  • @jirosel same here

  • poor adam and edvard......

  • What.....The....Fuck..... are they doing at a research outpost with a flamethrower?

  • @Responsetoignorant It's an outpost out in Freezing arctic temperatures. If there's a bad storm and they get trapped inside by snow and ice those flamethrowers are needed. It's a rather common thing to find in outposts in the Arctic and Antartcic

  • @Japaneseanimeguy MMM, I'm not finding anything about these places having flamethrowers, send me a link please, but there is one problem with this. Flamethrowers throw gasoline jelly all over the place fucking up anything it touches including machinery. You see childs holding an m7A1 flamethrower WWII style. Industrial torches on the other hand, would've made more sense, I don't know, maybe they modified em.

  • dose ever body know the 2011 thing movie I think that was prequel of this movie.

  • btw- nothing against Rob Bottin, but I think Stan Winston did the best job with the dog out of all the thing transformations. The dog..coupled with ennio's music..is just freakin badass looking.

  • Im willing to bet in 1982 when this was shown in theaters- the trash bins were overflowing with popcorn, candy and any other consumables they might have been eating.

  • Release the hounds

  • 11 More days!

  • @ 3:20: "Ruh-roh."

  • The prequel is just the stupidest form of making money from the back of a golden whale. Instead of making a restart or a remake they go ahead and try to explain something that needs not explaining. Disgusting form of using movies.

  • @aserta Or you are just stupid and you prefer people making "remakes"

remake my friend is the shittiest thing to do

Like - Did you saw what they did to Friday the 13th ?

How can you say people should make remakes ? that was dumb

And the prequel was good enough

  • @ThePredatordark Let me go ahead, friend and ask you who the fuck would watch Friday the 13th anyways. It's straight up boring US crap. As for remakes. Just because a select amount of morons like riding on glory that does not mean it's true for all. Just like it's true that not all apples are green, cars red and pigeons white.

  • @aserta Well believe it or not "friend"

Actually alot of people are watching it

But i'm not talking only about Friday the 13th

    These days horror movies suck

    but this wasn't too bad

that's what i'm trying to say...

  • BLAIR I WANT YOU TO START AN AUTOPSY RIGHT AWAY!

    Blair: fuck off

  • poor doggies :(

  • This "thing" looks really delicious :o

  • the dogs scene is fucking scary

  • how are they getting tv in antarctica

  • @Mattz511 Its a recording my man. Notice how he switched the tapes.

  • @SUPPORTOUTBREAK3 oh tht makes sense

  • ok....after seeing what this dog is... i think im going to tie up my dog and give HIM the blood test....

  • The original movie is (IMO) better but I appreciate the efforts that the design team (of the recent movie) went to in order to keep to the 1982 version.

  • HOLY SHIT THE GUYS WHOS FACES COMBINED TOGETHER!!!

  • the dog is like ohshitits THAT guy again

  • I BET U IT WAS DOOR #3!

  • lol this is why i read the comments 1st, then watch the movie...so much to learn about it

  • i was born in 86 and never really watched the thing till today, i just watched the prequel and now im watching this one. i think this shit fyi cause i know everything that just happened to that place. so far everything fits.

  • I have a theory on how Blair is assimilated. Pay attention at 4:06. They said the cells of the thing are alive and are never truly dead, and even if a small dose of it gets a hold of of you through skin contact, it'll only be a matter of time you'll be taken over. But Blair's arms look like they a little speck of blood on them.

  • @manofdahour84 he was doing an aoutopsy on it so it makes sense

  • @manofdahour84 In a way, this is more like a disease, not really a creature.

  • Ugh I hate animal cruelty in films. It ruins it, and serves no purpose.

  • @MEareCAT Rubbish, it served a lot of purpose. REAL LIFE doesn`t keep dogs out of dying sometimes by whatever. What so you expect the Thing to ignore all the dogs just to suit YOUR sensibilities? That would make no sense. And it don`t matter how much you love dogs- I love dogs but if I want to make a realistic movie where dogs get killed then I would do it. Just as i would with humans and I think Humans are just as valuable as dogs.

