymore. A whole year later. I miss it. Very somber, depressing and overwhelming music. Makes you believe reality can be like this dream state of ambiguity.
Plus, I listened to the Everquest piece and although it's nice for it's particular context, when you consider the pauses and the chosen instruments, there NO competition whatsoever.
I'd actually say that the Everquest song "Kelethin" is similar at best, but definitely not the same as this piece. (It'd almost be insulting to say so). Like you said, copied or not this, is just stunning
I got the exact same email from Valspar. That music is so captivating I had to find out. Pretty cool a TS takes the time to answer requests for info. Thanks vpainter for posting this.
this song is from a video game called everquest. was the kelathin music i belive. didnt even give credit to 14 year old midi from the greatest game ever made.
The song in this video is an altered version of the song Crossing River by the artist Johnathan Elias....as i said though this is an altered version of the song and it seems the only one you can find is the original that Mr. Elias did. Too bad for us!
This song is written by Jonathan Elias. He wrote this song just for the Valspar commercials. It is said that this song may come out on a new cd sometime in 2010.
Nice to know I'm not the only one captivated by this commercial. The song Ice on the St. Laurance by Jonathan Elias is very close to the song in the commercial. Either way..this is the first commercial that ever stopped me in my tracks to watch. If anyone finds the song title..pls post it. Thanks
This song is smooth and relaxing. the name of the song is Ice on the St Luarence by Jonathan Elias. The song is a bit different then the one used in the commercial. But we should send an email to valspar and ask them to release the version used for the commercial.
i heard this is unreleased material made specifically for these dumb commercials. the music is so beautiful, hopefully it will be released,if it hasnt already!
It actually sounds like a version of "Ice on the St. Laurence" from Jonathan Elias. It's on iTunes. Same melody and tempo, but the commercial sounds like the violins have been removed... Maybe a custom version of that song?
This sounds SO much like a song from Final Fantasy 8 or something. Every time this commercial comes on it makes me stop just to hear it and check if it is or not xD
Such a shame, the song isn't even really out yet. It's exclusive, or somewhere around those lines. Hopefully the song will come out and I can put it on my iPod. The full version that is.
You must be a sweet kid. It's very beautiful, what you said.
It made me think of the time I would be sent to the store to buy a slice of cheese, I would always pick at it and would say to myself that once grown up, I would buy a whole slice for myself. We weren't so poor, but it's just the innocence of youth and the dreams that come with it. Regards.
In every Valspar upload, the comments almost seem to universally praise the music. Don't get me wrong, the music is fine, but look at that cinematography!
Drink it up, friends. Enjoy it while you can. It seems that most companies these days don't seem to care much about the visual aesthetics of their ads, opting to go with dead, metallic digital shooting. These days it's rare a company will care enough to shoot with film, as Valspar clearly is doing.
Well, you see, the commercial is for paint, so they had to make it look nice, to imply that the paint will look nice. They probably don't care one way or another.
Every company should want to make their products look nice. Even if it's just a matter of flattering the actors, they should want them to look good just because the viewer would then subconsciously associate aesthetic beauty and warm feelings with the product.
Logically, food companies and beauty products should want their commercials to look as warm as a paint company would, yet most of them I see these days are opting for flat, stale-looking digital. The latest McDonald's ads are hideous.
You're right that the "square butts" BK commercial is kind of dumb (if that's what you're referring to). Its dumbness is made worse, though, because they too have chosen to shoot digitally. (And I think they just started doing that this year. Before it was all film for them.) The antiseptic, flat, ugly quality of the visuals of that commercial take what was probably a stilly idea to begin with and remove any possible humor or enjoyment that could've been mined from it. (Obviously, IMHO.)
wow, this must be some pretty awesome paint...you know marketing's done thier job when youre willing to watch thier commercial.music's really captivating.
i love the music for all the valspar commercials, i just wish jonathan elias would release the full versions! KingTyler987 is very right, "crossing river" is about as close to the commercial as you are going to get.

why not. . . you asked for the artist and song. you cant find this song on any of his cd's, so i told you the song that sounds the closest to it. it is almost the same thing.
There is no name to the song, he was commissioned to make this for the commercial... and all the other Valspar commercials. His album "American River" has music similar to that from the commercials.
does anyone know the name of the song

Well by golly. This is the same music that's in the brand new Valspar Commercial that just came out.
I thought the music was brand new too, but it's just reused from this commercial and being that this video was posted back in March.......that's old.
Oh well. It's new to me and I wish it was a full complete song. I hate when Commercial do this.