    Dumb idiot.

  • @MEareCAT

well you talk about animal cruelty in films

how bout a seeing one of your own kind skined and hanging upside down in predator

or slashed to bits in countless serial killer movies

i think this film had a lot more human fatalities and grotesque deaths then just the poor dogs

  • Why can't I find a part 2!!!???

  • ...OH, those dogs are screwed.

  • 7:10 not for dog owners!

  • Props to the makers of the 2011 prequel for staying so damn close to the original. Not a thing was changed, which is rare in todays whored out movie industry.

  • 1: 42 The dog sits innnocently as if to say 'i'm a good dog'.

  • 1:42 The sits innocently as if to say ''i'm a good dog''

  • poor dog!

  • indeed

  • Apparently "Go get Childs" is code for " I need the flamethrower!!!! "

  • why do they have flamethrowers in antarctica?

  • @asseeninYOURDREAMS i've always wondered that myself, maybe they use the ice around there as a water source with a filtration system, and they need the flame throwers to melt it?

  • @prime513 hahahaha

  • @asseeninYOURDREAMS - to thaw out the ice whenever they get thirsty. ;-)

  • @ChuckyDoll10 isnt it more efficient to use the gas to heat it up the old fashion way its less dangerous and theres less waste.... i guess the writer thought it was a cool way to kill the monsters.

  • @asseeninYOURDREAMS - errrrm maybe. I'm not an expert my friend. I was only trying to be funny anyway. Obviously it didn't work.

    ;-)

  • @asseeninYOURDREAMS - Errrrrm I dunnow. You are most likely right. ;-)

I would rather freeze to death than burn to death. ;-)

    Happy Christmas dude. :-)

  • @asseeninYOURDREAMS

The Thing is based on a short story called "Who goes there", and in that story they used the flamethrowers to heat up the frozen engines of their Boeing jet in order to get it running.

Why did they have flamethrowers in the movie, even though they didn't have a Boeing jet? Because FLAMETHROWERS!!!

  • can i say this the new one comes before this if im right tell me because im so confuse plz help

  • @oscarin8181 i think it happen 48 hours b4 this one

  • @lotofhate - did you like the prequel mate? I loved it.

  • @ChuckyDoll10 lot people said it was crap that put me of it alittle but wen i watched it i really injoyed the film

  • @ChuckyDoll10 yeah it was. people say it sucked but it filled in all the blanks for me, like the corpse with two heads i would have never figured out what happened without the prequel.

  • @mralanv - Yeah I was impressed with the prequel and the bird in it is sexy.

  • I think the prequel was awesome.

  • @joujou264 Yeah, I did too. It was alright, not as good as this but I didn't have huge expectations so my opinion was less hard on it.

  • @joujou264

The prequel was the pure shit. The baddest movie I've seen in a long time!

  • @idum01 The prequel was good, man. The movie stayed true to this one. I can understand that you didn't like it as much as this one but it was a good movie and seems like they got everything right on.

  • @idum01 Is that a good or bad thing nowadays?

  • @joujou264 Amen brother! Just as scary and thrilling as the original!

  • @joujou264 It was alright as a stand alone movie, but as a prequel, blows the ass of a donkey. So many inconsistencies.

  • @joujou264 You're full of it, joujou!

  • @joujou264 It was greta alright, but I think they used way too much CGI

  • not bad, I mean after watching 2011 The Thing It does pick up the ends pretty well, certain parts esp. within the movie.

  • Where the gone the part two of this movie?????

  • was that a....video cassette player he was using to watch the tv with, i've heard about those, i thought they were just a myth!! my worlds just flipped on it's head, before u know it i'll find out that tv really DID used to be black n white, and that unicorns really exist.........whats that?...unicorns do exist! well, at least i can relax in the knowledge that black n white tvs arent real, phew!

  • does anyone else thing the guy with the glasses working the radio looks just like hyde from that 70's show?

  • If you gonna do a serious horror movie then anything should be a potential victim: men, women, children and DOGS.

I`d hate an adult horror movie that allowed dogs to magically survive because some people don`t like it. It also adds gravitas to a movie, "The dog was killed? Shit! this movie`s SERIOUS!"

Also it kinda annoys me that people say it`s ok to kill cats, but not dogs, I mean WTF!?

  • @seafireliv its the same thing with comedy too though, ''aw you cant make jokes about that, its offensive'' erm no, it just makes you uncomfortable, everything should be fair game, in comedy and films alike, and if people dont like it, then they just shouldnt watch it, i hate when people say ''i didnt like that, it offended me'' well you shouldnt have watched it, no-one forced you too. its a funny old rock we live on eh?

  • I found this scene pretty powerful. Good special effects and the sheer acting of shock is excellent. You get the feeling that they`re like `WTF is this? What are you looking at? What are we even doing here?"

There`s that whole feeling that hasn`t quite sunk in yet for them that they`re witnessing something that they are seriously going to regret.

  • WOW the prequel just explain everything what happen amazing they use every lil detail from were they got the monster from the ice wen he left the axe at amazing.

  • 2:00 Hey guys! Instead of a turkey I got this for thanksgiving dinner! Who wants gravy?

  • @georgekostaras ew i would never eat that. i'd save it and try to win the noble prize!!!

  • @100mmatte I'm sure it would taste fine as long as you had little chewing and a lot of cranberry sauce.

  • The Thing (2011) is the prequel for The Thing (1982). And the new prequel still bringing the horror even not so scary. But it is the best prequel when people can understand why there is the burning house and why the man try to shoot that dog.

  • @namitokiwa I agree that was the best prequel ever made. They did a great job linking the two movies.

  • @namitokiwa What? -.-

  • @namitokiwa well said

  • @namitokiwa i think its better not to know that the dog was infected til it was too late, yeah it can give the audence like "no the dogs infected run" but its better not to know cause we know nothing about it and thats why its interesting and more frighting to see the dog show what it really was.

  • Splitface, the most scariest and disturbing creatures that the "Thing|" have made......

  • @boriska808 the splitface looks morelike 1 face split in half. n the new movie the splitface is two faces put together

  • they did a good job with the new 2011 The Thing movie i just seen it before watching this and i loved it lol i had never seen the 1982 version only parts, they feel like the same damn writer lol great job bringing them together as one story the new The Thing is no remake its a prequel and i must say its awesome to see the new one first and then come back to see the 82 version seeing this now dose not feel like this was made in 82 it feels ahead of its time... I now Love this film!

  • I will never like the fact that they kill the dogs......... DON'T TOUCH THE FUCKING DOGS!! rape little babys, I don't give a fuck, but don't touch the dogs!!!!!

  • Everythime I watch horror movies I get the craving for beef jerky....

  • the splitface monster is scarier in this film, and its not even alive. lol

  • @100mmatte so true lol just saw the prequel today ..the only thing that made me happy during that was hearing the J.C. thing theme at the end lol

  • @RemusRomulas in the J.C. version the splitface had tentacles. n the new movie it walked around and ate people. and it had 4 eyes. wtf

  • And I'm pretty sure it didn't eat up people in the prequel, unless assimilating seems like eating to you.

  • @RemusRomulas did the dog look the same

  • great now i cant eat dinner

  • that damn dog creeped me the hell out when they showed it looking out the window its like the thing knew what was going on

  • the thing is really a bad thing

  • @TheTVDeadpool NOOOO REALLY????

  • 4:40 Adam and Edvard

  • @BlazeHolt the adam/edvard-thing barely resembles the one in this movie.

  • id go crazy up there too but at least they have some pot,so it cant be that bad, that would help ,im canadian & we love our pot...

  • in the prequel splitfaces skin was burned away...and in here it looks like it was regenerating

  • @prime513 No it looks like obvious, texture-less CGI

  • I like Clark.

  • and this, ladies and gentlemen, is why i will NEVER go to antartica

  • What does this person have against dogs? I really wouldn't care if they were cats, but DOGS!?

  • @SpecOpsStormTrooper What do you have against cats?o3o You're sounding like the person who doesn't care about dogs but with cats instead.

  • @xWolfandBowserFanx

It was a joke, to be honest. But I just like dogs more then cats.

  • @SpecOpsStormTrooper

    next time take mice

    nobody cares about mice ;D

  • Am I the only one who notices at 5:11 Palmer puts on the new tape and the music is love some contemporary jazz and then all of a sudden at 5:24 some random clown noise comes out of nowhere.

  • @kylemac0848 That's a saxophone

  • @kylemac0848

    that wasnt a clown noise

somebody just started to play the saxophone and the rest of the sound was cut off

  • I like everyone's reaction in the movie. No dumbass in here goes in by himself and keeps searching, no, he sounds the fucking alarm and brings the rest of the crew loaded with guns. The reactions are true to what a person would do in real life. Kill the fucking thing with fire, no questions asked.

  • When they look at the ice block, the music made me think, oh shit, there's a facehugger somewhere in the room...

  • it all makes sense now after watching the 2011 version :)

  • 9:44

    Macready: hurrrrrpa durrrr

  • KILL IT WITH FIRE

  • "Mac wants the flamethrower!"

    "what?"

"That's what he said - now move!"

    "Dammit!"

Sounds like this sort of thing has happened before!

  • fuck that dog, i woulda been outta there quick as fuck. i aint even tryin to fuck around with that thing

  • The prequel did not ruin the story at all, but it made john carpenters masterpiece seem cheap wiht all the cgi. they basically just proved they can show more blood and gore, which ist what the series is about at all, its about the amazing story

  • This remake is an underrated horror film. Carpenter was at his best with this film; it managed to maintain fidelity to the spirit of the original but also had its own distinctive touches. Thank god there was no CGI. The overuse of special effects have ruined many a horror film. This picture reminds me of Alien.

  • @orlandodanny Totally. We need more conventional effects done nowadays. People like John Favreau know this, and his effects kick the ass of CGI

  • @adakun13

You kidding me? Cowboys and Aliens was one big joke, LOL

  • @orlandodanny you're right. in this movie, like halloween, carpenter made great use of the music to set the tone for the scenes and the movie overall. he didn't need much special effects. he made the audience use its own imagination. a great storyteller.

  • @nissansentraglx As opposed to the prequel where they just showed the fucker in all his poorly CGIed glory XD plus NO interesting characters, not even the protagonists

  • @orlandodanny This is a remake? Whats the original?

  • @MrIHunter1 The original film was called "The Thing from Another World" and was released in 1951. James Arness played the title role. Most films from that era seem dated today. The Thing is one of the few sci-fi films from the '50s that still holds up well. Dialogue, although sometimes corny by today's standards, is largely entertaining. The special effects were done well, particularly the sounds made by the creature. And the the movie includes a great scene involving the use of fire.

  • @orlandodanny Interesting. I'll look it up! thanks ;)

  • Gotta love the 1980's where the virtually had no CGI to abuse. :D

  • That damn dog......now that's a bitch.

  • Dam the dog part still breaks my heart

  • @Spuntikable

I feel the same way:( I would have never put scenes like that in the film if I was the director.

  • @Spuntikable Yeah, mine too. I love this movie but I hate to see even a depiction of animals suffering..

  • If you hear something strange from the dog cage...

NEVER open the door. (except if you'd be so quick that you could save the dogs AND also yourself...)

Seems to be kinda good movie actually, has something common with Alien which I liked very much :)

  • at 950 thats the look i get from my old lady when i ask for some pussy

  • that dog... man... what an actor.. scared the hella outta me

  • wow even now looking back at this movie I still almost cry when i see the dog in 7:17-7:20 just bark and desparetly grab onto the gate like "Oh shit! OAO"

  • The dog was all spying on everyone!

    Hahahahaha what a good actor!

  • You can really feel the desperation of those dogs when they try to get out

  • 3:04 isnt that just the purtiest fast you ever did see?

  • 7:50 - poor cutie! he is so terrified, for real!

    :-(

    who wouldn't?

hopefully he got some good petty and huggy afterwards....

  • The Thing (Prequel) was pretty ok, it fits great sort like a fan fiction, besides the horrible shitty cgi, its not were as good as John C's the thing but still a pretty good movie nothing terrible.

  • @theDeAdIsRiSiNg666 While I respect your oppinion I must disaggree

  • omg kurt russells vioce in english is crap sounds better when he is synced in german

  • Comment removed

  • Should have picked foor number 3

  • I still can't believe even after all these years how phenomenal that dog actor is.

  • the dog is the best actor in this part..

  • RIP Vaughn from Community. Go play hacky sack in heaven.

  • just goes to show you that just because a dog looks cute, doesn't mean it is!

  • i'm surprised that the thing that they brought back on the helicopter didn't get thier asses while they were flying it back lmao

  • whos hungry? iam

  • Comment removed

  • poor puppies. T_T

  • Wow... these people sure are poorly trained.

Their reaction to a fire alarm is to spill out in the hallway and standing around wondering what's going on.

Come on, people! There's a fire alarm! Enact your evacuation/firefighting plan! What's the point of having a fire alarm if you don't have a plan?

They're lucky that this is an alien invasion and not an actual fire, cause if it were an actual fire and they all just spilled out into the hallway in confusion like that they'd all probably die.

  • I know what this movie is about and gore doesn't phase me, but because it isn't CGI and looks so real I just can't help but be freaked the fuck out!

You know that feel when you just sit there with your eyes wide open and just mouth out "what the fuck...?" O___O

  • 3:31

Probably one of the biggest (not to mention one of the only) laughs in the whole film.

  • soooo....did they make the movies backwards? the recent The Thing movie took place and happend before this one. Makes me wonder if this one really was meant to be first and someone just wanted to produce a movie to tell what happened before for profit or something.

  • @hatobureikazu Yep, the Thing 2011 is the prequel to the Thing 1980s

  • After all these years I still get a chuckle out of the exchange of dialogue after 9:02 MacReady: "Bennings go get Childs."

then at 9:11 Bennings: "Childs! Mac wants the flamethrower!"

    Childs: "Mac wants the what?"

Bennings: "That's what he said. Now move!"

No he didn't, Bennings. Mac clearly says, "Bennings, go get Childs." there is no mention of a flamethrower. And as I said: Unless "Go get Childs" is code for: "Bring the flamethrower", Bennings has a hearing problem. It just cracks me up

  • @CoHScrapper

youre right I never noticed that

  • @CoHScrapper Thats awesome i didnt notice that lol.

  • @CoHScrapper no childs is probably the guy who handles all flame equipment so when mac wants childs e.g also bring a flame-thrower. plus seeing that thing jumping around like that you would burn it wouldn't you? aint exactly gona give it a beer r ya?

  • @jameswanantony *facepalm* you clearly missed the joke because you read too much into what I said, because the, "And as I said: Unless "Go get Childs" is code for: "Bring the flamethrower", " comment pretty much summed up your detailed explanation of Childs. Heeeeere's your sign!

  • @CoHScrapper

True, but maybe the part was shot where Mac really says to Bennings: "and make sure he brings the flamethrower."

but the editor did cut right to the hallway.

  • @CoHScrapper I'd kill the damn thing with fire too if I saw it attacking my dogs! :|

  • @CoHScrapper ;-D so true - what a laugh actually!

I wonder how many stuff they trashed during filming :-D

producer sees list of "accidently" burned stuff and goes: "Again? Maaaan!"

... almost like in the military

  • @CoHScrapper Or, he said that part when they cut away, and Peter Maloney got to say the line for dramatic effect.

  • @Frohike117 I guess that means Peter Maloney is a cool guy!

  • @andsosmileysays I think Peter Maloney is a pretty cool guy, he gets to say dramatic lines and doesnt afraid of anything.
